Pacific Rim |OT| Apocalypse Never

I'm not sure if I like the Regular or the Variant version better, though. The Variant will be more rare [75 as opposed to 175], but I think I like the blue/grey color scheme in the Regular version better.

I like the regular. I'm kinda miffed I missed the one they had one sell yesterday, though.

I'm leaning towards that one too. The Variant lends a kind of...sepia-tone feeling to it, and I prefer the cooler colors in the Regular version.

Here's hoping it doesn't sell out too fast...

Sorry to hear you missed out on the one that sold yesterday. I saw them listed on Ebay and they're already selling for a premium.

If only people purchased items that they actually wanted, and not to make a profit. I will not get into that whole argument, though, I know many are for it. They are entitled to their opinion, but it's something I would never do.

I wish you luck in grabbing one, should you decide to pursue it.

It was predictable, and goofy. The acting was over the top. Except that it had a budget, it was a modern B-Movie.

And I loved it.

This is it. We've done it. The human race has finally created an action movie in its purest, most epitomized form. This entire movie felt like a rollercoaster that I didn't want to end, and was the most fun I've had at the cinema since I saw my favourite movie, Hot Fuzz, back in 2007. Does it have flaws? Yeah, but they're negligible in the big picture since the rest of this film is just so breathtaking. Pacific Rim transforms you into a ten-year-old child, and I don't know many ten-year-old children who care much about flat characters or a silly script.

I'll go into full-on critic mode when I go back to see it again for my professional review, but for now I just want to savour this feeling. Hats off del Toro, you've done it again.

Nah, I'm not going to pay ridiculous prices for a poster. I do that enough where figures are concerned.
Haha, I understand completely. :)

I'll try to grab the Yoji Shinkawa poster, and the Regular Version posted above [for retail] and then I'm done with Pacific Rim merchandise. As you mentioned, there are numerous figures being released in the coming months that I must prepare for!

Rewatching the ending titles, I don't think I'll ever forget how I told my friends to put their glasses back on as they ended after I heard about an awesome mid-credits sequence.

Lo and behold Ron Perlman breaks out and yells, "Where's my goddamn shoe?" or something to that effect. Cut to black.

I didn't expect it at all and my friends and I just laughed it off.

I love this movie too much. I need to see it again.

Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?
I asked my friend if he was going to see Pacific Rim

He replied "not in this life time."

I asked why and he called Pacific Rim childish--said he grew up 10 years ago. Then he gave a list of movies that he still had to watch which included Hangover pt. 3 and Grown Ups 2.

I don't know why I'm friends with him.
The Hangover!? I mean, I liked the first one but let's face it that's frat boy shit. Ah the irony.

I give it 4/5 stars for being a movie that just cut the fat out of it and just went here is the backstory, here is the action. Some of the dialogue was bad and Charlie Hunnam is not a good actor at all.

I may see it again in 2d because some of the 3d I couldn't keep up with and the action became a jumbled mess.

I saw this on true Imax.. A glorious thing to see.

Th movie was so fucking bad but so good. The lead reminded me of the actor from Tron. Absolutely no charisma and a very odd delivery.

Finished watching it, had to go to the 3D showing since we missed the regular by an hour. I'm glad we did, one of the few movies I've seen where it actually helped the film. Sense of size is awesome.
My only problems with the film were the overbearing score and the main character was to wooden. Spoilerish:
Next movie should feature Perlman building his own Jaeger battling monster in the next dimension for money.

Yeah, I mean, more power to him if he's willing to see those movies. But then to say Pacific Rim is too childish and he won't watch it?

Dude's got some crazy double standards going on.

at last, for christ's sake
just came back from seeing it, and bloody hell, fantastic fun. Something that HAS to be seen on the big screen: it's got all the cliches but you stop giving a shit about them once these giant, beautiful robots start demolishing the entire planet. The bluray will definitely dampen the experience, so if you got the chance and are interested in this summer's second big blockbuster, go see it in a theater. It's just fun!

I just finish watching this movie in 3D Imax. Excellent. The only real disappointment is how
they kill off the other Jaegers so damn fast.

Are a lot of you still looking for Yoji Shinkawa posters?

I can't speak for everyone, but I still am.

I'm checking Ebay every 30 minutes or so [as much as I can], and while I do see a few listings listed, they only ship to the US and not Canada.

It really is quite frustrating.

Yeeeeeeees. They don't have Regal theatres in Canada :'(

I would like to help out. I can give you and Chrono a free poster if you can please pay the shipping. I'm in California so I don't know how that works. They had many at Regal and weren't even passing them out just on the edge of a table somewhere. I grabbed some :) But I can even ship tomorrow. I guess I gotta find some tubes that are gigantic to ship these in.

