I really hope the keys are coming in waves and mine just hasn't gotten here yet. This is going to be quite disappointing after getting my hopes up with PS+ and being a Vita owner since launch.

It has been shoddy, coming from another day one Vita owner.

People getting multiple codes. People without Vita's getting codes. All while some don't get a code. This whole thing with 'only a few' PS Plus members getting a code is also mildly annoying. Was priority given to people who applied to the earlier beta, and didn't get in? Probably not.

At least this is keeping me distracted until Gamescom.

WOW I am impressed. I can see myself putting in a TON of hours in this game. This is how you make a FPS on the Vita.

My God..what kind of sorcery is this game...How did GG get it to look this good and run this smooth? damn. I am impressed. I remember when the teaser video was released and people doubted that the game would look that good but now I'm a believer. Kudos.. Its a pity this game wouldn't rake in the the cash though. Had cod been this good, the vita might've been doing better in NA

Like this is one of the best online shooters this years. So intense, so responsive, so satisfying.
 
It's great how much they improved from the closed beta. New SHORELINE map is good too. Here's hoping they bring us RADEC ACADEMY!!
 
Had an absolute blast...if some of my team mates weren't so chicken shit would have done even better lol This game delivers and delivers well

Do you mean the hacking? I have yet to touch MP, only been playing the single player campaign so far, so don't know if there's hacking in MP?

Yes hacking. There's like 6 symbols on the sides and one symbol in the middle. I wish they had a small tutorial on it or something
 
hacking is easy, you take blocks from the side and place them in blocks in the center that have matching illuminated portions, for example if top and bottom and left and right are lit, only pieces with any arrangement of these portions would work.

How are the patches for this game? they never fixed people glitching ontop of Turbine Concourse in KZ3 (always get 1 dude getting 20-0)
Hope this doesn't have the same issue.

I'm really hoping the post above about it going open beta tomorrow is true so we all get in. I thought it was supposed to be like the 23rd for that or something.

I wish I had an EU code to trade you so we both win. I don't get how they decided who get keys when people without Vitas have received one while actual Vita PS+ users are still hoping for one.

Hacking was a big wtf at first but I understand it now. Not a big fan of it though, lol.
 
There is no auto-balance in this game. So if 3 people in my team quit, a dude from the different team isn't being moved over.

Are the counters coming out for you guys? I get the the indicator that I did the correct swipe (it flashes) but then nothing happens. Only worked one 1 of 5 times for me.

(Spawning is still bullshit in the game.)
 
Would people playing say that the maps are a good size for the number of players. Not too big or small?

This may be a silly question, but why are there footprints? Do people leave footprints behind as they walk over certain surfaces?
Helghan seems pretty dirty.

There are no codes for the EU open beta. Everyone with PS+ and a Vita gets in tomorrow.
28th of August (if I remember correctly) everyone with a Vita gets in, irrespective of PS+ status.
Really looking forward to tomorrow, my hype for this game is rising after reading impressions in this thread! #TeamBritishSpaceNazis :D
 
Melee is so stupid. As is the hacking mini-game, which isn't explained outside of "LOL HACK THESE (how? you dunno? lol!)" Too much shit on the touchscreen and the controls are kinda junky.

But I'll admit that this is the FPS that should define the system in regards of aim acceleration. I don't feel like I'm fighting the controls like I was in Call of Duty. Which is good. I don't feel the traditional Killzone Lag either which is good.

I dunno if I'd buy it for the multiplayer though. It isn't grabbing me with the small maps and clusterfuck gameplay.

I'm sure the hacking minigame will be explained in the single-player, and perhaps in the multplayer of the final release. Gimmicky touchscreen controls come with the territory of this being a year two PS VIta title.

Personally, I'm going to wait to see if COD: Ghosts is coming to the Vita, and if so how it performs, before buying Killzone.

the hack part is explained in singleplayer.. it´s easy .. really easy.. lol melee seems fine in SP, don´t know about MP haven´t been able to play online..

