G.rev's Kokuga (3DS) official for NA/EU, eShop-bound June/July

Looks like a slower-paced Bangai-O. Is that how it plays? How is it?

It's not really anything like Bangai-O. It is a very simple shooting game. You control the tank with the circle pad, aim it's turret left and right with the L and R buttons, and shoot your cannon with the B button. The basic gameplay is to make your way through the stages by simply shooting and dodging. In addition to this, at the beginning of each stage you got an allotment of 20 random cards. 4 of these cards are displayed at once on the bottom screen. The cards come in multiple variations, each offering different power-ups. Touching a card will activate that card's power-up temporarily and draw a new card on the bottom screen, until you run out. Some of the powers include a rapid fire cannon, 3-way cannon, stealth and repairing some of your shield. There are some other dynamics, but that's the game in a nutshell. It's basic, but I like it a lot. And the music is fantastic.

There is more info here: http://kokuga.net/gamecontents_e.html

I am mostly excited about finally being able to try the game's 4-player cooperative mode. The game has download-play, but I don't know anyone else with a Japanese 3DS so I haven't been able to try it.

Sounds fun. Thanks for the impressions.

Day one.

Alright, more portable shmups. Can't wait to get this.

Though I wonder how much it'll cost, considering it was a retail game in Japan for about 5,000 yen. Hoping for something around $10.

I could've sworn this was a downloadable title. Still, I'm very interested.

The Japanese version is on the eshop for 5040 yen. This doesn't sound like an indication that it will be $10 or less in the US.

Different market. They might release it as a full retail release at $30 but that would be suicide. If they are releasing it as a bonafide eShop title then it should be $10 or less. Speculation, of course.

Really not much more to the title beyond budget pricing.

I'll buy it either way, though.

Meh, I'd rather have it as a $30 retail release than a $15 digital release. What I'd REALLY like is a demo, but since the Japanese eShop doesn't have one, I doubt we'll be getting one either.

What.... Seriously? Gave up hope on this one a long time ago. Great if true, and I'll definitely buy. This might get me to play online finally, as well. Thanks for the great news?

Wow, this week & for $15? Awesome. I'll have to see if I can get some cash to get it or wait for a sale. G.Rev is doing great with this & Mamorukun Curse coming to PSN on July 16th.

Is this the only shmup on 3DS in the states?

I'm thinking I'm gonna jump on this, it sounds interesting

There is Twinbee 3D Classics and Xevious 3D Classics. And Gradius on NES VC. Can't think of any others. Though there is the Mii Quest Shooter released in EU and JP. And another one called Chain Blaster that is just on JP eShop, for now.

was looking at the trailer, the first half I was like, hmm ok looks ok, music is meh,

second half and I had chills up my back, old school synth music :) ohh I want this in the UK nowwwwwwwwwwwwww
