Final Fantasy XV Announced for PS4

Man, they really changed Promto up. His face looks more angsty, his hair looks like a more unnatural blonde, and his clothing has totally changed. It's better design, I'd say. I wish I could say the same about new Stella though. Her old face was way better...

I think Miyano's been in there since the last trailer. I recognized Fujiwara and a few others, though not as confident about those.

Yeah I remember thinking he sounded familiar in the 2011 trailer and looked him up since I heard him as Setsuna (Gundam 00), he's apparently voicing Ignis, the guy with the glasses.

Seems more a fan fiction. SE is waiting for them to decide? :P What's to decide exactly? Are we talking about new unknown IPs so they're waiting for a new build to better evaluate the potential? :D With Microsoft so eager to get contents on their console and spending millions for stupid maps and DLCs?
Sony is not going to pay in the sense of handing them a money hat, the only reason why it was speculated that FFXV would be exclusive in first place is because Versus was in development hell and people thought that Sony jumped in, saved the project and asked them to make it for PS4.
If that's not true, the reasons behind the supposed exclusivity are no more.
If Sony hasn't a contract with them based on co-developing, these titles are totally going to be PS4/X1.

Btw exclusivity or not the most important thing is that they're real and they're coming, resonably they'll lead development on PS4 anyway because of the heritage, at least for FFXV.

Yeah, red haired guy is probably my favourite design. Seems to have a cool personality too.
As for Mr. Hood, we can see he has blondish hair from the scene where he's talking to the knight. Might not mean much, but we can at least confirm he's definitely not Lightning :P
 
Gotta say, I've noticed a LOT of people saying they don't like FF generally but that the gameplay here looks really awesome.

I think bringing some more action elements if a great idea by SE. Especially considering we know there's the more traditional elements still involved (world map, airships, summons etc)
 
Oh so they ARE exclusive at the moment but they are exploring other possibilities with the contracts instead, interesting.

I wasn't sure ... it looks to action based but still day one.

For now, just assume what was said during the conference, they're NOT exclusive.
If there are further details (deals in place), we might know as soon as tonight.
 
Yeah Fujiwara is doing the redhead guy with the umbrella.

And for all those of you unimpressed with the trailer, look at the bright side. At least there is a trailer for Versus, grr I mean FFXV, at E3, first time since 06 I believe. And we are actually able to see the trailers online for Square's games now as soon as they are available, instead of that stupid Closed Mega Theater bull from before, which is hopefully a thing of the past.

Yeah FFXII skimped on the romance department. Which didn't bother me too much, but they kept hinting at Vaan/Penelo and Fran/Balthier but never really officialized it. In Revenant Wings, though, Penelo gets more love. Don't know if you played that game. As for Fran and Balthier, you can just tell that they're doing each other off screen, but it remains forever a mystery.

I never got around to it, tough I should. I don't know why I was so pressed at Penelo's treatment, she wasn't super amazing or anything. I think it was just because Ashe was kind of annoying, so she defaulted to my second favorite girl in the game after Fran.
 
The gameplay is so removed from the traditional FF but I don't care. This game looks amazing and I'm looking forward to it. also, KH3 was a nice suprise and the announcement of FF14 on PS4 was good.

Square did themselves a few favours I think.
 
Looked like a bunch of corridors and hyper-scripted events. Hopefully the jump to next-gen didn't result in them throwing out everything that originally made this so compelling (openness, more traditional exploration, etc.).
 
Dumb question, been out of the loop but the footage shown is actual combat gameplay?

Have they parted with the traditional combat style for this Final Fantasy?
 
What I understand from this is that Square Enix and Sony are still in talks about exclusivity. That has to be the reason that both parties are being so vague about the platform(s)
There is zero official video material on both games online because that would "probably" need a mention of platform at the end of the trailers (like the Square Enix trailers always have) for now they are just mentioning the "PS4" platform on Twitter or like yesterday at the conference (by both parties)
Look at Sony's YouTube channel for example, all their E3 trailers from yesterday are uploaded except the Square Enix ones.
I guess that Sony was waiting on how the public would react before they sealed the contract/proceeded with the conversations with Square Enix. I guess the "Future of Final fantasy" press event later today will shed light on the cause. Maybe they will have the definitive answer because of Sony's/Square Enix's decision.
If those people at Sony are smart they better moneyhat those games like they did with MGS4, those are games that would sell the PS4 on a lot of people, business wise it's a smart investment that will pay itself off.

I don't really care about exclusivity except only for the use of the hardware without compromises. A PC port would be welcome though haha.

Yes, but I'm confident about this.

Even Uncharted 2 can't do a game 100% of scripted events and XV is an RPG.
 
Did anyone get a Monster Hunter vibe from seeing Noctis fight those big monsters? I feel like this game is like Square's response to Dragon's Dogma or something when seeing the open world with the big ass monster fights.

And that's not a bad thing. At least for me. :P
 
One thing I noticed from the trailer was the voice of Miyano Mamoru. I'm a big fan of his, as his roles in anime are some of my favorite (Kira from Death Note, Okarin from Steins;Gate, Kuroro Lucifer from Hunter X Hunter). Just something that makes me even more excited for this.

TBH Sony has not been vague. They said FFXIV exclusive on PS3 and PS4. FFXV and KH3 coming on PS4 (but not exclusively).
It's the same thing Kojima did with MGS5, plain and simple. It's not really fair to consider the PS4 version of that game as a given in that case while officially it's still not announced, while dreaming of contracts that Sony might do with SE if they wish to, whenever they want to. Things do not work like that for such big titles.
If there are further details, deals, timed exclusives, we'll probably get to know them at the ''Future of FF'' event today.
But so far both games are multiplatform.

My most anticipated game ever since June 2006.... just become even MORE anticipated, how that even possible!?

This could be the game that take over FFVII spot in my list <3

I missed you so badly in the last decade.
 
The OPEN WORLD thing scares me a bit, is Square Enix even able to produce a game of this scale in an open world?

Semi real time system ATB based. Hack n' slash meets turn based. You can dodge attacks too. It's actually quite fun and fluid. I'd prefer not to be standing in a circle politely waiting to be poisoned because those are the rules in all of my JRPGs
