Dark Souls 2 E3 Gameplay Demo Footage

What do you mean by this? Your stamina drained when you blocked with a shield in Dark Souls as well. I must be misunderstanding you.

Rarely anything in Dark Souls can break your stamina when it's in the 70 stability range. In Demon's Souls it was easier to get someone to stagger. You'll have a hell of a hard time getting someone to stagger w/o a kick in Dark Souls.

Not nearly to the same degree though. I think if your stability is over 70 there are very few things in the game that can break you. And then there are shields with over 80 which only Gwyn can break through.

Oh, so you meant a complete guard break not just stamina drain on blocks.

Also staggering people is quite easy now after the DWGR nerf.

Looks way faster. That was a good thing when the character on screen was a lightly armored nimble one, but the heavier dude shouldn't move as quick as he did.

the gameplay and info given was basically nothing....it's making the long wait until March way worse for me. most likely it'll be the last ps3 game I buy and play, since I'm getting the ps4 at launch, fitting I suppose.

Looks good, but at the same time really worried.

They kept repeating the same line, 'We have some new stuff to make the game more accessible, but we aren't showing that just yet.'

Don't do it From.

I wonder what they're going to do about poise. It is kind of broken in Dark Souls. But on the other hand they need to have something like it in place because it was absolutely stupid in Demon's Souls how a dinky dredgling attack will stun a player in full knight gear.
Another problem about Demon's Souls was how heavy armor was practically useless because fat rolling sucked so badly.

Dark Souls kinda fixed heavy armor, but at the same time could only keep poise in balance by implementing a broken backstab radius.

Hopefully Dark Souls 2 can find some sort of happy medium where heavy armor isn't horrible but also doesn't require backstabs to control it.

Game looks great.

I'm wondering about dual wielding too. It looks like the penalty was moved to stamina drain from mobility which is pretty cool. I could be wrong though

At first I thought the animations looked really odd (they still look a little unfinished) but then I realized how glorious and quick they were. The framerate of this is looking great.
Also the cloth physics are amazing.

Not completely unhappy if they make the game faster; after all, I always wear armor that allows me to do a quick roll anyway, unless I am battling a boss that needs the poise (four kings namely).

I can't believe they are releasing this on current gen 4 months after next-gen is out... At the very least do a lazy port with better anti-aliasing and textures and call it a day...

Watching Sessler's interview, and it shows that Estus flasks are back.

Did we know this or did I miss something? I thought the jury was still out on this with the initial reveal and gameplay videos a while back.

That was already confirmed in the first reveal in April.

Oh, shit, I clearly missed that then. Thanks. I think this was just the first time I saw the actual icon in the gameplay videos or something.

Yeah, on the previous video they had a different healing item in that slot, but they confirmed in an interview estus will be back.

Not seeing the issue with the animation at all. The general movement and attacks look very fluid and well done. The sense of momentum and weight was still quite evident when the heavier and larger weapons were used, too. Graphics in general look great, and a step above the first game. The dynamic lighting is particularly impressive.

Don't see anything to be worried about so far. The mirror knight sounds brilliant (I missed having an
Old Monk
style boss in DkS), but some more info on the game system and different areas would be nice.