Given there's no singleplayer in the public beta... that doesn't help. I've been in rounds where people get shot while attempting to hack the system for the hack rounds. Then the game basically says "well, fuck all four of you since you dunno how to play this mode! lolz!" and moves on to body count.

When the game auto-hacks those for you to gain "killstreaks" it's nice. But when you have to manually hack it's horrible.

Then add in that nearly everything is on triangle when I want weapon switch on that and yeah... But that's a problem/system issue since the same damn thing happened in Resistance (demo) and Call of Duty (pack-in which was horribad): Too much shit (prone/crouch/melee/grenades/sprint) that get in the way of shooting because they add all of these to be like the "console brothers" but shouldn't.

Either include grenades but no sprint (thereby everyone moves at the same speed and can dodge grenades if they're careful and fast) or include sprint but no melee or grenades or something. There has to be a trade off to where there isn't fifty things on each button. This isn't a Killzone specific issue though.

i agree the the amount of functions feels forced and cramped into the controls... but i got used to it for the most part and its not as much of an issue anymore.

the game itself more than makes up for it. and if i could choose between this or having an fps lacking functionality and leaving a lot to be desired i'd prefer the former.

how long have you been playing the beta for?? give it a chance for you to get used to it. im not one for MP or FPSs and i've gotten addicted to this one.

i think the melee is implemented really well. i hated it at first because i didn't know how to use it properly. you just can't go around meleeing everyone, its more of a selective tactic. its slow.. but instakill. you can't just go around like in halo and starting thumping away at people, which is what i originally was doing and kept getting killed.

i dont like how i don't know when its going to be melee or counter or interrogate...knowing when all those extra swipes are coming would be good.
 
This is a pretty average beta so far. Graphics are impressive, and the shooting feels really good. However the sensitivity is all whacked out and 4v4 Warzone just doesn't really work with how bad the map is. :\

That said, the game is a lot better with players who have some understanding of the maps and mechanics.
 
I started playing for a bit last night, and I'm attempting to play right now (taking forever to join a game), but I definitely enjoyed what little time I've had with this title already. I think the graphics are phenomenal and the shooting feels....right, I guess is the best way to put it. And the prospect of playing this game on other maps has me hooked already. I have the title payed off and am just waiting for release, but this is one of the rare occasions the a MP component is going to be a major drawing point for me as I tend to stick with single player games and game modes. If I can plop myself into a match, I'm planning on playing the hell outta this today, especially since its my only day off and I need a break from Xillia and Blacklist. Which Blacklist I picked up yesterday at a local shop and got my hands on it a day early. Loving that game too, but that's for another thread. Anyways, my PSN is SumthinOriginal if anyone wants to play a few matches later.

Also, what's with the music? It seems to fade in and out randomly.

I was expecting this game to look good, but it really is phenomenal.
 
A melee counter can only be done when you are being melee'd from in front.
When it occurs, you have to perform the counter gesture before the other player finishes their melee gesture (taking into account network delay).

This way, if you spot someone before they melee you, you can usually get ready for the counter and have a good chance to best them - but if they attack from behind or you weren't expecting it it's almost impossible to reactively counter unless they are slow or screw it up. Just as it should be. :-)

Also reminder; in the options menu there is "display preferences" which lets you configure how much of the HUD is displayed.

How does interrogation work?

If you incapacitate an enemy (they are in bleed out - ie, shot in the legs) or they are tranquillized - then they will be lying on the ground (typically screaming for help / mercy :)
When they are in this state, their teammates can revive them - or you can go up to them and start the interrogation. This is two easy swipe gestures, but it takes a long time so you are open to being shot. If you complete it, you get a pretty big reward plus enemies will be displayed on you, and your team's radar for a short time. :-) It's a huge tactical advantage if you get it.

The other option is if you catch someone from directly behind - and they are unaware of you. In these cases, the normal melee becomes a full interrogation.

As for the music, I believe that is a bug at the mo.

Downloaded my Home E3 code last night and played a few games. Looks great, runs smooth, pretty much exactly what I expected from a solid FPS on Vita. Only complaint was there was no one in the games I was playing. Rooms were 2 on 1/3 on 1.

But I liked it a lot.
