Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
There have been enough hints dropped as to where Theon is and who is maybe torturing him.

This is the only thing that I've been spoiled on in this thread by book readers.

Obviously it all makes sense now but anecdotally no one in my group of friends could even speculate on who it was until the last episode when Robb was holding those chess pieces.

It's one of those things that sparks more speculation on repeated viewings, when you have a better grasp of who said what, who is where, and so on. I said it ages ago, but the show is so dense that it's easy to gloss over seemingly trivial politics and war tactics in favour of bigger, important events. But all those little thing are usually there for a reason, and they all add up.

If you draw a timeline of events from Robb leaving Winterfell to start his war, to the Red Wedding, noting mostly what was happening with Theon and everything related to Winterfell, you can paint a pretty solid picture of where Theon is and who is most likely to be torturing him.

This youtube video has all of Bolton's scenes from season 2. As usual, stay away from the comments (though I haven't seen anything spoilery).

Edit: at around the 5:00 mark you can see him literally turn his cloak.
Haha. Yeah, I remember that from S2, and knowing what would happen I could really appreciate these little details. That's also why many non-readers appreciate re-watches so much.

Not read the books, only seen the first half of season one, the second half of season two, all of 3 (blu ray box set coming next week).
What the hell... why would you skip so many episodes? :| The second half of season 1 is kinda primordial, lol.

Up to this point (S309) as Sam potentially met anybody who could train him to be an actual Wizard? Thanks
Nope.

Bolton's been married to a Frey girl for a while though, his bastard was old enough to lead a small contingent of men to re-take Winterfell, can you have a bastard before getting married? lol. Does divoce even exist in Westeros?
Of course you can have a bastard before being married. Though you are correct and Lord Bolton has been married for at least a little while, though it's unclear for how long exactly, but his bastard being a grown man has nothing to do with it.

Where the hell is all this info coming from? Did i miss some episodes or wat?

there is also the excellent collection from season 1 & 2 DVD shorts (which I assume are similar to the Blu-Rays) on youtube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KovO3g62PE0&list=PLFF586E36EFD74763

42 videos (each ~2-4 min. in length) compiled (in order?)...VERY informative, highly recommended...NO spoilers. And as a bonus, narrated by show actors...my favorite ones being Charles Dance (Tywin).

Well judging by Ned and Benjin I find it hard to believe that their sister was beautiful enough to start a war over. Maybe they can cast Maggie Gyllenhall as her in the prequel.

So it's pretty obvious to everyone at least the partial identity of the guy torturing Theon, right?

Not at all. I have no idea who it is.

Seriously I'm usually pretty good at following shows and I have no idea what's going on with Theon which is frustrating because it takes up a large amount of time across multiple episodes and doesn't seem to go anywhere. It's been poorly handled in my opinion.

I still have to catch up with the extras in the S2 set, but S1's were GORGEOUS. Seriously pretty, rich and informative without ever nearing spoiler territory.

Best extras for a TV show ever? Mayhaps.

Dude just don't mention anything book spoiler related in this thread. I don't want to know if any of the speculation is real or not. If I don't know, I don't care.

Yeah. I'm out.

No more of these threads ruining things for me. Wish I could just block them like you can block users.

See you on the other side GoT GAF, in like 4-5 years lol.

Since people "in the know" started hinting. A book reading friend of mine confirmed a spoiler has already been posted as very specific "speculation". I won't say which out of a courtesy to you (and others), though, because that'd be mean.

Honestly, zip it dude. Your comment is infinitely worse than any undercover book readers "speculating" things that have no way of being confirmed by show watchers. I'm not sure if you have the wits to recognize that or not.

A moderator needs to get in here and delete all the posts between this one and jaxword's.

In the last episode, look at Rob's little battle/chess board and then take a look at what Theon is hanging on. It's obvious whoever that is, he's with the Bolton's.

ALso, this Theon torture is fucking AWFUL. I hope they end it in this next episode. I don't even like the guy, but GAWD.

Just wante d to be sure. Can't tell what counts as spoilers anymore. ON the show, the flayed man is depicted on a prominent character's banner... thought most people made the connection by now...

I actually completely forgot about Bolton's penchant for torture and the flayed man banner... and basically everything about Bolton prior to this season. :lol

But that plus Bolton lying to Robb about Theon's whereabouts in (I think) the first episode of this season makes it pretty clear that his bastard is the one torturing Theon. And if that's true, the red wedding would explain why they've been keeping the identity of Theon's torturer a mystery all season.

.

I was was busy at the time but it's rather ironic that I can't quite remember what I was doing
now that Game of Thrones is occupying so much of my mind. Really looking forward to catching up on Blu Ray, but watching season 3 and filling in the gaps is problematic as i'm sure you'll appreciate.

