Just tell us the gist of the story inside a spoiler tag.
The world has been reset following Third Impact. The Angels, Eva, NERV, and Seele never existed.
That picture suggests it ends up somewhere else together, and that it's happy. I can't have that...
Sounds a bit like RahXephon. The world has been reset following Third Impact. The Angels, Eva, NERV, and Seele never existed.
Yeah, sounds like a safe and borderline pandering ending.Yeah the manga ending isn't anything mind blowing. It's been done before in other anime/manga. Here's hoping Eva 4.0 does something more than that.
Well that was an ending not worth the time then. The world has been reset following Third Impact. The Angels, Eva, NERV, and Seele never existed.

I'm actually thinking about watching the whole series and End of Evangelion again, I have the whole DVD collection. That's how much I was into the series a while back.
It's been a while since I saw 1.0 and 2.0, which I enjoyed, but should I just go ahead and watch 3.0 or should I wait for 4.0 to release? That might be awhile but I might actually decide to go through the whole thing in one sitting.

It basically makes no difference, becauseI liked the manga ending, I think it's good.
Also liked the manga because it hadEVA 1 joining the EVA 2's fight against the MP Evas, always hated that Shinji didn't do shit against them in the movie
I need to watch the series again. I don't think I've watched it since I rewatched it right before the English release of End of Evangelion.
Might as watch it and get disappointed by 3.0 out of way.
That's much longer than it's been for me. I think the last time I rewatched it was when I was in high school and now I'm almost done with college.
From reading some previous comments in the thread 3.0 does seem disappointing. Might as well watch it soon.
yeah I first watched 1.11 in my freshmen year, recently watched 3.33 and...wait for 4.44 maybe watching both in a row will be alot better.
It basically makes no difference, becauseShinji for some reason still decides that the world should end, Asuka gets tanged, and then they all die, get reincarnated and forget about it anyway. Whether Shinji does the right thing by her or not matters not one bit.
Not exactly that:
The corpses of the mass production Evas are still there and are considered "ancient, mysterious ruins" that puzzle scientists. In other words, it all takes place looooong after the events of the series, and those characters would actually be another Shinji, another Asuka, etc.
It really is rather cliché (Gall Force, Wolf's Rain, etc) and sugary. Not exactly surprising considering Sadamoto's choices up to that point.
Here is the end.
Chapter ends with Shinji walking into the snow, he forgot everything. Asuka doesn't remember anything either.
Also Misato's cross is on his bag.
Whole world has been reset; their memories erased.
Yeah, sorry.Excuse me, but are you suggesting that Wolf's Rain's ending was cliche?

Tbh, I dig this
It's different from the anime sure, but that's what we signed up for. It's a different take on the series and a happier ending for a bunch of flawed characters that deserve it. (At least in ONE continuity)

I don't mind, but there's no reason it should have taken 20 years to come up with an ending we've seen a hundred times before.
Aren't there like 2 mangas where the characters just hang out and go to school? Pretty sure they're perfectly happy in a bunch of continuities... but I haven't actually read them![]()
Huh? We watched the same movie, right? The one where Shinji and Kaworu's relationship is reduced to a hollow uguu-fest and Mari's tits bounce around at every oppurtunity?!I was trying to say that Eva 3.33 uses the source material in a way that isn't sycophantic and pandery.
In every other respect though, this is pretty much true.
You know that it isn't coming up with that ending that took the guy 20 years...I don't mind, but there's no reason it should have taken 20 years to come up with an ending we've seen a hundred times before.
Considering how "in the moment" the making of Eva was, its not surprising.Edit: As regards the manga, the ending is absolute garbage. It's bizarre, since the guy who made the manga was right there with Anno when the series was created. Between that and 3.0, I'm now convinced that neither of the two dudes who made the original series understood what the buggering hell it was about!Shinji has undergone a total change in attitude despite having no idea what led him to adopt said attitude. It's beyond stupid. Having all the characters forget what happened to them all pretty much renders everything that happened meaningless.
Anno hates you, seriously.Huh? We watched the same movie, right? The one where Shinji and Kaworu's relationship is reduced to a hollow uguu-fest and Mari's tits bounce around at every oppurtunity?!
Into Darkness may have been a run-of-the-mill action film, but at least it got the basics of how to do character development and plot right.

Just watched 3.33, and am pretty confused with the choices they made. The original series was also confusing, but in a way that made me interested in watching and figuring out what was going on. In this I barely have an idea of what has happened between 2.0 and 3.0, and don't understand the choices they took with the plot and the characters. So just disappointing right now.
Biggest question right now would be:
If it's been 14 years since Near Third Impact, why does it seem like no one has aged, especially the pilots?
The pilots are the only ones who didn't aged. It just doesn't really show for the others, but they did age.
Yeah, that's what I figured. The movie just never goes into explaining or even hinting why that's the case.
