no mention of possible discount makes me sad :<
I hope they do include some sort of discount.
Considering it's a subscription-based game, we shouldn't have to pay too much if we already bought the PS3 version.

I will say one of the benefits of being a Lalafell was that I couldn't really even see my ugly armor that I was wearing because I was so short.![]()
I see no problem with this. It's not like Gilgamesh is some super deep awesome character either but people eat him up.

I think Lalafell is the only race I played where I got trapped in something and had to teleport back. It happened to me twice already, wish I still had the pictures to prove it
I jumped off a roof and landed in a barrel and got stuck, and the second time was roaming and I jumped and got stuck between two rocks. I tried to get stuck with other races (yeah I was bored lol) but I guess lalafell is the only one that can.
Just from playing a little on each weekend, ended up with this badass. Wearing...a black thong over blue jeans...
Armor's weird in this game, guys.

I'm going Balmung at Launch, RP Servers (even unofficial ones) for life, yo.
It's a Win / Win situation for PVE & PVP players, since the two can be balanced without hurting the other.
I hope the leo armor
is still an armor we will be able to get with the PVP.![]()
Wait. You got a Lala stuck in a god damn barrel and didn't take a picture?
I'm so lucky I haven't emptied my recycle bin in like 3 months, I just had to restore it. Anyways it was pretty random, and kinda funny at the time.

Nah I think the main reason people get hype for him is cause of his themeThe cool thing about Gilgamesh was he would just show up in the game as some lackey or guy you had to fight. When he appeared the common reaction is "Hell yeah! Its Gilgamesh time!. He wasn't one of the main protagonists for multiple games who has worn out their welcome over hundreds of lines of dialogue. I would kill for Gilgamesh Returns where you go around beating up all these FF protagonist assholes that stole your armor. You level up by reclaiming your armor. The game writes itself.

Nice, do you use the setup like I described above? Or what's the easiest/most natural way to use it for MMO's?
Are there keyboards that have nothing but hotkey slots and no return/caps/etc?
Yeah, Lightning's armor from XIII-2 would have definitely fit in more with the world of XIV, but I think her XIII one is more iconic so they used that one. Doesn't look like it'd fit in at all, though. *shrug*
finished haukke and the dungeon after that last weekend. i liked that you have to start being careful with how much mobs you pull. we had an impatient lancer with us who got us wiped twice. i had a good laugh when he stepped back quietly and let me pull at my own pacealso the dungeon gave me old everquest vibes somehow. i'd love to have a high level very hard version of this dungeon.

I don't particularly like Lightning, but I don't see how her outfit wouldn't fit at all in ARR's world, is nothing extravagant, and just seems like a letter armour with a cape. If anything it is the cape what makes it stand apart from any other type of armour in the game.

Despite the feather nonsense, more suitable to Eorzea than her 13 design.
I did a Haukke run with an ARC that he liked to run ahead of me (I was MRD) and pull the mobs, it was a pain not just for me but for the CNJ as well. He also kept attacking whatever he liked instead of my target. After telling him to stop doing that, running ahead and attacking whaterver he liked from a group of slept mobs, both the CNJ and me decided to basically just let him die. After his second death he stopped doing that.

I try just mentioning that T is the default button to target the target of something, and that if used while targeting me, you get what should die first. Really haven't had any problems with even the people that ignore it though since I pull like a madman and overpower is overpowered for aoe tanking.

