A flawless victory in the deciding due or die match of the grand finals at dreamhack, damn that was a beat down.

1.09's Exodia gif is amazing.

Yeah, prize is pretty small at $20k.

Oh god, Alliances has to hold cans of Monster Energy Drank. Though to be fair, they are likely getting paid more for holding the cans then the prize money.

How can we hold our prize check when we're already holding this delicious MONSTER ENERGY DRINK?

Can't believe how many times AC said monster, well at least there isn't a champagne bottle

Man they don't look happy. Hard to look happy about a second place after a stomp

I would like everyone to remember this series when they complain about game balance in IH, IHL, etc. Sometimes shit just goes south.

game was stacked against quantic; we need to reform dreamhack and the entire competitive scene, cancel all tournaments, let's just have small scrim leagues until we can eliminate the stacks. CM is also too tryhard and makes people sad, let's see some reverse captain's mode TI3

Where are my buddies ikuu, guesong, and bluemax? They will find more flaws than I can and expose this fraudulent tournament.

Just had a miserable game. In the first minute our Sniper dies top to their trilane, specifically Shadow Demon. He then teleports down and says, I kid you not:

"can't farm up there"

"sven go top"

When we go "uh...you want to replace Sniper in a rough lane with Sven?"

"fuck u"

"muted"

"fuck u"

They're looking so good right now... g'damn.

Makes TI3 that much more worth looking forward to in my mind.

I'll be sad if Quantic doesn't qualify for TI3. Goblak is the most interesting drafter in the entire scene.

They won every game except for the Fnatic game at Dreamhack with either Tree or OD.

All 2 games OD and tree were first phase bans they lost

Just reading this makes me want to hit things. I've stopped playing Dota since I have no one to play it with here in Australia, and solo queuing has lost 100% of its appeal to me. Can't wait to hit up those NA servers again.

Nice to see the Daily "I'm playing with competition that's way over my head" Dota is back. I really just feel bad for Brad at this point.

How is one supposed to play Warlock?
I play it quite often when playing with my friend, but not sure about what is a good build actually. Usually i pick Shadow Word and Fatal Bonds first.
But just a moment ago it occurred to me that wouldn't it be better to take Fatal Bonds and Upheaval, start a battle with Fatal Bonds and then cast Upheaval to prevent the enemies from running?
I'm not good at gauging when to use Shadow Word for healing and when for damage.

Upheavel...eh, its nice, but its really situational. Skill it if you have a hero who can take advantage of it, but if you don't expect significant early kills in your lane then stick to the Bonds-Word build. If you're laning with a carry I'd definitly max word first to give them more lane presence.

The way I usually build Warlock is to start going for Refresher as soon as I get a Ring, buying wards along the way. Double Warlock ult is ri-goddamn-diculous.

I see. Requires a bit of teamwork, a teambattle perhaps?
I'll try to remember to build for Refresher, not that i ever get past core items in matches. Die a bit too much.

The thing is...Upheaval just isn't that good :/ I mean, I guess you can use it to gank if they don't see you coming, but in teamfights its really not that good. I keep trying to think of when it would be useful but all I'm coming back to is early-game kills. I might skill it early if I was laning with a Juggurnaut for example.

Usually in teamfights I throw it out as an afterthought because after Bond, Golem, and a Word on somebody I have nothing else to do

Reminds me of my matches. That is, if i ain't dead by that point.
EDIT i swear Bounty Hunters, Riki and others are fixated on me.

EDIT If DOTA 2 has one big flaw (aside from good tutorials), it is that the matches are too long. I'd prefer something that is about 30min at most.

The thing about Upheaval is it's a channel, not a targeted AoE like Midnight Pulse or the like. So you just sit there motionless, as a sitting duck, so long as the spell goes on. Your movement (even if just to distract) and right clicks are going to be more useful in the vast majority of cases, unless you have someone who can really take advantage of slowed targets like a Lycanthrope.

Upheaval is really good, its just really awkward to use, mostly due to Warlock's cast animations and his ranges. Most people end up casting his Golem at max range, which then requires warlock to then walk for 1.5 seconds to get close enough to start using Upheaval. Ideally, you want to Golem/Bond/Upheaval, getting both spells off during the stun time, but they are in decreasing cast range, going 1200/800/700, so what happens most of the time is you are lucky if you get bonds off before they scatter.

I noted above that this games matches are a bit long (along with bad tutorials), but one additional big negative occurred to me: This game is hard to play casually, just a game every now and then. Especially if you don't read about strategies and other stuff... but i guess that is a problem for all games with heavy eSports focus.

Just won a game 4v5, and our fifth guy wasn't there from the very start of the game. He came back about 5 minutes in, but then he left again and never came back. We still won it, it was insane.

You do have something to do, micro the golem!
