There is no way that Eurogamer for example will let that shit slide when they have their interview with Yoshida. They have to make a statement.

If they don't comment on it YET AGAIN that will in itself be news, just like the Phil H. interview fuck-up with Eurogamer/Kotaku was news itself.

Haha, the Microsoft folk are stretching the "Sony mosquito virgin tight = not going to talk at E3" out of this.

In fact, CBoat hasnt dropped a single info on what Sony is going to do at the conference.
 
I'm sure Sony had it's plans in place but decided to change them when they saw the huge backlash when Microsoft released their info.
 
Without poring over the entire thread, is there any consensus on whether Dead Rising 3 is Xbox exclusive or it's just confirmed to be at MS's conference?
 
Reading that as ME2 and PoP will be shown at MS. MS will act like they are exclusive without actually saying so. They are in fact multiplatform.

Great news.

I would also be very surprised at this point if Sony went ahead with it's original DRM plans.

I think that most people believe that DR3 is gonna be multiplatform, but with little to no mention of a Playstation version due to MS not wanting them to mention it. It's up in the air, really.

What exactly is the point of keeping publishers from showing their games on the PS4 though? The enthusiast gamer that follows E3 already knows these games are coming, they aren't easily fooled.

The mass market consumer out there does not even follow E3 and does not give a shit, so what is the point? Come November when these games are out, they will go to the store and see FIFA 14 on PS4, PS3, 360, Xbone etc anyway.

We used to have exclusive third party games, as in they appeared on just 1 system

Then we had exclusive "console" games, as in they appeared on 1 console and the PC

Then we had exclusive DLC

Now we have exclusive "showing", what is next? Exclusive bumper sticker on a multiplatform game?
 
The very idea of there being no such thing as F2P due to Xbox Live paywall is hilarious to me. Like, if MS ever dared advertised F2P games, could Trading Standards chase after them?

Intriguing on what aspect of DRM is "worse than we know". Like... how does THAT get worse.

CBOAT apparently previously commented that Dead Rising 3 was snatched up by a company. This thread shows that it will be at the Microsoft Conference.

Bet on Dead Rising 3 being XBoxOne exclusive.

I could very well be wrong, but I don't think the "exclusive" mentions are limited to just E3.

I expect it to be an exclusive. CBoaT said it was snatched by a first party publisher and that's why it wasn't shown last year.
 
Not like this. It wasn't supposed to end like this. At this point the people who proclaimedvthat MS would destroy gaming are sounding less and less crazy and more prophetic.

But

MS got their teeth knocked out when they tried Live on pc, maybe this time console gamers take a real stand.

Yea people got blinded by stuff like fixed survivor AI (even thought they just made them invincible) or fixed aiming and didn't notice that everything else got shittier. Especially the animation system.. and the terrible psychopaths. Man DR2 was a disappointment after the first game.

Well if MS thought of the DRM and then approached publishers, that puts paid to the notion that Sony will be pressured to do the same thing.

Anyway, I can't wait to put my feet up after work and soak up the hype! After I've filtered out the corporate BS of course. I'm curious what Ubisoft are showing with it being a three hour slot. Sleepy dawgs, Blacklist, AC4, I'm struggling to think of what else. Some dance games maybe?

Hopefully it's just a timed exclusive. Otherwise... well, I'd say I'd be understanding the guys who freaked over Bayonetta 2, but not only was I not as attached to Dead Rising but there's the more serious issue of absurd DRM. At worst on Wii U you just had to hope it wasn't DD exclusive.

Hmm I guess just having that third party game show up in Xbone's news blurb, with pics and all, vs PS4 only having a mention in a line or sentence (or none at all), is enough to give the public the perception that only Xbone will have that game? (because people don't read)

Pure bullshit in this post. There is absolutely nothing "perfectly...tuned" about the completely broken survivor AI in Dead Rising. I love Dead Rising 1 as much as anyone, but the game had some pretty crippling issues that DR2 did a good job alleviating in some aspects, despite it falling short in others.
 
i think the biggest tragedy is that Dead Rising 1 was never ported to PC. It was easily the peak of the series, although OTR was pretty decent.

Just as an aside, I think recently, over the past couple of years, Yoshida has made a podcast appearance after E3 with IGN's playstation team. I'm pretty sure he'll be doing it again this year, so definitely expect the questions to be asked.
 
I hope the people watching (and the gaming press) don't let Microsoft "sweep it under the rug" in regards to DRM, just because of some nice games.

I'm trying to imagine how their DRM could be worse than it is. More frequent online checks? Back to charging the consumer full price for used games?

As far as Activision is concerned, I'm not at all surprised they didn't go for Microsofts DRM plan. They make their money selling to the widest group possible and monetizing multiplayer with map packs. They're evil, not (overly) stupid.

And man, the XBONE has managed to do the exact opposite that the OG Wii did going into its first E3. I've never seen this level of anti-hype for a system, even the N64 and later Sega systems didn't have this much bad vibes, even the TG-16 and Jaguar had more love. Hell, even PS3 had something going for it, second jobs and giant enemy crabs and all. This is practically an example of how NOT to launch your system.

Oh yeah. Baring the AI, weird ability mapping, not starting you with dodge, and (ofc...) Otis, DR1 is still very good, and it's one of the few reasons I still keep my 360 out of the closet. A PC version would be godlike, and very confusing it never happened considering the game runs on MT Framework. Oh and speaking of OTR I consider it to have the best survivor AI in the series, and overall it gives DR1 a very serious run for its money as to which one is the better game.