The bigger problem I have with that whole scenario is Lightning herself appearing within the game world as part of a quest. I really dislike that idea personally, and I'm not really someone who hates Lightning like some on here. I just think it's a bit weird to have an actual character make an appearance. *shrug* But I really don't want to get onto that topic too much, lol.
I think GAF is just blinded with hate.
They should expand the minion system for that.
I would love to see a Moogle rental service or allow you to get your own. That can follow you around and carry your items, help you out when needed and give advice.
They should expand the minion system for that.
In Haukke I used Overpower right during a pull and then stop because the mages would get pissed off at me, and to be honest, having all the mobs asleep is just more efficient MP wise than 3-5 of them hitting me at the same time. Also is nothing difficult to keep hate without using it, just using Flash once, and then finishing a Butcher's Block combo on an slept mob when moving to the next target.
Having Lightening in the game as a quest giver isn't a big deal at all. I've seen people flip out over this matter and yet the hell cares. I like the idea to promote Lighting Returns. It's a great idea if you think about it.
I would completely forgive it if they add a similar quest for all the main or most popular characters(Squall at least for me)I suppose. I always thought Lightning's XIII outfit looked a bit too... modern for the world of XIV. But I guess it could work. Haukke was the first dungeon I did in ARR - I actually had a bit of fun with it (I was on White Mage). I really liked the final encounter of the dungeon. Coming from FFXI where boss fights were usually way too tank and spank with no interesting elements thrown in, it was nice. Lots of room for improvement, but still...
I either had casters that didn't sleep, or told them to bite the pillow because I was going in raw. Really didn't care about efficiency at this point in the game since I could chain pull the instance without casters every asking to stop for manas. All that planing works great when you have a well oiled machine, but I just ran with pugs all day who didn't know how to, or listen to focusing on my target.
Seriously though, that cnj knockback is great for singling out a target to sleep. Too bad it isn't sharable.
pls go.
The trope that less armor is more protective...or somethingfan service
It's hardly a great idea. I mean, it's not like it takes a lot of effort to come up with, "Hey, let's toss her in this other game to promote Lightning Returns!"Having Lightening in the game as a quest giver isn't a big deal at all. What a toolI hate subligar so much, as a thief I was pretty much doomed to subligar so often and when I was endgame I was in heca way too much. The Heca type subligar is awesome but that darn slow% made it only useful for weaponskills and TA/SA. It was embarrassing, one gaffer that was helping me do subjob quests a looong time ago wouldn't help me until I put some real pants on. I was a dude, since I have been hesitant to pick dude characters again. Sure enough subligar was back in FFXIV.
That is actually hilarious to me for some reason. I also think it's hilarious that they tend to make subligar stats really good so you're confronted with having to wear them even if you hate it.What a tool
The Beta forum. Not sure if this has been asked already and sorry if it has, but is there a place to check for when an upcoming beta has been scheduled?

It's bold, I guess. That's the only reason why you don't see it more often. You're talking about very blatant advertisement that sticks out like a sore thumb, and the game is based on paid subscriptions.

It's not like that we want to just get more attention from players or get more money by using the elements from previous FF games - it's nothing like that. As a company and as a group, we wanted to make sure that the FF projects have a strong relationship between the dev teams of the numbered titles. We're not necessarily planning to bring back all the characters.

I still think it's a bold move. It really stands to irritate people who would be considering paying a subscription to play the game. It definitely helped to move me from hanging on one side of the fence to hanging on the other. Not just because I hate Lightning (which I do), but because it's such an early precedent for the attitude of the game and how seriously it takes itself. The Beta forum....It's the same company.
I feel like the whole Lightning in FFXIV debacle has been covered enough, but I will say that for me (and this seems to be the general sentiment from others who are upset by it) it just really cheapens the world. I guess some people take the integrity of the lore and world of an MMO more seriously than others. I know Yoshi-P said "Oh yeah I definitely care and we are going to make it fit please wait and see." but the fact is it's simply being shoehorned in as best they can manage. The fact that it's optional content also doesn't do much to soften the blow, since she will still be in the world and people will be running around in those costumes . An MMO is a shared experience.Okay so maybe i was to blunt about the promote aspect. I just don't see it being a bad idea having her in the game, besides maybe she's there for a limited time or something. Who knows. If people have a huge issue with it, then don't bother doing the quest then. Not trying to sound like a dick and if i do sound like one then my apologizes. I just don't see a HUGE deal with her being in there.
