Wii U Games 2013

Im still amazed by Mario Kart 8.

"New mario kart" was the last thing i expected to be great. For me every mario kart game is the same and i already played this.

But this time it seems they really got it.

It's pretty easy to find new Wii U games at pretty low prices over here in the UK (helped by Flubit obv). I've got Pikmin 3 on pre-order for about £25 (have been offered £24, but would like more than £1 difference if I'm going to cancel my previous order), Wonderful 101 for £27, New Super Luigi retail for £20, Assassin's Creed 4 for £26 (price has since gone back up). I don't know if it's a consequence of the UK's ongoing disdain for all things Nintendo, but it's pretty great, especially when it's pretty likely I'll later be able to trade those games in for only a few pounds' difference. Older games are even better, many good games can be found for £15 or less. What's the situation like in the US?

wait what where? I import from the UK so I need sources that ship to the mainland.

My thehut preorder for Wonderful 101 sits at 35 pounds :/

The UK market is crazy.
You can also find very good deals for 3DS, PS3 and XBOX 360 games.
I bought Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed (Wii U) for £15, inclusive shipping to Germany.

The game covers and quick manuals are different around the European countries (UKV, GER, FRA, FAH, ITA, EAP, EUA, EUB). But the Wii U game disc is always the European version (EUR), including five languages.

Put the best offers into Flubit and they'll generally improve them by roughly 10-15%. I used Wow HD for Luigi U and Pikmin, ShopTo for Wonderful 101* and Assassin's Creed 4 was from Zavvi but they've put the price back up to £45 now. No idea if any of those sites (or Flubit) ship outside the UK I'm afraid.

*Tried to link to this site but didn't seem to work. No idea why.

Flubit will not ship to Germany. If I visit their webpage, they give me this nice message:

"You're from our favourite country of them all, Germany!

We love where you're from, the people, the ground, the sky, the buidings. The weather where you're from is just how we like it too! We love the fact that you're currently here. Where you're from is amazing!

However we are traditionalists, which means we want to leave the best until last. Therefore we are not going to be creating better offers on the products you want until we have gone to a few more not so great places.

If however you are just visiting where you're from or on holiday (you have great taste by the way) you can still enter the website and use us. Just remember, we can't deliver any products to where you are!"

ShopTo and Zavvi are shipping outside the UK.

This game lineup is too good. Definitely getting a Wii U this year. BUT going to wait until Wonderful 101 comes out in the states to see if a price drop happens.

Seeing the gamepad in action still gives me the most next gen vibes from all the platforms.

Ok, so I'm seriously considering taking the plunge for a Wii U. My wife and I's best friends from out of town are coming to stay the weekend, and we all love playing platformers together. First off, should I even consider getting a Wii U basic? I've located one for $229, but I'd like Nintendoland and I don't have a good external drive.

Anyway, so I've got a $130 BB gift card, and $80 worth of Visa giftcards. Plus I've got a mint copy of Xenoblade that I'll most likely never get around to playing, so I'll sell that on eBay. So I'll most likely end up buying the deluxe for $350, and order NSMBU. I've seen conflicting answers so I want to make sure: Do regular (non-motion plus) wiimotes work w/ NSMBU? And games in Wii mode?

What should be my next game? I've heard great things a/b ZombieU & MH3U.

You can get nintendoland for $20 now so unless you're planning on going primarily digital, I'd say the basic is what you want. The other extras just aint worth it. If you do go all digital though (like I have), you should make up the $50 difference in points. I've already gotten about $100 worth of free points from the digital promotion.

I don't know about the whole motion+ thing. I'll test it out later tonight and get back to you (unless someone else beats me to it).

As for your next game, ZombiU is fantastic (and cheap now), MH3U is great but if you really get into it, you'll get sucked in for 100-200hrs so keep in mind its a time sink. Lego City is great as well.

Also note that we're on the verge of the fall push from nintendo so we're going to be getting Pikmin3 and W101 really soon and then SM3DW, Sonic, Rayman, Zelda, and Donkey Kong right after that. There's also Splinter Cell this summer and Watch Dogs during the holiday. There's gonna be quite a lot to choose from by the end of the year.

Deluxe is good idea as the cradles are really convenient and the deluxe promotion is pretty nice too since you can use the credit for wii u stuff or 3DS stuff. regular wiimotes are fine for nsmbu but some nintendoland games require them. They work for wii mode but again it comes down to a game by game basis.

as far as games go my personal highlights are:

NSMBU
Nintendoland
Lego City Undercover
Zombi U
Game & Wario
MH3U

If you're looking for good showpiece for the gamepad go with Zombi U. It's a great game and the muliplayer is really good as well. If you're looking for bang for your buck MH would be the way to go.

I agree with guek's opinion about ZombiU, it is a fantastic survival horror game.
I think it utilizes the features of the Wii U GamePad in an imaginative way.
Check out the ZombiU OT for more information.

Games in Wii mode play like they would on Wii, there is no difference.
Maybe the games look a little sharper, cause of the HDMI output.

That fall lineup reminds me that I have to finish up my backlog soon. Can't wait for these games to drop.

Still trying to find a good deal on Need for Speed Most Wanted U. Any suggestions? Did it sell enough for there to at least some online activity?

Also thinking I might tracked down a cheap used copy of AC3. Sold my copy after I did everything but sort of just want to roam the world. Maybe I should just wait for AC4.
I'm selling my copy of Most Wanted U.

