Well this is definitely still Valvrave. I can understand where duckroll is coming from when he said that the major beats were wholly predictable but I still found the execution of said beats to be as entertaining as always. They're still managing to throw some material into the story which really does come out of left field so even when I am expecting a twist of some sort the nature of the twist is usually in the form of something I hadn't predicted.
It is becoming increasingly clear that this whole thing is going to end on a cliffhanger, meaning that the wait for the next season is going to be quite arduous. I wonder how much story progression they've planned out for this show because even this far into the season we've barely touched on any of the wider plot elements.

I think I finally realized what exactly is so bad about the new Akito mech: centaurs are typically depicted with the human portion's ratio to the horse portion remaining relatively equal to that between the size of an actual human and horse. However, the mech's "human" half is disproportionately large relative to the "horse" half. It just looks incorrect, and potentially top-heavy. Imagine what a horse's gait would look like if its head was as large and heavy as the rest of its body. That's the only way that I can realistically imagine this mech in motion.

Agreed. The ending to Hanasaku Iroha is a much more emotionally fulfilling experience. It's legitimately sadder, but it also runs the spectrum of drama. You can feel some happiness, some melancholy, a feeling of how much everything has changed, and have both hope and regret.

Blathers is back with personality, which he was robbed of in New Leaf (for the sake of faster donations), and looking at this just makes me want everything to be boss in my village.

And if you're so intent on keeping her there, why not also make it so she wasn't allowed to move beyond a certain distance? Seems to me this guy isn't making full use of his power.

This is gonna be one of those Anime that I am only watching just to see the end of it and I suppose it is not that bad at being bearable to the point me wanting reach the end of the episode. However, I think there are things that hinders any enjoyment above decent; I do think that the writing is really bad, me thinks. The whole show is trying to have this emotional resonance where its trying to showcase what is fear and despair, but its doing a poor job at that. The only emotional thing about it seeing how people die and who is gonna be next in line. The whole widening the eye is quite irritating, the monologues they say is slowing the series die. ''Why can't I move?'' ''Why am I scared?'' ''Why am I useless?'' and then you get ''why am I refusing to die'' ''Why am I not scared?''.
Those inner thoughts is not helping anyone and its coming off as quite Emo where the whole ordeal is quite obvious and I can see people dying. ''Why am I scared?'' No shit Sherlock, because you are about to die...
The art is terrible as well. The whole grain filter just adds a nonsensical illusion to an already confusing artists style. Black thick lining on a such monotone artstyle is not suitable. and the proportions and the way the body is jerked is badly conveyed.
Sorry if I am sounding confusing or just downright harsh on the series, bu there are elements that annoys me which affects my feeling about the show. I do like the fact that everyone can die and how the world is explored.

I was about episode 12 when I was advised to stop watching it. It may have been my best decision this year so far.
Nudity might be going a bit far, but you do have an audience that love OreImo, so the level of abhorrence isn't as bad comparably.

And the ripping off of Digimon to include the hero's kid sister isn't helped by the fact that said kid sister is become the provider of fanservice to the show. Maybe if I was a kid I wouldn't care as much, but as a grown up, it's just. plain. awful.

At the very least, this is what Haganai wishes what it could be. And probably what Kawahara thought he was doing when he had that first arc of SAO. But the thing is, this stuff really only works if there is no self-satisfaction for the audience or the character. When connected to a direct power fantasy, being an anti-hero is just a way of being too lazy to come up with an interesting way to be a hero.

At the time, I despised the Tokyo Arc. I just remember it being manipulative melodramatic schlock, the equivalent of the second act of a romcom where the heroine needs to get shat on in order to pay off the third arc, but much more heightened and artificial.
I hope you watch the sequel. So few seem to have!

Iroha had some questionable content, all other flaws aside. Being better than AnoHana isn't much of a triumph.
You can probably reduce the series down to five or so episodes and be better off for it.
