The 3DS is doing pretty well now, but the launch was poorly handled, big price cut under a year after launch, etc. If he can turn the Wii U round in a similar fashion people will be less antsy I guess. I don't think him personally is the problem with Nintendo to be honest.
Why are people so keen for him to resign? Didn't me make the Wii, DS and 3DS massively successful? The WiiU is his only major flop so far, no?
3ds was a flop too and look what happened a while after
Isn't the 3DS only "massively" successful in Japan, and not performing up to Nintendo's expectations overseas?
I don't recall seeing killer hardware unit sales in either NPD or the European tracker.
The 3DS is doing pretty well now
So did Kaz HiraiHe lost them billions of dollars in market share, both with 3DS and Wii U.
Its still selling very well in the west, not sure why you'd need to downplay that. It was leading in last months NPD sales alsoIsn't the 3DS only "massively" successful in Japan, and not performing up to Nintendo's expectations overseas?

AC is doing well... not sure about HW I havent been keeping track
So did Kaz Hirai
"Oh, you seem to misunderstand me. You see... I have no intention of resigning."
*claps twice*

The 3DS however, it will SERIOUSLY help this target due to one thing alone. Pokémon. Pokémon will spur sales of the 3DS like crazy. Nintendo will receive a good portion of the profits from it also.
It's a 100 billion Yen in operating profit. That's not exactly hard for Nintendo. Wii U console sales itself is a different story.

(Just get rid of the Direct bit)

...and the 3D Mario bit while you're at it. This jif is awesome. It's referential subject matter reveal was not.

If you could elaborate more that would be great- I'm not a business guy at all. Is it realistic to meet the 100b yen goal with good 3DS sales and decent Wii U sales?
DS had pretty horrific launch period too, which people tend to forget. The early 2005 NPDs were brutal.3DS launch was a disaster in the beginning. Everyone seems to forget

I really doubt the people who want him to resign really care about Nintendo's future. They want Iwata and Reggie fired just because. I even read someone from Europe say Reggie needs to be fired ASAP when he has absolutely nothing to do with NOE.
Just because it was unexpected doesn't mean it wasn't awesome.
Kaz replaced Ken Kutaragi right after the ps3's launch. The ps3 moneysink and the PS vita failure all happened under himUm no. That was Ken Kutaragi, who was "promoted" to "honorary chairman" and has since left the company.
It's only "massively" successful in Japan, yes. However, that in no way means it's doing badly in America or Europe. It's doing well, not amazing, but well

I'd like to see another CEO because the WiiU just had it's third E3 and it's outlook is still shitty. And clearly, problems are rooted deeply within a mishandling of their teams and apparently a complete lack of future proof by Iwata last gen. WiiU is a lost case anyway, but I'd like another good console by Nintendo next gen again. And with him calling the shots, that's not gonna happen anymore. The sole knowledge of handling a handheld in Japan isn't enough.

5 fucking months of great game releases back to back on the system this year is considered a shitty outlook.
Wow, you're a fucking trip

5 months of games that look like they could have easily been on their last gen hardware.
Unless you're including the sinking ship he inherited from Kutaragi (PS3), and then later Stringer (Sony), as he had no part in the larger policies or design of the PS3, that is a blatant lie.So did Kaz Hirai
Nintendo posted an operating profit of around 170B yen in FY10/11.
In that year they sold 17.5M NDS and 121M in corresponding software. They also sold 15M Wiis and 171M in Wii software. At that stage in the systems' lives I would assume the hardware was highly profitable.
Even if they were to meet their forecasts for this fiscal year for the 3DS and Wii U, and they won't, I really don't see how they'd reach that operating profit forecast.
I can read better jokes at Gamefaqs.
The poster I replied to initially said that Iwata should be fired because he lost Nintendo some market share. Kaz Hirai did the same exact thing and has since gotten promoted to CEO of the entire company. I just wanted to point out how unrealistic getting fired from such a high position because of losing market share this early in the generation wasagain what does any of this has to do with Sony?
