Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- being considered for next-gen

So Guilty Gear Xrd probably won't be launching before E3 2014. Next gen title status pretty much confirmed.

Siliconera said:
Kidooka replied that we’ll find out more about Guilty Gear at E3… in 2014. “Most likely, [creator] Daisuke Ishiwatari will come to E3 next year and you can ask him then,” Kidooka shared with us.

Arc System Works is preparing to move on to the next generation and it might be with Guilty Gear. “Currently, we are brainstorming,” Kidooka said to Siliconera. “Guilty Gear Xrd is a title we’re considering to bring to the next generation.”

Kidooka added that Arc System Works are confirmed to be a PlayStation 4 developer.

I could see it being an August or September 2014 game or something.

Better be next gen though. I'll need a glorious looking fighter for my PS4.

I'll be surprised if isn't at least a cross-gen release. If ASW really thinks that their fanbase will be flocking in droves to buy a new $400 console (add on $50 for online play!), plus will hang on to the PS3 for the sake of keeping up with BlazBlue, as well? That'd be...overly presumptuous, at best.

They gotta move on sometime. By the time the game comes out we'll be a year or more into next-gen.

I think the type of people who'd buy Guilty Gear and the type of people who's buy a PS4 within the first year of release probably overlap to a decent degree.

True. But on the other hand...BlazBlue: CT didn't debut on the PS3/360 until a good 3-4 years into their respective lifetimes. And just because the Bone and Four will be out, doesn't mean that that every dev will immediately drop everything and move everything to next gen, when there's still profit to be had on current.

If anything, the safer bet is that ASW will likely try to put this game on as many compatible platforms, as possible. They were able to get BB running on the PSP, after all. I wouldn't put it past them.

They had Battle Fantasia up and running way before Blazblue, though. I wouldn't rule them out for an early next gen release.

True, but they did put out Battle Fantasia pretty early into the 360 lifecycle if I remember correctly. Was it 2007? Not to mention at that time weren't they being troubled with legal issues with Guilty Gear that led to them to making Blazblue in the first place? That would have slowed them down.

Honestly, despite the vastly larger userbase on PS3/360, I think being one of the first fighting games of the generation could REALLY help them. It's not like blazblue does huge numbers on current gen as it is, and as of now it's the only announced fighting game that could potentially be a PS4 game, and the 2nd on Xbox One. Fighting games sell pretty well in the first year or two of a generation.

Plus this:

Unreal Engine-powered, 1080p 60fps arcade game. Yeah, pretty much next-gen confirmed from the start.

I certainly hope so, since the earliest this thing looks to be out is late 2014/early 2015. Might as well move it to next gen consoles (or port it to next gen systems). Still, that's a long ways off. Yeesh.

of course... i saw it as a future PS4 / Xbone title from watching the video. Here's hoping it plays as good as it looks
