Also, Sessler's review was great. Very low spoilers and a good overall context. I should hopefully be reviewing this soon, so we'll see how it compares.

Why are these reviewers like Sessler and others referring to this game as the PS3's swan song when Beyond comes out later?
Yeah people are saying 15-20 hours, which is pretty damn long compared to Uncharted.

I liked Sessler and Destructoid's view a lot as they highlighted issues with the AI that will probably be immersion breaking.

That's a very negative view of life. Sony may be a large corporation but naughty dog is a regular studio. They work hard and are passionate with what they do. You'd be surprised how many of them actually care about their work, what their fans think and how they can improve. Money isn't everything, despite popular belief.
There have been many examples where studios are driven by passion more then money. The people who made journey for example, probably quantum dream, oculus rift for sure, etc.
There are even gaffers that do game development who like to give a complete experience instead of locking content out for money like some publishers do. I am well aware of greedy corporations but not all companies are like that.

Arkham City is not even in my top 25.

Dear Jebus, those scores are ridiculous. The last full-priced game I bought was Diablo III. That may be changing soon.
Wow this game is getting reviews higher than I thought it would get.
Was expecting 87/100ish before I read the playtesters thing, then I thought it was going to get a 92/100 tops.
I know I shouldn't talk about numbers, but it takes no genius to realize it does have an impact on commercial performance, hype etc etc.
Well, time to look at the merits of the game and see WHY it actually scored so high. For the record, I like Naughty Dog's games but I don't think many of them deserve the scores they got. Then again, I don't think any game on metacritic should deserve above a 90/100 average except Super Mario Galaxy 1 and LittleBIGplanet 2, and maybe Rayman Origins and a few more select games but to each his own I guess.
I'm having alot of entertainment reading a lot of people's comments with their confusion over Polygon's numbers, and also people flocking to jump on the people who are frustrated at Polygon. Theres always that same group of people no matter what game it is, defending and arguing over numerical values.
I wish that not just this industry, but others would assess merits based on what skills you have and how skilled it actually was, even a pros or cons list, rather than assessing by numerical values on a basis of 100. I mean I'm looking at movie scores on metacritic and I see a wide spectrum of scores for different movies, yet even when movies have poor critical performance people still go to see them. I think the problem here is, when a game scores less than 70 people immediately assume its shit. If Iron Man 3 was a game, hardly anyone would have bought it. People would have even been iffy on Star Trek: Into the Darkness which I just went to watch yesterday (great movie by the way).
On a more related note to the game, I saw the MP trailer last night. Wasn't exactly happy as I was expecting a mode involving clickers but it seems like Sony is going to take this to the bank all the way with extra dlc modes in the coming months. I don't blame them as its looking like its going to be a commercial and critical success. So looks like that mode with infected will probably launch once the game is done and settled.

Being primarily a pc gamer who is used to getting the latest releases for under £20, I told myself I would never buy a full priced console release at launch and wait till the inevitable price drop two or three months down the line...
I just preordered this and I don't even care, seems as though it's one worth paying full whack for.

Naughty Dog, Bethseda and Ninja Theory. Also make statements about elevating the writing in games or how the industry wanted to x female out of the game/off the cover. Anything to allow the reviewer to think their shilling contributes to a greater good/sense of legitmacy,
