Fighting Games Weekly | July 15-21 | Post-EVO Pillow Talk

Hmm, does this mean that negotiating a contract with Marvel could be easier than in the past? How hands-on is Disney with respect to Marvel properties?

I just leave it at disney owns marvel. disney makes capcom make that game.why? iono. but i cant wait to see what new disney idea. maybe hd disney classics.

because if there is a patch. there will be more costumes for the marvel characters relating to current times.**good for marvel now**..but the patch only really helps capcom in the long run.

Capcom remakes Disney game.

Disney buys Marvel

???

Profit!

Can't wait for Capcom to think about the marvel patch, look at all the changes and then go "nah, we'll do something else". I'd want to see the receipts from them first.

what the fuck did I come home to

I need receipts on what was actually said, beyond a Chindogg tweet. Phrasing is key. If there was an actual request for balance feedback, they would have set out a link or directed people to a hub, or else it's some informal thing said without a follow-up.

Just hop aboard the HYPE TRAIN... you know you want to son.

At least come in the god damn OT and share your thoughts. No matter if a patch is coming or not... Capcom wants to hear some patch talk so might as well give some input on it in the OT. Even Gonzo and ShadyK are chiming in!

Here's a more direct quote from someone after they were asked about it specifically:

Black_Vegeta @BVyoutubeGOD
@dat_juliano he said after what they saw at EVO finals, there's some changes that can be made. Nothing confirmed though

Also Viscant confirmed to be working overtime on his new blog post talking about Marvel patch in detail. Like I said... NOTHING IS STOPPING THIS TRAIN!!!!

fuck man

now I HAVE to read all those essays

Essentially, the game is going to be featured by the FGC, whether Capcom supports it or not.

Capcom figures this out, and realizes that the game in its current state....says bad things about them as a company. Hence, patch.

Can I just ask that we keep the bulk of the nitty gritty patch stuff in the OT? Definitely been great discussion going on post-EVO but last year around infinite time all that nitty gritty stuff poured into this thread.

That said, the biggest reason I fear a Marvel patch is that there are too many people who don't really have a good idea on how things interact (I put myself in this broader category). Right now, pretty sure people who stopped playing after month 1 are ready to obliterate Doom into the lowest of tiers because foot dive is too strong, or something.

I really think balancing Marvel is probably the most difficult endeavor anyone can take on a fighting game, and that's partially because you never know how stuff will interact or what can be exploited because of the assist element. Nothing will be good enough to last. Though I do feel MvC3 is pretty damn well balanced for what it is, hence my let it rock stance on it all before, there is stuff that COULD be better that don't require for lack of better words more "content" to be added in.

I don't trust anyone at Capcom (even Combofiend) being able to sum everything up without missing something AND handle it properly. You are gonna need essays, and going to need open discussion, not just lists of shit, but justifications in the broader context of the cast.

It's too late for a UMvC3 patch. By the time any patch comes, this game will not hold much relevance outside of the tournament scene.

I'd highly prefer a new 3v3 game (Capcom All-Stars, Nintendo vs. Capcom, etc - whatever fits the 3v3 gameplay system). Doesn't have to be marvel again. But there needs to be a new game from Capcom, not a patch, that can reinvigorate the gameplay. A new game will gather a lot more interest from casual players as well. A patch is (for the large part and especially this late) only going to interest those that are still playing this game/have invested a lot of time learning the game.

Just my opinion.

I suspect they're considering putting this game on the Nesica arcade system in Japan. They're moving SF4 to it, and it would allow them to make the adjustments while giving themselves some revenue in the process.

Easier said than done. These games cost tens of millions to make, market and distribute.

Outside of the tournament scene, no game is relevant after a month, broadly speaking. Maybe past whatever season pass time. The long-term investment is the tournament scene. Even the SF patch is kinda beyond me. I think they're only really doing it to volley up SF into the next eSports venture that they are starting with Capcom Cup, and only because it's their marquee title on like double the platforms of their second most popular (MvC3).

Essays are already being made son... hell you know it's serious when Gonzo went ham with a 3 pager.

And all the nitty gritty stuff IS in the OT. No one has even made a real suggestion here, mostly just troll suggestions.

Once so many ppl talk about balancing and shit Capcom will be interested and then next thing you know, they'll make shit legit and then once they announce all the buffs/nerfs/systemchanges then they'll be like, "Yooo, since we're doing this, we'll add new characters too" and BAM WE GOOD TO GO FOR AN UPGRADE.

EVERYONE PLEASE SAY SIGMA FOR UMVC3.

Characters are extraordinarily expensive to make. A balance patch is probably the most we can squeeze out of Capcom.

I think the big thing is how are they going to round up the original team for umvc3 since they're all working on different projects. Will it be a new team or the old one?

Vanilla Jenny would not be more than Mid tier in the current game.
She wasn't even great, it was just the Tron Bonne assist + her that wrecked face.

We were hoping you'd work with the Marvel OT to direct discussion there. Post the week's patch topic in the FGW thread to help keep people abreast of the situation.

Normally it takes a Karsticles OT post to get that kind of response.
Hahahaha. Yeah, I try not to share my opinions there too often. :-P

a lot of people don't understand this.

This is why they are taking material from SFxT and editing them for USF4 is because its expensive to make new content. But the balance update it the KEY thing to USF4 and is what they are putting their energy into.
