All this AC hating makes me sad. Loved AA, have been looking forward to AC. :(

Not to discourage you but AC was my first PS3 game. I loved my first playthrough as it was the first console game with 1080i that I played and was off my wii. But as soon as the short campaign and little sidestories are over (the sidemissions are the best part of this game), the game becomes a ghost town filled with doing useless riddler trophies everywhere.

It slowly began to get to me. I started New Game + and even with everything refreshed I couldn't take it anymore. There was so many things wrong with the game, besides offering exclusive dlc at a different retailer (I got screwed with GameSTOP and some joker challenge map and should have gone with Bestbuy who had THE COMPLETE ROBIN DLC PACK, really angered me), along with the catwoman dlc being an online pass (didn't affect me as I bought it on launch) the game just had so many little things wrong with it that stops it from being a game that would even come close to 96/100 and made me think metacritic as a whole is a ridiculous means of assessing a game for consumers.

If I really wanted to give it a score I would have given it a 7.5/10 or 8/10. Its a good game, just not a great game or anywhere near perfect. The frustrating controls, annoying combo system (this honestly did nothing for me), meaningless open world (I think this game could have been better if it didn't try open world because you would have to fly from one of the city to the other and just stop along the way to do meaningless things), and the great atmosphere you feel in the beginning just gets dull by the end.

The moment I traded that game in for Sleeping Dogs was a relief. I can't stand some games in my library and was glad I got rid of it.

I'm watching the stream now.

I accidentally pissed some people off in the TV-spot thread because I was speculating on a quote from the TV spot, so this will be my last post in TLoU threads until the game hits. I don't care about spoilers myself but I don't want to accidentally get banned for something stupid.

See you on the 14th TLoU-GAF.

Eh,The overly high scores are giving me the GTAIV vibe, and I have a deep dark hatred for GTAIV.
Not fair to the game itself, but the feel remains...
But I know someone I know somebody will lend me it down the line and I'll probably give it a try but for now... GTAIV!

Oh my.... I want this game, but I have a 360.

Bugger :-(

Well, you never know they might announce a price drop at E3. Theres more to PS3 than just TLoU, we don't even know how thats going to turn out.

I personally prefer infamous 2 to any of the uncharted games, but hey thats just me. TLoU may even blow me away since its apparently nothing like uncharted.

All this AC hating makes me sad. Loved AA, have been looking forward to AC. :(

Arkham City is awesome. I enjoyed it more than Arkham Asylum, and I thought I felt more like Batman in that one, patrolling the city and kicking ass than in Asylum (and I love Asylum as well). AA and AC are different games. It's kind of funny to hear people complain about how sequels are just rehashes of the first game, and AC does a lot of different things than AA, while still keeping the core of what made AA so enjoyable (the combat and general Batman-ness of it all). Loved it. I thought it was a natural progression/extension of what they created in AA.

Also, yeah, The Last of Us has me excited. I don't give a shit about reviews, but I'm always curious about what people think of them, and how they react to them. Naughty Dog loves making video games. This is evident in pretty much every single game they've released. I didn't expect The Last of Us to be anything less than their best efforts.

And Uncharted 3 was awesome, so I don't understand the constant "Uncharted 3 debacle" talk, as if it was somehow a complete and utter clusterfuck of a game. There was no way it could top UC2 in terms of hype vs expectations vs delivery on said hype/expectations.. Uncharted 2 didn't have nearly the hype UC3 did, because Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, as great as it was, wasn't really on anyone's radar. UC2 came like a punch to the gut in terms of how quality it was. Because of that, expectations for UC3 were unreasonably high for many people. I feel it delivered big time, and built up, and improved upon, the themes and characters of the first two games. The game design had also matured and evolved, and took some creative risks (especially in regard to pacing and what elements they left to gameplay, and cutscenes). Great game.

Really looking forward to The Last of Us.

I'm hoping you don't let me down Naughty Dog. You guys are right up there with Nintendo as the best developer in the world and this game seems to justify my believe. These reviews have sold me on the game so my expectations are astronomical. I haven't had expectations this high since Super Mario Galaxy.

Reading the comment section on the Gamespot and Polygon reviews....ouch. Do they not understand that an 8 and 7.5 mean the game is good? :\

Much as I would like one, I'm holding off until the PS4.

I'm so bored of my Xbox and fancy a change of exclusives like TLoU etc... but it will have to wait till the new platform launches.

I forgot this place has just become a message board for jerking off while subsequently calling for the downfall of Polygon and/or Gies.

Yes it does matter. Its not going to effect my personal enjoyment of the game but it will effect the industry and THAT is why we are on here talking about it and THAT is why you should care as well.

Reviews do effect sales. And sales are pretty much all that effects what kinda or games come out and what kinda of games we have to play as gamers. This is why I care and this is why you should care as well.

I think gamespot increasing has proven its self to subscribe to the method of blinding throwing a dart and at a dart board to get their review scores.

In gamespot context Last of Us is equal to Fable: The journey (also reviewed by Tom Mc Shit)

Hell the game might not be a 10 in my book, but I bet it isn't going to be an 8. And my guess is you don't represent gaming and what gamers are looking for very well if you give an 8 to a game like this.

It's one score in a slew of 10/10's. It's not going to affect anything.

I wouldn't be so confident with Gaikai services right off the bat.

My faith in Sony and remote play has been let down before, and David Perry has let me down before as well (with a crappy grind fest MMO known as 2moons).

I think its wiser to invest in a PS3 but that's just me.

I'll probably lock onto a PS4 when I'm done with my PS3 (picked it up in late 2011, and still have a large backlog) or when it hits $300. Maybe if Infamous:Second Son comes close to TLoU reviews I might pick it up earlier...

I never got what was so phenomenal or ground breaking about those Batman Arkham's to be honest. Were the majority of reviews from Batman fanboys? Ever since the Nolan movies, I feel like 1/3 of comicbook fans are people who claim to be Batman fans.

multiplayer co op confirmed ?

WHERE!!??

There might actually be something to this. Part of the reason why the critic reviews and user reviews on Metacritic seems so distanced and random.

It's very likely that within a week of release there will be a thread or post here that breaks it all down why the game is mediocre from game mechanics to what not. :)

From the reviews I can see that the strong opening might be a key factor why this is scoring so high.

Bioshock also had a strong opening.

*takes notes*

Same could go for Irrational.

94 (Bioshock Infinite)
96 Bioshock 1(has the most reviews on the 360 version)
93 (System Shock 2)

Why have you ignored irrational's other games?

Freeedom Force
Tribes vegeance
Freedom Force vs the Third Reich
SWAt 4

EDIT: This generation I see, System Shock 2 shouldn't be on that list though.

I haven't played it yet so don't take my word for it, but I expect it to be shoehorned in and replicate U3 MP (I though U3 co-op MP was fun though). But hey, they might surprise us with an infected MP co-op mode which what I was really hoping for.

If its anything like RDR zombie co-op MP, I'm out.

Yeah, how dare people question the motives of a site that willingly accepted money from one of the primary organizations they're responsible for reporting on. They opened themselves up to all the criticism they get, and Gies certainly doesn't help matters with his attitude and odd secret sauce references that seem to be pretty much totally untrue.

I get the feeling the new Infamous isnt gonna score mostly 10's across the board. I mean, it's Infamous and its starring the lead singer of Hoobastank.

I could be wrong though.

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.
No way in hell will Infamous: Second Son score as good as TLoU.

I just can't see it.
