Sakurai confirms Smash trailer at E3 direct!

Cant wait for the new

This with miiverse is going to be the shit

I don't think the basic mechanics of the Smash Balls should be changed. The whole point of adding them like that is to change the flow of the match if they're on. They can add some super move mechanic with smaller attacks separate from them, but the Smash Balls themselves shouldn't change. However, I really hope they balance the Final Smashes better this time. Anyone could see the heavy lack of balance of Brawl's Final Smashes.

Actually, the Smash Balls need to go, but we still need to have Final Smashes. I just hate how the Smash Ball mechanic rewards randomness, but I love the idea of characters having an ultimate move.

Ideally, this game would have a meter system instead. Or, at least, some other system in place that has no random factor in it that would allow the use of Final Smashes.

Speaking of Ganondorf, can he actually use that sword he shows off in Melee & Brawl? He's cool & all, but maybe try to make him less of a slower, heavier Captain Falcon.

Nope. And anyone claiming he's bad doesn't know how to properly edge guard with his d air and u air. Especially when you know how to use his d air stomp. Shit kills for free on folk. Plus the folks I see that lose with him are always trying to dash with him. Use his d tilt and side b to get in man! Folks gotta come to you since your a heavy dont play him like Fox! Besides he has inescapable side b combos. Figure up your damage based on that.

He rewards patient punish footsie folks and thats what I'm all about.

Why can't you wear normal clothes under an armour suit?

Watch any of the Iron Man/Avengers movies, and take a look at what Tony Stark wears. He's never once shown to be wearing a skintight catsuit under the armour, it's always just regular clothes. Hell, he even has a full tuxedo on under the thing at the start of IM2.
Starks is not a bountry hunter in space. In the previous games (as someone linked), Samus was in her suit in underwear. Zero Mission gave Samus a consistent and athletic-focused attire.

This topic is weird since its canon (reconned starting with Zero mission) in the game series that she wears this suit under her armor. This would make more sense in a samus/metriod thread.

Actually I don't care that much. I just don't want ZSamus to look like such a stereotypical fanservice character.

The ending depictions were alright for what they were. They could use the same opportunities to make her look tougher though.

Uh explain.

You mean fit lady, which sense because her tainng and her having move around in that suit.

and in skin tight clothes, because constrains the suit, and space.

What the hell are you talking about?

I'd be willing to take the chance, personally. Anything that would dispense with the likes of tripping and the general "floatiness" from Brawl would already make me happy.
don't get me wrong, moon physics and tripping are the first things that I'd like to see go. Or at least leave in a switch this time, smash has always been about having tons of options, I still wonder what the heck were they thinking.

So glad I used some PTO at work and used E3 streams and stuff as a good "Learning Experience about Future Products" for work.

But I wont let the hype get me. Last several E3's I've been stone faced all of Nintendo's Conferences. So my body is always ready.

I'm guessing most of you already have Wii U's, but for those who don't, is anyone else here willing to buy one just for a new Smash? I mean I'm excited for a lot of other games on the system, but Smash alone can make me buy a console. The games are that good.

No. I would by a WiiU for a game that actually sells me on the controller and the system though. I strongly doubt Smash will do that, but maybe the next Mario/Zelda/New IP? No idea.

Right now, as a huge Nintendo fanboy, I see no reason whatsoever to buy a WiiU at this point in time :/

That said, bring on the Dojo!

People enjoy using Z samus.

Again, this is still not an argument. People would probably enjoy a great deal of characters who didn't make it in. Particularly, I imagine people would enjoy Ridley rather more given he would likely play very differently to most other characters (heavy but flight-capable with a disjointed hitbox and aerial focus rather than ground).

Also why are arguing this hard, over one of the few female reps in smash. what even...

Because it's not even proper female representation when you're using the same character twice! Does SSB really have a more gender-balanced roster when in order to boost the female count you're having to list the same woman twice? I'd rather sacrifice ZSS to get Palutena or Lyndis or Lucina or whoever in.