Hey guys, I noticed my Wiimote pointers are starting to get "skippy" (Not the frog!). Like they will disappear and reappear as a flash.I've removed all the IR interference I can, but it still happens. All started tonight! Multiple Wiimotes, too.

Could it be the sensor bar?

Any lights shining on the sensor bar?

I haven't been able to play Wii U in a long time. Haven't been able to play anything actually.
However I got a Buy 2 get 1 Gamestop Coupon, and was thinking on using it on Wii U games so I can get something to play for the console once I get some time to play.

Currently have:

Warriors Orochi Hyper (Digital)
Tekken Tag 2
NintendoLand.

I think I might get Monster Hunter, but still trying to decide which games would be good.

I play mostly anything except sport titles.

Also does anyone know how long do these coupons last, kind of want to see if I should wait for some games to come out.

My favorite game on the Wii U is LEGO City Undercover. Definitely worth looking into if you want something to play. I also enjoyed Arkham City, too.

Not exactly a fan of the Lego games, although I have heard very good things of LCU. How is the gameplay-combat? Same as other lego games?

Substitute the sensor bar for 2 candles (place each one roughly where the ends of the bar would be) and see if it still happens.
Hey, just an update. Moved shit around and everything is fine. I think the standing lamp was creating the issue since it moved, and that the issue was aggravated by my daughter's cellphone underneath the sensor bar perhaps creating some reflection issues.

To be honest, I don't know. I only ever owned LEGO Indy for the Wii and I put all of 10 minutes into that game many years ago. None of the other LEGO games have ever really appealed to me, but this one really grabbed me. The combat is simple, but there are lots of counter moves and such. There's not a whole lot of combat, though. I get the impression the other games are like that, but this game doesn't have a whole lot of fighting. Even then, it reminds me more of Assassin's Creed than anything else.

Yeah I know Combat its only a mean to an end in the Lego games, which emphasize collectables, but for me the combat was just so dull that it'd usually turn me off from the game unless I was playing Co-Op.

I don't think this game has a lot of fighting at all. Most of the fights are staged and are over quickly. The game is more about the story and wandering around the city. The city is pretty huge and the puzzles are good. My wife hates LEGO games and enjoyed this one so much she 100% it.

I ordered LEGO Batman 2 the other day so I'm gonna compare that to LEGO City because really I have no idea about what the structure of a normal LEGO game is.

Found Most Wanted U for $30 at Best Buy (Canada) the other day.

Yeah its $30 at US Best Buy, Amazon and Gamestop. It seems to be sold out everywhere though. Most of the Best Buys in my state don't have it, Amazon says it will be shipped 2-4 Weeks and even the Gamestop in my town apparently sold its last copy yesterday. I have a feeling EA didn't ship a ton of copies. I think this is going to be the cheapest it'll be. I got Darksiders II for $20 and now Amazon doesn't even sell it.

Speaking of Most Wanted I'm looking for a game to just play on the gamepad and relax looking for secrets. I know Most Wanted has the cars and billboards. The other game I was looking at was the Amazing Spiderman. In that open-world game the comics and other collectibles seem like they could take a decent time to find. I'm not really a Spiderman fan (more of a DC fan but I did really enjoy the 90's cartoon). What are anyone's thoughts on these two games.

Also I have Arkham City but haven't played it because I don't have Asylum and I didn't want to ruin the story. I'll only get a PS3 this Christmas so I'm wondering if I can play AC now and still enjoy AA later. Or should I just wait? I have dozens of games to play but I'm really enjoying off-TV play to just sit back and relax. Its much more ergonomic than my 3DS. Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

Figured I'd pick up Game & Wario at the weekend.

First I tried a large Tesco, figuring they'd probably have it. Turns out that Tesco group Wii U games with Wii games, so the "chart" listing was mostly Wii with two Wii U games in there. Neither of them were Game & Wario. (They also group DS and 3DS. Rubbish shop)

Next I tried Blockbuster Games, but they weren't stocking it.

So in the end I decided that if the retailers don't want my money then that's fine, I'll just get it from the eShop.

Anyway, long story short, I love this game. The minigames all seem quite fun, some more than others, but I don't think there's a duff one. But that's just half the game, the real genius is in the unlockables. I imagine I'm not the only one to submit Game & Wario as evidence in the "are videogames art?" debate, because it really is. Being a little man on the shoulder of a queen who whispers in her ear and has her repeat it to her subjects in a funny voice is utterly pointless, but so hilarious.

Highly recommended.

i quite want W101 & Smash Bros. Though, I feel like that the month after I cave and buy a WiiU Nintendo will cave and drop the price finally. And I will be a sad panda.

Can I offscreen to the gamepad and then play with a pro controller? D:

Depends on the game really. I think you can do that with most that have off-tv play.

Do we know much about how B2 will use the gamepad? It looks to me like their both basically running the same thing. Is that a fairly normal thing for Wii U games?

There is a touch-based mode as an option, and yeh there are a few games where all the Gamepad is doing is mirroring the TV. Some allow you to change what is displayed though, for instance in Revelations you can have your inventory, in ACIII you can have the map and rest of the HUD.

As I had hoped, the release of the Injustice DLC has brought the game back to the Plaza (in NA). Hopefully it encourages more people to buy it.

Interesting. I haven't ever actually seen a gamepad being played before, so I wasn't sure.
