It's a stark jarring change thats for sure but it's kind of difficult to see a future without these changes occurring somewhere down the line and in some way, shape or form. Maybe not exactly as MS has laid out, but definitely in the same vein. What Sony chooses to do in the DRM space will be eye opening.

Sony so far has sided with the gamer so it will be interesting where they stand. In the end I think they will just do the same as Microsoft and let the publishers decide.

My main problem with Xbox One is the 24hr check in.

I don't know if I should hope MS has a good show today or worry if MS has a good show today. :/

Sounds like they will have good games to show but it's the exclusives that matter and we only know a couple of them so far (TitanFall, Dead Rising 3, Forza 5 and Quantum Break).

I don't believe this sort of thing is "inevitable." That's complete foolishness. Consumers have rights and they should not be trampled with.

There's been much talk of console gaming dying and if it is to die, it'll be because of DRM and the policies that Microsoft institutes.

I won't go as far as to say that MS is the cancer of gaming, but they might as well turn out to be one if they keep on going along this path.

Pretty much what I think as well. I think Sony will stick with disc based drm as well. Having to have the disc in the system in order for the game to go and then will just play from the hard drive.

I guess it's acceptable now.

The mods just popped in and said it was OK to do that because it creates a balanced environment.

No bubbles or shells for anyone.
It's not acceptable, which is why that poster is no longer with us, and that really wasn't exactly what you were supposed to take away from my post.

If you've been around here for the past month, you know it's been pretty rough for the Xbox crowd.

When Microsoft is choking me to death with DRM, am I not suppose to fight back?

Rough for the Xbox crowd... Don't you mean rough for the gaming crowd and hell, the consumer crowd who has to deal with this foolishness that Microsoft has instituted because of pure greed.

E3 should be about the games, yet DRM is instead the biggest topic that will be hovering over E3 because of Microsoft's greed.

I'm kind of excited to see how many game promoters respond to the name Xbone during video interviews tomorrow.

And this is coming early 2014' to the PC, PS4 and Xbone?

Yes, we're on all three platforms.

You know it's going to happen.

Why can't the developers just say no and not develop for the system then?

Maybe it's because I got a new 360 (old one broke down nearly a year ago) and a Windows Phone 8 device (Ativ S), but I'm actually kind of excited for tomorrow. I was super pissed about MS's hilariously bad DRM but if they show some good games I might get one a few years in.

this argument goes both ways.

The whole thing is really confusing, not just this guy's typing but why people are reacting in such a way to something that strikes me as being non-committal and dubious. For a start, a lot of the stuff he said seems to be well known by people, like DR3 and ME2.

Anyway, if he is legit, I wish he'd have said what Rare game is coming. That's what interests me the most.

I like how you accuse Microsoft of being greedy, yet fail to explain how Microsoft are being greedy.

Was there not a thread that said publishers were the ones forcing DRM, not Microsoft? Why have Sony not been cashing in on this by denying outright any DRM for their console?

To be fair though, I don't own any current gen systems and am mostly just a PC gamer. I use Steam and Origin, so I'm used to having to have an internet connection to download my games and not being able to trade them in etc. I doubt I'll get PS4 and Xbox One, but their DRM policies wouldn't be a deciding factor, only what games they have.

At this point in time, it's took risky to boycott either of the HD twins.

The generation hasn't even started, it's not risky at all. If EA or Activision gave full support to Xbox then PS4 would be DOA in many regions.

I don't think that'll happen obviously, but it seems to me that some Sony fans are looking for reasons to bury their heads in the sand.

nobody has to deal with this. No one is forcing you to buy it. Some people these things are none issues. I'm sure this has been said a million times a million different ways this past month.

Wont happen.

And lose at least 50% of their sales?

Why would they lose 50% sales if PS4 would be DOA?

I'm not saying it's going to happen, I doubt it, but if EA and Activision withdrew support for PS4 the system would crash and burn.
Or Sony could stay afloat based on their strong first party, other 3rd party, indie devs etc. It's not like EA and Activision are doing so great to take such colossal risks. The idea that of if Xbone has DRM, Sony MUST have it too is really getting tiring.