EDIT: I'm not sure I'd go as far as Ein Bear, though. For me, the answer would be removing Zero Suit Samus, but having Samus' victory pose be the Power Suit falling off to reveal Zero Suit Samus - which would be a much more faithful tribute to the games. Then make Ridley a character because damnit Sakurai.

Uh yeah Interesting thing.

See, umm in the comics, he does have a suit like zero suit samus under that armor. Because he found it more convient.... also in space, like samus is he wears that kind of hing, because compression. So yeah...Remember he comes comics, comic book characters aren't exactly good references.

Because anyone who read comic books could just say

"well actually"

I really don't understand why you keep replying to my posts if you're not interested in engaging in an actual conversation about the issue at hand. My point that I don't particularly like Zero Suit Samus being placed into a skin tight catsuit, and that there are examples of people wearing regular clothes under armour suits in other pieces of media, isn't somehow undone by the fact that there is an Iron Man comic in which he wears something similar.

I'm not saying the character shouldn't be in the game. I'm saying that I think the character design is needlessly exploitative. It's a videogame where Captain Falcon can run Pikachu over with his F-Zero car, realistic stuff like 'compression' really isn't a factor.

It's fine that you like Zero Suit Samus being hot. My only point in the first place is that it kind of rubs me up the wrong way.

I and

1 showed that tony stark does skin tights suits, because in end the the supreme cannon is the comic books... so yeah.

2 why she wears skin tights suits, because space.

Uh those character different move sets, and you are complaining about the same character twice?

Also ridley is a boss, because he is giant space dragon.

How would people feel about ZSS resembling her Galatic Federation outfit from Other M?

I KNOW, I KNOW, Other M sucked, but I thought that was a pretty cool look with the short hair and fatigues.

Yeah, that's why I'm pretty confident enough that we are going to get trailer in first place before Sakurai tweeted. I'm pretty pumped, but I can't let my hype go out of control until Monday morning or I wouldn't survive. :P

Huh, everywhere else I go when it comes to Smash would always say stuff like "it's too early to get a trailer!" and such. Glad to see that's not the case.

reply to me, since you want an actual conversation about this critical issue.

because she anticipates the possibility of loosing the suit, so if it happens she can retain maximum agility that way.

Uh those character different move sets, and you are complaining about the same character twice?

You... might want to edit that until I understand what you mean. :3

I don't get it. I'm pretty sure you'll find any muscular/sporty anime girl in a bodysuit "hot", regardless of the intention behind it. Samus obviously has to be in good shape. She obviously has to wear a bodysuit for the armor (as almost every anime character, regardless of sex does, including Comic Tony Stark btw). So what on earth should the suit look like to not look "hot" to you?

It doesn't even have cleavage or a skirt or underboobs or whatever every other female character in 90% of other japanese games has.

smash-bros.-dojo.jpg

I'm not even joking, but this was one of the best things about Brawl. Waking up every weekday wondering whether we were getting something lame or a complete megaton.

Really hope Sakurai does another dojo, they were some fun times.

You... might want to edit that until I understand what you mean. :3

You are complaining about the same character twice, but they have different move sets.

Then you complain about a character that shouldn't get in, because you want ridley who often portayed as a giant space dragon.

You offered reasonable reason for Z samus not to be in anything.

You have just been complaining about some good looking girl wanting to play in your sandbox.

Actually, the Smash Balls need to go, but we still need to have Final Smashes. I just hate how the Smash Ball mechanic rewards randomness, but I love the idea of characters having an ultimate move.

They could make a warning before the Smash Ball appears or something, but they shouldn't be removed. It isn't just a static item that can be quickly grabbed in a single hit (well, most of the time). The Smash Ball appearing changes the flow of the match into a chase for it, which can really change the flow of free for all matches. Same goes to the Dragoon. If you don't like them, just turn them off.

They could add a separate bar based or percentage based supermove, with faster and less powerful attacks, but I don't think it should replace the Smash Balls, otherwise you'll just remove an option from the game without adding anything to compensate. Standard super moves would result in something completely different from the Smash Ball.

reply to me, since you want an actual conversation about this critical issue.