Just got back. I am a bit disappointed, because this really didn't feel like del Toro to me. There were flashes here and there, and the premise is something I can definitely seeing del Toro gravitating to, but surprisingly, I felt it was a bit restrained. Yes, it's robots fighting monsters--that's about as unrestrained as you can get--but it was lacking in visual charm.

I still enjoyed it. Quite a bit a times. I also thought it was a great movie to bring a kid to, and not because of the rocket punches, but because there was no cussing; the motives were genuine; and there wasn't any mean=spiritedness. It was a wholesome movie.

It also felt strangely like a sequel to me, but that's probably due to the fact I read the prequel comic. I think I would have preferred to have seen the prequel comic on the big screen.

I think this movie is going to do poorly, though. A shame.

I would like one too if there any extra available. I'd be glad to pay for one since there aren't any Regals here in Toronto

You are a true hero for doing this, seriously. You have no idea how much it means to both me and ScraftyDevil [I think I'm confident enough with his feelings to speak for him].

I would absolutely pay for shipping as well as toss in a bit extra for your time in doing so. It really means a lot!

Yeah, you are the definition of a gentleman and a scholar and I'll happily pay the shipping plus a little bit extra for your effort.

Seriously though, thank you so much. That poster is going to make my life.

Well, I have 7 for you guys in this thread, especially Canada since you guys are having such a difficult time :) So far I see it's you, Chrono and Scrafty. So I guess theres 4 for grabs. I sent my pregnant wife to get some for you guys lol (and me of course). I haven't followed the thread that closely and I know not everyone is going to be happy. I only have 7 as I said. If you guys can PM me your zip code I can go to the post office when they open tomorrow and tell you guys how much shipping would be to send this. Then maybe I can tell you guys my paypal?

wishes it were bannable to say mean things about Marvel
I saw it tonight with my gf.

Holy Mother of God.

I loved it. The entire thing, I honestly don't have much of any negative feelings about it at all. I mean, sure it wan't perfect, but man did I love every second of it. Honestly it was better than I expected, and by better I mean fun, enjoyable, entertaining, and thoroughly smile inducing. I went in on full hype mode expecting a lot. And still, I walked out being impressed.

My gf, she really isn't a Godzilla or huge monster fan at all, so she went in not expecting to like it much. But she came out loving the hell out of it, which surprised her greatly. She can't stop talking about it, lol. Neither of us can.

We are going to see it again on Sunday, it may be my favorite movie of the year so far, even more than Star Trek which I loved.

If this isn't a hit I'm gonna be depressed on Sunday. I loved the fight scenes in Superman and Ironman, but this movie is much better than the other two.

Eugh had a cinema employee confirm that EVERY poster they had to give away was taken home by an employee before they even got out for customers. WTFFFFFF

What a movie. Everyone I saw it with agreed that it's the movie of the summer. Del Toro's passion and imagination are all over this film from the mech design, to the monsters, to the colorful characters.

The Eva fan in me was making smiling like a madman at the action sequences.

I'm not a mecha fan and Pacific Rim is everything I didn't know I wanted. Kojima was right.

ALL of them? Dude's gonna make bank now. Unless they terminate him because of this.

I caved and bought the other poster from eBay. I might have one of the Yoji Shinkawa left over to give away if my friend was able to get the poster himself.

If anyone has a poster I would love to get my hands on one.

The movie felt like an anime to me. The dialogue was really anime-like.

Best acting performance:
that little girl who played young Mako. That was a very important scene that detailed one of the protagonist's big personal conflicts, and a lesser acting performance could have screwed it up, but that little girl did it just about perfectly. No fake movie crying like a lotta kids, her slow turn around and realization that it was over, the way she stumbled out of that alley, all great

Yeah, I really liked that scene!

I may actually try to see it again in IMAX 3D in NYC tomorrow... I want to experience this movie on a BIG screen.

I'll drop my vote as well in the Man of Steel vs. Pacific Rim thing going on in this thread since I just came back from seeing both and MoS surprised me as the better film sorry

I cringed way too much during Pacific Rim I am a huge Manga and Anime nut so I wanted to love it but seriously it was hard to get into it. Amazing visuals though but what I do love about Anime and Manga is that they do try hard to be a little deep even with crazy stories.

Maybe if ID4 never happened this would have been more enjoyable I would have loved it when I was 14 years old. Not in my late 30s

I liked it. But the Hype it has gotten was not even close to what it delivered
