I still can't believe they're bringing it back, so freakin crazy. Glacius everyday of the week.
It sounds like you're really, really against the idea of people liking KI. Especially with that clown line about it being impossible to tell if a fighting game is good or not without playing it for at least a few years.
It's a game and people are clearly having fun with it. Let it go.
Nice to see some 60fps footage.
Yeah, for real!Nice to see some 60fps footage.
Damn. Why does Microsoft have to own this property? WHY?!

The only gripe I have with the game engine is that jabs look way to fast & safe. Last thing I want to see is people mashing on jab in this game like they are all playing Mags in UMVC3.
I will reiterate that this has happened with every single fighting game pre-release, except it's normally Seth Killians job.

Hmm...you would think that they would also list it on Amazon and the MS store if so. They could have done the "Day One" edition of it and everything.Did anyone discover if there's a disc version for sure? I've heard of full digital versions but haven't seen anyone confirm if there's a disc version coming out. Anyway, I noticed this listing on Newegg:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16874103341
Safe to say there'll be a disc version?

Everything I have heard is it is digital only.
Same. Maybe it won't be released on disc day one. I noticed the release date on Newegg is 12/31/2013 (placeholder). Of course Newegg could just be completely mistaken.
Bonus Tidbit of Info: On the Gamespot stream, the guys mention that they're looking towards givingeach characterabout 40 relevant, useful training missions, to help one learn the in's and outs of the game system.
(Since it could be an overall mode, I think it best to assume that's the meaning, for the moment.)
(Start Listening around 8:45 HERE if you wanna hear them mention it)
because Nintendo is retarded
I hope they have Master Chief or another Halo Spartan as a character.
That intro track sounded pretty bad to me. Like a minimalist alternative rock version of the track that just doesn't hit the spot left by the original electronic one.
Cortana or bust (no pun intended) MC already got his spot in DoA
So help me get this clarified:
1.- KI3 will be free to pay?
2.- Only countries in which the Xbone will be released can access Free to Play games?
3.- If you ping the MS servers from lets say japan. Even if you have an American Xbone and gold account, you can NOT play this game?
4.- This games uses 6 punch and kick buttons?
5.- Can you CB Ultras? As in KI2
6.- Can you slow down Ultras? As in KI2
The game to me personally looks amazing.
But a lot of people in the FGC don't trust impressions from the hollywood players (Let me just put 'em on blast. JWong, Max, Gootechs, Alex V, Mike Ross, mostly other well known socal players) because they hyped the living shit out of SFxT and the game is and was a complete fucking turd.
The devs are doing the right thing by getting this game out into the FGC so more than just the hollywood illuminati can play it and make up their own minds.

The whole video is quite interesting. Lobb talks about the original games and why they failed, mechanically, to becomce high level games.
Yeah, from all the streams and videos I have watched, it really seems that way. Very exciting!I think that Killer Instinct hit that sweet spot between accessibility and depth, especially for its time. Remember, it was competing against SS2: Turbo, MK2/3, and the early KOF's at the time. Sure, it was much more forgiving thanks to its combo system, but the characters, vibe, fatalities, humiliations, and expansive combos were awesome.
The music, of course, was in a league of its own too.
KLOBB droppin dat fighting game knowledge. Good shit.

It seems like nobody will ever top the dark, foreboding feeling of the orignal's character select music:

It seems to be DD only. I would love to have a physical copy from a collectors view though. Going to be epic!So this is confirmed to be a launch title right? but no "day one" edition of Killer Instinct at retail? I really hope its not DD only, it takes me like 3 hours to DL games now off XBL can only imagine how long it will take to DL games with more data : (
Nice! Just got done watching this. Great video! Did you get some more time to try and break them with more ease?Got some details on Manuals in KI.

So far there's 3 different ways to do combos.
normal auto double combos
manual combos
combo trait combos

So, to break down the KI Jargon to regular Fighter speak:
- Auto-Doubles: Chain Combos.
- Manuals: Links.
- Combo Trait: Combos Via buffing-super cancels.
Hey Max as a not-really-good-at-fighting-games guy, would I be able to get some good combos out at this? As a point of reference, I am not able to go past the first few stages at the SF IV trainings(with a stick).
Also good coverage, I really like your videos!
Yea DerFeef. Literally to do combos, this is what I told new guys. Do a special moves, press buttons, then do another special move, press more buttons, then to a heavy shoryuken when that's done.
The input buffer window in the game is HUGE! If you don't understand that jargon, it just means the game is very responsive to your button presses and makes it easier to execute attacks and moves.
Hmm, ok. Thanks Max!
There must have been a time when KI-speak made sense to me (I remember a summer when I wanted to do nothing else but go to Putt Putt Golf and play KI2), but so much of it sounds so foreign now. I guess it really has been a long while...

KI talk at 2:26:40
Basically says it's broken and has a ton of bad mechanics, which leads to stuff like 50% unbreakable combos and block string infinites, plus it plays nothing like old KI and none of the development team (except FilthyRich now I guess) has experience working on fighting games. Also it's on the xbone.
