Do you like what you've seen so far from Wii U's visuals?

I've always been annoyed that the Wii was behind other system in power, and knowing they were gonna do it again this gen scared me. But after seeing the results of the PS4/XBox One, the diminishing returns are really starting to show. Sure, I'd like a more powerful WiiU, but I am definitely happy with what I've seen.

Lol jokes on you. I only play Nintendo games? I am 100% percent buying a PS4 on launch day just to play madden 25 like I did with 360 is that duderbros enough for you???

Also did you know watch_dogs is on Wii U? Watch the trailer.

What are you even talking about anymore? What does watch dogs on wii u have to do with your claim that Mk8 is the best looking game at E3 and nothing comes close? Unless you were trolling everyone...

I just love Nintendo's art through these games. The visuals look great. Obviously not on the level of the other two consoles, but for what it is, its finally Nintendo on HD.

Nintendo Land was so fun for me for instance. And sometimes when I was playing Zelda on single player in NL I would marvel at how beautiful the environments were. What I'm seeing with these titles is a continuation of that. Yeah, Nintendo is struggling a bit with HD development. I wished Iwata would hire more teams to dish out more games and help get out games in timely matters, but for what it is, they look great so far. And I hope they play great too.

If the console survives years from now then hopefully Nintendo's teams are more acquainted with the hardware and can really make this little console shine. I just love what I see so far.

To me, the only titles that look "next gen" (whatever that is) are X and Mario Kart 8. All the titles on the supposedly "real next-gen" consoles look "current" (again, whatever that is) or just plain. I can't give an opinion on SSB until I have the chance to do a hands-on. Bayonetta looks fine, not that "next-gen" much.

I know its not CG I actually thought this as best looking game yesterday:

Just because Mario Kart is not realistic does not mean it doesnt match up with them. Compare it to something like knack, and things seem a little different no? If someone said knack was best looking everyone would just think they have a opinion and not that they're wrong.

You didn't just say MK8 was thebest looking. You said it was the best looking, nothing came close, and everything looked more current gen than Mario Kart

At its best it pretty much looks like PS3 games without many of the hitches like 30fps, not actually at least 720p, etc. And the shaders really give it a nice polish that makes things look not bad.

I think it looks decent. Their cartoony style helps them out since realism can show too many flaws. Looks decent tho. Loving the mk8 gfx. 3d world looks meh though.

They all look like current gen games except for Mario Kart 8 which look a little "next gen-ish" with the shaders and some good lighting. Looks good.

You tell me to go watch MGSV which is open world. I said go watch_dogs. Watch_dogs is open world and on Wii U, yet I still think MK8 looks better.

It's really growing on me to be honest. I think my disappointment stemmed mainly from the lack of any real surprises along with inflated expectations compounded by a HIGHLY shitty stream. Now that I've cooled off a bit and have access to HD streams I'm liking what I'm seeing. I think Bayo 2, X, and Mario Kart 8 look great. Mario, W101, DKC and Rayman are also very colorful and pleasing to the eye. Visuals aren't a problem for Nintendo, far from it.

Do you think Watch_Dogs looks better than MGSV?

(..and what does being on Wii U have to do with anything?)

I havent seen a game thats on MK8 level so I cant compare it. Thats my opinion. Alot of other game seems really comparable in graphics. I believe the division looks better than watch dogs but they are easily comprable.

They are 'good enough' by far. My issue is that I thought the whole point of Nintendo aiming at 'good enough' level graphics was for the games to actually come out in a reasonable span of time. We are still looking at 2014 before the true Wii U titles start coming out, not just titles that were in development for Wii and moved up or rehashes of Wii titles.

2014 might be too late for the console to find any kind of success, no matter how good X and MK8 look. I'll still buy one because there will be games on it I need to play, but it is worrying that Nintendo can't seem to get the content ball rolling.

I'm fine with it, cause it looks alright (WW:HD AMAZING) also think Nintendo still isn't used to HD yet. When they are, my god. End of the Wii U life will be amazing.

Mario Kart looks pure next gen to me. I think it looks much better than sonic All star racing transformed on pc, and a million times better than mod nation racers.

After watching the direct on the eShop it seems like Wii U is capable of top PS360 games with better IQ, better framerate (as long as details are accurate), and some advanced effects. For early games on the system they look good to me, though clearly a step below PS4/Xbox1. Guess that leaves them where most expected....somewhere in between.

Shoot as long the lighting and shaders do enough to give a game enough visual flare then it's all good. If games look like this then I'm down.

It's ok, and any weakness was covered by the game's art direction. Pretty sure it will take a hit for games aiming a more photorealistic direction.

As I posted on the last page... are we sure that's Wii U footage? Could be PC.
They showed it in the direct so I assumed it was Wii U. I heard it had Wii U buttons or whatever but I cant remember for myself. Has a direct showed PC footage of a multiplatform game before? If so I could be wrong I didnt think about it that way though to be honest.

Mario Kart pleasantly surprised me. It's actually what I was hoping the 3D Mario game would look like, but... yeah....

Smash was Smash. X also looked great, but hopefully they fix the pop-in.

Overall I'm happy.

When it comes to graphics it felt like smaller studios if given a shot could outdo Nintendo. You look at games like the Witcher and then some of the bigger studios out there and finally Nintendo who has been known in it's time to put out some amazing games that use to be stunning for tor their era and it's like "What the hell happened".

Nintendo does not seem to be trying a lot much of the time now. That's depressing. Nintendo is capable of so much more but they're not showing it.

They're definitely coming along. I'm with the consensus about MK8 and X being the best two from Nintendo visually. SSB still seems early in development, or that could also be due to the 1080p/60 target. But it would be third for me.

I also want to see more of Watch Dogs. The Wii U version seems to be holding up pretty good.

2:09 for those who haven't seen it. It's kinda fast unfortunately.
Me too i really curious how that's coming along. Also wii-u owners should check the e-shop if you haven't already,Nintendo has some very high quality trailers up.

Yeah you know it really isn't bothering me as much as the difference between the Wii and 360/PS3. I don't think the graphical leap from this gen to next gen is that substantial so a lot of the best looking Wii U games look similar in appearance to the worst that the others have to offer. That's not really GOOD but I don't really think graphics are that much of an issue anymore. The biggest shame is that a lot of Nintendo fans won't get some good third party content but that has been the case for quite some time now so... meh.

Ubi demoed the game at the end of their conf, full 100% gameplay. It pretty much looked like that.

Yeah I know how those "100% real, totally not scripted demos" work. Was any footage shown on the floor with random people playing? I bet you think that the chatter and the banter between the players was natural too.

I'm surprised more aren't mentioning Bayonetta. IMO it looked better than the original, though I guess I should expext it to progress somewhat...

No, I don't. They've had more than 7 years to see what developers are doing, and they're still behind the curve of current gen.

Nintendo showed off Xbox360 and PS3 footage of some games when the Wii Uwas unveiled. Ironically, some games journalists claimed that they looked worse.
