(If you are) Why are you getting an XBox One?

COD (dedicated servers and don't have to wait a month for DLC-have to admit I'm tired of that (well played MS))
Madden League with friends.
Project Spark
XBL friends ( I have a good group. We have game nights and tournaments).
Killer Instinct
Live is finally worth the price (dedicated servers for many/all? games)

I'm getting a PS4 as well.

Far better exclusives on XB1 for me so far. Also, I prefer the Xbox user interface.

I'm only slightly worried about the performance of multi-platform titles compared to PS4. I'll get a PS4 too eventually, so that's not a big deal, though. Still worried for now.

I enjoy video games.
I have had very good experiences with Xbox in the past.
I really enjoy Halo.
I really love the 360 controller and the new controller should be even better.
My friends are more likely to buy Xbox than Playstation, though this has flipped in the past.

That said I will definitely be picking up a PS4 at some point...once the good exclusives start rolling in.

-Titanfall
-New controller looks like amazing
-I actually plan on using the HDMI-in features with TV, seamless switching and integration sounds FANTASTIC.
-Have lots MSP and Gold left still, and would rather use that up than switch to PS Plus (for now)
-Am very interested to see what's in store for MS, as they seem to be trying to do everything possible to please/appeal to the consumer- thus, I hope I get some more free junk
-Also, have a way higher attachment to MS exclusives as of now than anything else

When you compare the two. The PS4 is really just a more powerful PS3 with some social integration. Basically another gaming machine. Some folks are happy with that, but for the amount of money these things cost I expect more than that. I believe once the general public get to see all the multimedia functionality of XB1 and how it integrates into your home theater/TV setup its going to be a game changer.

Also this, but I didnt want to instigate any conflicts lol

I used to be a hardcore gamer but I don't play as much anymore. Also, I plan on buying both Xbox One and PS4. With that said, here are my reasons:

  • Kinect - My little sister likes some "hardcore" games as much as I do but she also likes casual and Kinect stuff as well. I hope they have some kind of "hardcore" Kinect game that actually works.
  • Entertainment hub - My mom watches a lot of TV and sports, so this will also be for her
  • Ecosystem - this one is hugely debatable and unproven but I have plans to develop for the Microsoft ecosystem (Windows 8, WP8). Hoepfully they officially announce the merging of the ecosystems together.
  • And of course, the games - Mainly Halo and Fable. Granted, Microsoft doesn't have too first-party exclusives; but none of the Sony franchises/games really interest me except for God of War and Metal Gear.

Metal Gear will be on the XBO.

On day one? For Peggle 2.

I was always going to buy both consoles anyway. Can't wait for 60fps Halo and Quantum Break (big Remedy fan). The fiancée loves the Kinect stuff and is looking forward to Zoo Tycoon.

Prefer the launch window games, Project Spark, Forza, DR3, Crimson Dragon. Always preferred the 360 UI/eco-system and the X1 looks to continue that.

Kinect as well, even more now, because of Project Spark.

Because it's shiny and I know I won't regret the purchase.

Pretty much the same thing I wrote in the other thread!

So why are you picking up Microsofts's next console?
No caveats:
Just give me the positives of the Xbone.

I play on PC mainly. Most of the launch titles on the PS4 will also be available on PC.
The Xbox One however has Forza, Killer Instinct, Crimson Dragon.

- I have to have both new consoles

- My Friends are all getting it
- Prefer the games lineup, exclusives, MS IPs
- Prefer the controller
- Believe the OS system level will be a better experience
- Kinect for the kids
- TV in and Media stuff will be used.

I wanted to buy both, then only a PS4, then none, now an X1. Because of 180s, because of free FIFA, because of Amazon pricing error that gets me CoD Ghosts for 42 € but mostly because

- best controller with the best layout
- much more interesting exclusives
- Forza Horizon 2
- Halo TV series
- Quantum Theory
- Forza 5, Ryse, Battlefield 4

I'd rather spend 100 € more on a weaker console than to end up with one and have no games I enjoy (to me the last great Sony exclusives were Resistance 3 and Uncharted 2, and I have seen TLoU).

Much better online service and server capability. Dedicated servers pretty much guaranteed for all major multiplayer games.

Huge Halo fan. Was the reason I bought the OG Xbox, reason I bought an Xbox 360. Hell, I joined NeoGAF solely for the Halo community here.

The controller. I've hated the dualshock since the PSX days. Sole reason I was gamecube/Xbox only last gen. Why I didn't really care for the ps3. I'm glad they improved it, but if have to hold it to be sure, see how it is. I'm still betting the XbOne controller will be better.

Easy to migrate my account. I've been with MS for a while. Still use my Hotmail from 1997 etc. Since PS4 will no longer be free online, why create an all new PSN etc. It'll be easier for me to just continue with my gamertag, my games etc.

Plus, Halo. I just couldn't imagine being a ps4 owner and having a new Halo release and not be able to play it. I love Bungie, I love shooters, but Halo was a breath of fresh air in an ADS/loadout/knife melee dominated shooter market. I love the arena shooter/sandbox gameplay. Map control, stealth, on map weapons, equal starts etc. If Halo 5 sucks, like Halo 4 sucks, I'd probably leave the franchise behind.

