Just keep in mind that they are rumors, nothing more... Just because they get huge threads, and "'trustworthy' GAF Insiders" repeat the information doesn't mean they're true. I tend to just stay out of those threads anyways.

Are you sure? It's heating up. I think we'll get at least four more horror days. Hopefully e3 delivers and the games will warrant a launch purchase...

I feel for ya. All MS needed was to not focus on things other than games and not fist gamers in the ass with bad policies. Its like they read the book on what not to do and then said Ef it well do it all!

It's the same as it was with the original 360. The only move that could permantly damage the XO is if they launch at a ridiculous price with no games for 18 months.
I really need to avoid those threads leading up to Monday. I just don't understand why people want any company to fail really. There are a lot of good people at all these companies and it's not their fault that some execs have to try to make it as profitable upfront rather than building a technically sound and albeit a little more expebsive system.

I wasn't a member back then, knew of this forum but never really bottered to register. I guess in the end it really paid off with the levels of lulz and salt from the console warriors

same. COnsoles are just the medium we have to go through to get what we want, which is the games. I've been a member since 2008 and lurked long before that but you still see a lot of the same old people doing the same thingz FOR YEARS, and i'm just asking myself why are you so heavily invested in it. Thank you to those who still have hope and common sense. It's been hard to be around here lately, kind of sad; I knew there would be negative downers but wow, they've exceeded all expectations. Every other thread is a MS Hate thread... As if Sony can't do wrong.
I wish both consoles the best. I am a gamer before anything; Sony and MS competition is always good for quality and variety.
I hope this E3 truly clears out the waters or at least brings some common sense to our community. Every rumor starts as that and quickly 20 pages later becomes overly real to most people augmenting the negative vibe and detriment...
Yes, this is the internet and some rage is expected but... man... I cannot wait for this to be over.

I'm only really browsing the gaming side occasionally right now for news. All the histrionic and hyperbole has gotten me real bored about the gaming side. I go to Giant Bomb for a more grounded evaluation of all of this news. All this being said, I am anticipating Microsoft blowing the doors off of the world with games at E3. The same trolls that do hit and runs in this thread will then continue to harp on "the specs!" while the Xbox continues its success. I'm not going to bookmark any posts cause that's petty.
I spoke to my cousin a couple days ago and he's pretty casual now (skipped the PS3 and 360 generation) and he's looking forward to the Xbox. Again, gave me some perspective that the vehement hate here is not universal. Get pumped guys, the Xbox gaming scene is going to be looking a lot prettier than the competition's in just 5 days. Games are what move systems- this fantasy that people are creating that there will be a gulf in multiplatform games is entertaining to read.
On a side note, remember all those space-cases who thought Sony's shares rising on the 21st were due to some perceived strength in the (meaningless) console scene? That pretty much encapsulates the majority of the console discussion here right now.

They are 720p but it really means nothing, we have no idea if they were downsized so they could post them on NeoGAF.
Actually I'm going to take the step and say they were in fact downgraded seeing as they are 130~ KB JPEGs.
Even if they were from in-engine I doubt the originals are compressed JPEGs.

You get used to it after a while. What needs to happen as soon as possible, however, is Microsoft finalizing their policies and specs, and starting production. They need to show games running on the final hardware so that people can finally get a good idea of what Xbox One is really like in that regard. Then we can all start concentrating on what really matters - games.

Yup, it means nothing. He never said what the resolution was, we might get that info at E3. People are just extrapolating based on what else he said.
And you know what, I completely agree when he said a game's beauty is not determined by its resolution. Look at all of the great games we had this gen from Halo 4 to Uncharted 3. It won't stop me from saying that they are not great looking games even though they weren't running at 1080p. Hell, The Last of Us is running at 720p, and I would argue that it's a beautiful looking game.
There are so many other factors that determine whether I think a game is beautiful, and resolution isn't the first (yes, it matters, but other things such as texture size, shader effects, model quality, animation quality matters more IMO).

It doesn't matter anyway, 720p is fine....and I've been saying this for months, for both consoles. Image quality is much more important than resolution. No one is complaining that The Last of Us looks like shit because it's 720p. PC gaming is slightly different because you're much more likely to be sitting very close to your monitor. Most people play consoles on their TVs where they're much more likely to be sitting further back.
If you have a 50" TV you'd need to be sitting no more than 6" from it to fully be able to perceive 1080p resolution and only at 10" or closer can you even fully perceive 720p. I had a 720p projector up until recently and at 15" back on a 106" screen 720p was quite definitely HD. Yeah, my new 1080p projector is better but the difference isn't leaps and bounds.
