Fighting Games Weekly | July 15-21 | Post-EVO Pillow Talk

Confused as to the secrecy regarding the 5th character. This is obviously being aimed solely at the people who still play the game, and those people are likely going to buy the upgrade regardless, so long as the gameplay changes don't completely break the game.

Yet they're being free with describing the gameplay changes/character tweaks (the major selling point to their customer base for this update) but hiding the 5th character, who they must know is someone that likely won't stir up any strong feelings one way or the other due to the restrictions placed on their inclusion.

It's a completely backwards strategy. It's hype for the sake of hype, and it's empty.

The real answer is that they barely began work on this update and just announcing a character they have barely started, a character that sounds like it exists in the ephemera of the Street Fighter universe that guys who only played SF2 on the SNES and SF4 won't give a shit about, so a reveal by name and without a trailer will go over like a lead balloon. If you look at the USF4 trailer the SFxT characters barely did combos and did no Ultras or Supers because that stuff wasn't done.

Capcom thinks that Marvel needs a rebalance. #SDCC

Maybe the worst thing about these panels is that the people on the panels are at the mercy of the people asking the questions, and almost nobody who asks questions at comic-con panels are anything but dipshits.

So the chances of a good question getting asked, one that might lead to decent information, drops to like, 15%.

a reveal by name and without a trailer will go over like a lead balloon.

it's not gonna go over any better by falsifying empty hype and engendering a guessing game amongst the people interested. All that's going to happen is the inflation of false expectations and more than likely, a stream of ideas that will be better recieved than the resulting reality.

If you had to choose between just announcing the character and saying "We have no footage yet" or leading the audience on only to present them a character so tangential to the Street Fighter games that they've never actually BEEN in one before up to this point, you might as well just give them the name, because again - the most important part of this update isn't the 5th character (or any mystery surrounding them) it's the gameplay tweaks.

Early 2014 isn't "barely began work".

Calm down dude, we still need more info, that Chindogg tweet was very ambiguous
But if it is for real REAL, I wanna get into the suggestion list

Suggestion list is still on going, we talk about it in the OT every single day. Today was assist system changes.

They want us to talk about it.. THEN WE FUCKING WILL!!!

NOTHING STOPS THIS TRAIN!

As someone who was generally disappointed with the UMvC3 roster, I don't want to hear about no re-balance. Let the bad-boy die. I wonder what the difference in licensing and negotiations will be for a mere re-balance vs adding content (characters). If they can get away with a re-balance fairly easy then by all means do it, but if it is going to be a long and expensive process just save the assets for Marvel 4.

Marvel re-balance hype would be the biggest ball of crazy ever seen in the FGC.

Then again, they're not going to address the fundamental flaws with the game, :-