Love the underdog, so go team Sam.
Thanks again

Have they confirmed they're going to do this?

I think that if we do see Theon again he's going to be in a lot worse state than when we last saw him. I'm sure Captain Winkie was just a precursor to him losing legs/arms/large portions of skin etc.

I'm sure with everything that has gone down, he'll be put out his misery soon.

Can't believe its going to be a year wait after Monday....lame.

I actually think Theon is going to stick around for quite a while for precisely this reason. Why show us all this Theon torture just to get rid of him?

In this story a character experiencing loss is often the best indication of big things to come. GRRM doesn't like his heroes to have free rides.

Can someone PM me Who is doing this to him
Why?
Who ordered it?

I do not understand. I thought it was because he was thought to have murdered the Stark children, and attacked Winterfell.

Rewatching season two and three earlier confirmed for me who Theon's captor is.

Roose Bolton said his bastard was near Winterfell.

Trumpet blower outside Winterfell keeps annoying Theon:

So from your analysis who would you say as had the worst ride so far, Arya?

Take your pick.

Arya - at the scene of the murder of both her parents and her brother, has been essentially a homeless child for 2+ years.

Bran - got pushed out of a window, will be crippled for life.

Sansa - has been a prisoner and mentally tormented for 2+ years.

Jon - took the black for life, helpless to leave as horrible things happened to his family.

Rickon - let's face it, pretty much all the Stark children have had to deal with something terrible.

Theon - ever since he was taken as Eddard's ward, he never felt he truly had a home. He's been more than punished for his sins - enduring at least several months of brutal torture, including castration.

The Hound - had half his face burned off by his brother as a boy, and hasn't yet had his redemption.

Tyrion - has been an outcast his whole life due to his dwarfism, his mother died in childbirth, and his father and sister have always rejected him. Tywin had dozens of guards rape his wife before their marriage was over.

Jaime - believes he had been misunderstood ever since he slew Aerys. He believes the name Kingslayer is a huge injustice. Joined the King's Guard at the age of 15 so that he wouldn't have to part with Cersei, only to be torn apart from her anyway (until some many years later). This left him stuck for life in his duty as a member of the King's Guard, being forced to protect the Mad King and witness all his atrocities - including that which was done to Rickard and Brandon Stark. His pride was greatly wounded after having been a prisoner in Riverrun for over a year and having his hand sliced off, which has shattered his sense of self-worth and identity.

Daenerys - Was on the run for her entire childhood, always staying a step ahead of Robert's assassins. Had a crazy brother who lusted after her and emotionally abused her for much of her life. Was sold to Drogo as a slave. When she comes to love him, he dies and and so does her unborn child due to a betrayal.

Jorah - Gave up everything to appease his young wife, only to find he couldn't make her happy on Bear Island. Sold a few people to slavers to help with the money in order to make his wife happier, and he gets caught and is forced to migrate across the Narrow Sea. There, his young, beautiful wife leaves him for another, wealthier man. Eventually falls in love with another beautiful young girl, only to once again have his love unreturned.

Samwell - Spurned by his father due to being a fat, clumsy bookworm, and forced to either join the Night's Watch or be killed.

Varys - essentially sold as a slave and had his manhood cut off as a boy.

Littlefinger - nothing particularly bad compared to some other characters, but he was spurned by Catelyn as a boy, he fought for her love only to suffer the humiliation of losing and having to have Catelyn beg Brandon Stark to spare his life.

Like I said, GRRM's heroes don't get a free ride.

Yes. He's also resting his arm on the table, very close to her side all of a sudden. He's like 'look what I got ere for ya'. Its a brilliant scene.

I'm now Team Roose. Perhaps I should quit alcohol too, as it dulls the senses!

Brilliant?

Everyone being "friendly" with house Bolton is retarded beyond belief. How can you trust a family that uses a flayed man as a sigil. Even by their course standards this should ring several alarms.

The North is in a perpetual state of seeking revenge and remembering.

They are the lovable perennial losers.

While you do have a point, you also have to remember that the Boltons are one of the families with a history thousands of years long, and while they do in fact have a checkered history with many instances of evils and antagonism towards the Starks, there have been many more generations of Boltons which have been perfectly cooperative with the Starks.

I expect the reveal will happen in the next episode, if we're right.

A one-two punch.

Grrr, that Roose Bolton killed Robb.

HOLY SHIT his son has Theon.

I think it's about time HBO invests in some crazy anti-aging serum, because those hormones are getting out of control.

Dat hoverhand.

It's gonna be interesting to see how HBO pulls this off realistically since this show is going to be on for another 3+ years. These kids are growing up FAST.

She was sent to Dorne to marry someone, right? Doesn't her appearance actually work in their favor? Besides, I don't know i they ever said how old she is so it might not matter. They can just make up something as long as its not older than Joffrey.
