I said i wouldn't discuss this further but i'll bite.
I said that it would make things be too opened on top of if the PS4 had a family share plan as (seemingly) opened as what MS will give users for the Xbox One..
1. There is no such thing as too open if it protects consumer rights and also benefit consumers in a positive way. It is too open if you look at it from the multibillion dollar corporation who wants to nickle and dime you till you die, do you work for them?
2. It is not seemingly opened, their policy
has been outlined
a. cannot play from disc
b. 24hr drm checks
c. no trading game unless publisher allows it
d. no gifting at launch and when it is implemented it is just once and permanent
c. only 1 or 2(they need to pick one) people from your 10 family plan can play at concurrently so they might as well just say it is just 2 person family plan. etc etc
Compare the number of people who have solid internet connections to benefit from the family plan vs. people who couldn't since their internet connection isn't sufficient.
This is nonsense so not even going to address it, your logic is pretty much deniable. People who have bad internet connection will not be able to take advantage of 10(2) family shared plan and thats a good thing because "pretzel logic" Piracy.
The Xbox One will have demos, F2P games, Day 1 digital on all retail games, and a family share plan with more users. How isn't that more opened in terms of digital?
Yes XLive will have all that, didnt say it wouldnt but I said PSN currently has those now on PS3 and PS Vita and will carry over to PS4. I hope they also improve it more than it is now. The 10 people family plan is limited to 2 people so more? NO
Xbox One will enable new forms of access for families. Up to ten members of your family can log in and play from your shared games library on any Xbox One. Just like today, a family member can play your copy of Forza Motorsport at a friend’s house. Only now, they will see not just Forza, but all of your shared games. You can always play your games, and any one (not 2 or 3 or 10 but just one) of your family members can be playing from your shared library at a given time.
It depends on whether or not the DRM system has other things that will be beneficial to a certain person.
There is nothing beneficial about DRM to a consumer, they can add value to their service to make you care less about the DRM but those value can still exist outside of the DRM as it does on PSN and Steam.
I already stated that the PS4 is obviously a better choice for someone who wants to stay with physical media.
PS4 is better for anyone who wants to go Physical and Digital, you are given the option to choose if you want Physical or Digital with less restriction. In fact you can just buy a PS4 and PS+ and have access to free games every month by just spending a little less than you pay for XLive
And no, I didn't "make up my mind" until I heard about the family plan. There are people who feel the same as I do and stated (in threads here on GAF) that the family share feature would be a system seller for them.
Please you aren't fooling anyone, anyone who goes out of their way to use some pretzel logic to justify their purchase or start making up nonsense about PSN to justify their purchase has already made up their mind, and guess what? I DONT CARE.
Like I said previously, I was set on getting a PS4 first until I read more details about the family plan. It would be a huge benefit to me personally. So stop assuming that you know that I "already made up my mind" before getting info about it. You aren't me.
Doubt it for reasons above and "I said that it would make things be
too opened on top of if the PS4 had a family share plan as
(seemingly) opened as what MS will give users for the Xbox One" you are not even seemingly sure.
Here is the family plan again;
(Again), compare the number of people who have solid internet connections to benefit from the family plan vs. people who can't since their internet connection isn't sufficient.
Thats better for consumers because 'pretzel logic' piracy and too opened.
1. I can't do this with digital games now on my Xbox 360.
2. I can do this with ALL games -- no matter if they're retail or digital.
3. I can share all games with people I know that live an hour+ away from me instantly.
Good luck with all 10 of you playing at the same time.
So how isn't that more options in comparison to what I have now?
It is by comparison to current XLive open for you but if you've never used PSN, for people who have it is not impressive just like nothing will be more impressive than PS+ in terms of value.
Correction:
2 home consoles sharing digitally -vs.- 10(
only 2 concurrent so just 2) home consoles sharing digitally.
So
NO, in terms of what I care about
it is NOT more restrictive in terms of digital.
I never said "restrictive" period. I simply just said more restrictive in comparison.
and you would be WRONG. Buy your console of choice and again i urge you to refrain from trying to spin PSN into something it is not. It is not more restrictive to current XLive and neither will it be more restrictive to seemingly future XLive.
Peace, try harder.
