Dishonored is US$10 on Steam. You should buy it.

I will buy it eventually, but I have little motivation to buy games with upcoming DLC (single player, anyway). I'd prefer to buy a game once and get the complete experience. I'm content to wait.
 
Should I buy void walkers arsenal? I don't want to cheat through the game if it will give me bonuses. I don't understand what you actually get.

It's part one of two covering Daud's perspective of events. It is three missions long, length depending on your pay style, speed, and will to explore. With the exception of maybe the last mission, the missions themselves are constructed like Dishonored's best, with multiple zone, paths, assassination techniques, lore, and optional secrets.

Part 2, titled The Brigmore Witches, should be properly announced tomorrow.

EDIT: Dunwall City Trials is an arcade driven pack. No story to speak of, but instead a series of challenges based on speed, power usage, assassination, theft, puzzle solving, and so on. For what it is, a score focused arcade mode, it's actually very good and what should be expected from that kind of DLC. But it is what it is, and if you're not really into arcade stuff without story it probably wont appeal.

Yo EC did you get a chance to review this when it came out? I already played it at launch and recently re-bought it over the weekend, but I'd love to read your thoughts on it.
 
I'm gonna bite the bullet and get this. It's hard not to with that price.

Is the game very taxing on the specs? My computer is only slightly under the minimum requirements. For reference, I can run Just Cause 2 on medium settings with only some stutter.

I'm really tempted to pick this up, but a) I have enough of a backlog to keep me busy until the next Steam Sale and b) I expect I'll be able to get Dishonored Gold, or GOATY edition, or something like that on sale at a later date.
 
I would, but my backlog is so massive that I wouldn't get to it before the Winter Sale and I know it will be cheaper then. So I wait.
 
Probably worth getting for $10, though I bought at full price and wasn't really compelled to finish it. 6 hours in and I was bored, I didn't really see what all the GOTY hype was about. I found it pretty standard stealth fare with an aesthetic I didn't really dig.

I just don't want to see any animals being actively hurt. How bad is the slaughterhouse level? Are the whales all already dead with the one exception you can kill? And how horrific do they depict its situation? :-\

I don't mind the depiction of "grisly aftermath" in videogames, but it's hard to watch animals actively hurt. :-\
 
Great game. I'd advise against going complete stealth your first time through. The game is more interesting with a mix of combat and stealth than going stealth only (though the game encourages it with achievements, you are outfitted to be deadly).

I regret going stealth only my first time through.

If I recall correctly, there's one dead one, partially butchered, and one live one (intact with no obvious injuries), and the live one
can be killed by electrocution, but the animation isn't particularly horrific, just some brief spasms. You can pluck out its eye for a side quest but there's no animation for that.
 
Oh man. I bought it for $17.99 yesterday? When I could have gotten the game plus the DLC for less today? I hate you steam. Well it's the first time I'm gonna play the game. Ill decide on the DLC later.

Yeah, I actually looked this up on YouTube and it's fine. What about the main game? Just ships in the distance with no real signs of suffering?

Maybe that's a bit too harsh, but you may have a point.
It's baffling how DLCs are supposed to be a way to extract more money from a happy customer and yet to me they can be a giant mood-killer when I'm considering a new purchase.

"Oh, look, the game is on sale and the price is very low!"
*looks at the Steam page*
"...But it comes with half dozen of DLCs that raise that amount by a sensible margin. I think I'll pass".
 
Didn't like this game. And I'm a huge Thief/Deus ex fan. I felt it was too streamlined.

But after experiencing he tragedy that is Bioshock Infinite, I appreciated Dishonored a little bit more. At least it offered the player some agency.

That's mostly just because the game is pretty easy though.

The game has some neat movement stuff you can do which works a lot better with mouse and keyboard IMO.

Maybe Metal Gear is more your thing. And his post makes no sense, I could see someone saying that about something like the Walking Dead or Heavy Rain (I'd still disagree) but it just makes no sense at all as criticism about Dishonored.

Oh? More single player coming? Glad I waited, I dislike playing SP games when more stuff comes later, I'll wait as well :). Would have gotten it at the price but I like a whole package. Thanks bro/a.

Buying to support new and interesting IPs. I've wanted this game, but have a rule where I rarely spend more than $10 on a game. I saw it on the voter the first day and was disappointed they chose another game.

Plus it's a fun game.
