ive got nothing left to do for this phase. so im pretending to be a levemete officer in costa del sol when im online. stop by and say hi. ALL LEVES ARE CANCELLED! NO LONGARM!

I've been cutting trees and admiring the way the forest changes colors depending on the time of day. Watching the lighting of this world is mesmerizing.

Is there any sort of beginner guide online? This is my first MMO, I've played a couple hours and have just been doing quests for random townsfolk by myself. Not sure if there's a recommended way to do things. I still have my starting sword so I'm saving up for a bow / better sword.

This beta gears you up through quests almost all the way to 15. You certainly are going out of the way instead of following the story quest path. Just focus on the story and do the sidequests that you find next to them, you'll get geaqred up with the rewards, get tons of experience and unlock the different systems and features. Basically don't stray from the story path until at least level 15.

I suggest doing Guildhests as soon as you have unlocked them. They teach you the basics how to play gainst certain enemy patterns in a group.

I don't care about VA, but Arcanist being in Phase 4 sounds awesome. Hopefully, it will give Limsa population a kick.

I think I'll be joining the Limsa team when I make a return, as a marauder main and the prettying up it's had I think it's time to settle by the sea side.

Again thanks everyone for the posts/comments/pics of the beta so far, I've been holding off playing these phases so that I don't wear myself out repeating it all again for phase 4.

Edit; Question > Does anyone know the class or armour that the Roegadyn was wearing in the most recent trailer that was released? It's got wings on the back and looks awesome. Sorry I can't find the trailer...

So, I go to Haukke Manor to unlock the dungeon and there are these two guys sitting outside the Manor just chatting. I sit down, and suddenly they both get up and put on strange.. pink outfits and sit on each side of me. "Hello, master." says one of them. Duty Finder saved me, and I started the dungeon. After I finished the dungeon around an hour later, I reappear at the Manor where I was before.. and they're both standing right there.

"MASTER!" One yells at me. The other appears second later and shouts the same. "We waited for you for so long." I then began to run around, they followed close behind. This went on for a while until I finally bailed out via teleport. I went to Ul'dah first, because well.. I wanted to buy some dye for my armor. Sure enough, they appear right after. "Master! Why did you leave us? HAVE OUR BABIES!"

So, I teleport to Drybone. They pop up right after. Then I remember... that there was one area that nobody was likely to appear at. I teleported to Northern Thanalan, which is an empty area with nothing to do in Phase 3.. and they appear not too long after, once again. I'm guessing they just searched for me and found out where I was. "You're going to pay for abandoning us." One of them said, and then my internet shut off right at that moment. It took about an hour for it to start working properly again.

Creepy thread

I'll just leave this right here...

There's no way you can see how much hate do you have on an enemy you're fighting, right?
I remember this was posible on 1.0

There is a list of enemies on the left side of the screen when you engage something. This has a bar meter indicating how much hate you have on an enemy.

Awww, you have some fans, that's so sweet!

Keep running.

If I mash the key for a different spell from the previous one cast (i.e. going from Blizzard to Lightning), I'll often get the original spell name popping up, but it still casts the spell I was going for. I'd guess if you're not getting Ice/Fire that often you're having serious lag issues, or it's a bug.

Yeah, I noticed this yesterday when I was messing around on my THM. It's really annoying because sometimes I think I'm cast the wrong spell, so I interrupt myself. It looks like a bug of some sort.

This foliage quality is jokes right?

Some others I took after the painfully slow intro. I couldn't wait for that thing to end so I could actually get control of my character. Hopefully I'll get a little farther today and actually experience the combat.

All downsampled from 5120x2160.

those downdampled shots look great.

I wish the game had better AA. The game would look so much better with good AA.

That's a good question to ask the developers JLeack. is the AoE ring a latency thing or is it simply not representative of the actual size?

Well, I don't know if every AoE attack has a latency issue, but I remember noticing that for the goblin bomb toss, if you leave the circle before it disappears but after the animation of the tossing has gone off, you will still be hit. So I am unsure if that's working as intended or not. I simply operate under the rule of thumb not to wait until the last second to escape the circle :)

Those down-sampled images look really great, what FPS were you getting with that ?

Everyone who had key registration problems check your emails soon.
Just got the new email with a key that successfully registered.

Now for the next problem, is there anything special I have to do to log on the beta test forums and download the client? It won't accept my login that has the beta registered for some reason.

Are you guys using a keyboard with this game on the ps3? Typing using the controller is a pain in the backside!

I have a USB one..but I would prefer using a wireless one. How good is the one that you can attached to the controller? Anyone using it?

Q: Is it possible to have a storefront with a counter in your housing area?
A: Yes, this is possible. We will continue to add objects for the housing area. In order to set up a store within your house, you will need to place a store-like object within your house, have the house accessible to everyone, and then have the retainer act as the seller.

Weirdly this sounds really cool lol.

GOT/ASOIAF is a plague outnumbering the own FF series. I think I have already seen the entire cast in way or another, even words like Dracarys and Morghulis.

I haven't see much anime actually.

I thought it was just lag, but I guess the problem runs deeper.

Wouldn't be surprised if SE made tests with players using fiber optics connection in Japan 10 km away from the datacenters and concluded "yep, our netcode is perfect".

^I thought VAs were confirmed along with the Arcanist for phase 4. Someone correct me if I'm mistaken.

On a related note, any word on fishing? Will it be added for p4?

Finally just got in yesterday, a friend from twitter send me a code and redeem it without problems. Sadly, it was too late when the download for the full game ended and i just finished the first quest.

Hopefully, today i'll give it a long try and see what's going on with the game.

Oh, good, "Faust Fortwood," doesn't trigger fit any of the bad name bingo slots. Good thing I went with a name I would want to keep, rather than going throw-away.

I will admit I've seen a LOT of bad names in the game so far. Thankfully I think at least some people will switch to different names for the retail release.