I'm sorry, but again you're focusing on a weird concept of 'realism' in a place where it's really uncalled for. Smash Bros is probably the single least realistic game series in existance. Why would Captain Falcon wear his scalf, or Marth have a cape, if they're need to worry about mobility, etc? It's a silly, dumb fighting game, realism is thrown out of the window. Everyone would die in seconds on Lylat Cruise if the game was 'realistic', they're all walking around in space completely unprotected.

Anyway, I'm going to drop it, since I feel like I'm de-railing the thread. I just dislike the character design of Zero Suit Samus is all!

It's not exploitative, it just. makes. sense. It's really that simple. If anything, Metroid deserves praise for getting it right - unlike the Iron Man movies. I'm all for discussing the "sexism in video games" issue and stuff, but this is reaching 19th century puritan levels and not helping at all.

Anyone saying smash balls should go might as well say no items or anything in the game at all.

It's simple enough to turn off items if that's how you play. I like smash balls for when me and my buds aren't trying to take it so seriously.

She shouldn't look "just fit", but outright muscular. Based on her story, she should look like a fighter and less like a model.

Anyways, I really want Fusion Samus as her main build in SSB4. Feel free to go crazy over that too.

Catching up on thread:

- You people who want ZSS dropped are monsters. You people who want Marth changed to "Marth"? The Geneva Convention was created to try you for your sins.

- I'm down for some Dillon.

- Captain Syrup > Ashley > Waluigi. More WarioLand to balance out the WarioWare that was EVERYWHERE in Brawl with no Land whatsoever outside of Wario's bike and shoulder tackle side smash.

- Who wants to help me with a Twitter bomb campaign for Mike Jones for Smash 4? It won't get anywhere but it'd be fun at least. :P

I like the smash balls, I just wish they spawned a little less often. Between those and the Dragoon parts, just generally 'fighting each other' gets interrupted a bit too often, IMO.

Well, Namco-Bandai is a huge team so I think the production of Smash will be faster than Brawl's.

Also First Brawl trailer were shown when they only worked on the game for 7 months. SSB4 had about 12-14 months in production.

That's really reassuring... but then again, you also have to factor in that it's Sakurai's first attempt at HD development :/
... but not Namco-Bandai's! :D

nope, the character of Zero Suit Samus originated in Metroid Zero Mission where her characterization made perfect sense within the context of the plot and the rules of the narrative, since it had a realistic footprint, the inclusion of the character in Smash Bros would of course retain it's original traits (proportions, suit, weapons) for the sole sake of consistency.

Super Mario Retro-Verse U, Smash Bros U, and Wind Waker HD (with some streamlining to the sailing and a new dungeon) would sell me on a Wii U.

Wow. Shits about to get real!

That is reasonable.

Though she could just have a thin frame.

I can't stop thinking about customisable movesets, it works with so many characters. They'll use Pit to demenstrate it.

Skyward Sword stage?

Levias-from-Zelda-Skyward-Sword-by_anokazue.jpg

I'd be okay with that :)

Not gonna lie...that'd be awesome as a stage. Also the time travel nodes from that one area would be awesome for a stage. Hit a timestone, sphere appears on stage changing broken down parts of the stage into functioning hazards or platforms for a short time.

Personally I want the Sky Temple from Metroid Prime. Ziplines on a stage, all that pretty atmosphere, and a Metroid stage that doesn't have to hate you in the face with lava.

Oh also, Palutena is a must. I'm already a little sad that Uprising has made it so everyone forgot Medusa even though she's pretty much the reason for the series in the first place just because Hades (as hilarious as he was) played her for a puppet. I will not relent on Palu though.

@Shaowebb: I still want a Sanctuary Fortress (Metroid Prime 2) stage with random Rezbits floating around that'd cause the screen to look like when you insert a NES cartridge wrong but the game plays anyway.