Don't get me wrong though, I'd love to buy a ps4. Sony has been great and up front from the start. The ps4 is easily a more powerful machine, and cheaper. I'll probably buy both, but right now, I'd probably get an XbOne at launch. I'm dying to play TitanFall as well.

Thier online service seems to be the most comprehensive and best planned out of the 3. MS were right when they said a segment of their gamers use the entertainment service more than gaming I'm one of them. They introduced achievements, cross chat play (playing independent games) and now they're standardising dedicated servers for games and I'm sure many more features.

Really admire what they've done with online gaming for consoles...

This is my main reason but ofcourse theres Halo, Fable and Rare, my friends will Migrate over

-I like the exclusives they have announced so far
-I'm excited to see what Kinect 2 has to offer
-The controller was great and seems to be even better now
-My friends are getting one too, so we can keep playing BF4 together :)

Honestly I've always gotten both and will be picking both up Day One. Only ever got a PS3 for MLB:The Show for the most part. I do about 90% of my gaming on Xbox and always have. My reasons for getting Xbox as my primary are:

- Always preferred the UI over anything Sony has ever had
- always preferred the Xbox controller over Sony
- Most of my friends have Xboxes
- This may sound dumb to some, but I feel like I should be loyal to the brand that I've enjoyed more and in the case of Xbox gen and the 360 gen , it's definitely been Xbox.
- I really like what I've seen from the exclusives mainly Titanfall and Ryse
- Xbox Live has always been leaps and bounds better than PS online, IMHO. I love what PS+ offers when it comes to free games but as far as friends lists, parties and the infustructure in general xbox has always been better.

I'm curious as to how people are saying "better controller" when the vast majority haven't had a hands in with either controller?
Assumptions are a killer.

-I've recently seen Titanfall
-FF XV
-Kinect
-Blu ray
-the machine looks aesthetically pleasing
-Crackdown 3

- Crimson Dragon (huge Panzer Dragoon fan)
- Quantum Break (huge Remedy fan)
- Killer Instinct
- Halo (60fps holy crap)
- Forza 5 (will be my first simulation racing game)
- Titanfall

I think the Xbox One overall has more focus on AAA titles, or at least bigger-scale games than what I saw from the competition - at least for now - which speaks to my current tastes and interests.

I'm picking up both systems anyways because I don't want to miss out on any great experiences from both worlds. I love games too much for that to happen.

It's pretty easy to assume if you liked the 360 controller you'll like the X1 controller. Now assumptions about the PS4 controller are more dubious but what does that matter?

Well it's no guarantee. This is because their major franchises don't interest me and their dev pedigree hasnt really proved themselves Remedy are cool but their last effort was eh.

But, I have more disposable income and I'm a more hardcore gamer then ever. So I'll likely buy it. Probably immediately if games like Quantum Break or D4 deliver in spades.

So my answer is, the unique games look interesting and the thing isn't out of my price range, its quite cheaper than a 360 at launch iirc.

So I know my answer is a maybe, but I think more than likely one game will deliver if MS is spending as much on new IPs as we've been told, one of them are bound to deliver.

Controller, Project Spark, Halo, to access Netflix with my voice, and to always have the option of the superior console multiplatform game (by owning PS4 also).

Because my friends are and playing with them is the main reason i game.

Also for my sins Halo, i still hope they can pull it back from the brink and make a good game.

Square, circle, triangle, cross suck compared to A,B,X,Y. The colours on PS are even worse compared to the primary colors plus green on Xbox. Then we have that annoying Move light that just won't work with my reflective TV. But the instawin for X1 controller is analogue stick positioning. You're welcome.

For Forza, Ryse (even though I'm crap at hack'n'nslash games the Roman setting has got me hooked) Titanfall and I don't care what the haters say this game will shift Xbox ones. Also I'm really interested in what the new kinect can offer both with regards to TV integration and the dash. The stuff they have in Spark looks amazing.

I'm definitely getting one for the exclusives, there are a lot of games that interest me on the system at this point...I just want to see stronger indie support.

Also if the dedicated servers-centric approach on XBL turns out true this will be another reason to get the system since it will be my preferred console for online play.

  • MS day-one exclusives aren't great but not interested in Killzone/InFamous/Sony IP in general
  • It'll be the platform most of my friends use for third-party games
  • Already engrained in eco-system (friends list, Achieves, Gamerscore)
  • Peggle 2

Had an Xbox since day one and have had an insane amount of fun with it. Had more bad experiences gaming on Ps3 than 360 so I'm staying loyal to MS.

Also Dead Rising 3, Forza and Ryse look more interesting to me over Killzone, Infamous and Knack

Only thing I'm dissapointed by is a lack of being able to play my XBLA stuff on One

I'll get one eventually for Halo, along with Crimson Dragon and Killer Instinct if they're good. Also when I get Titanfall it'll probably be the Xbox One version.

I suppose this topic is more targeted towards people getting one closer to launch but it never specified, I'm not getting one for a couple years :P.

My plan was always to get an Xbox One first and a PS4 sometime next year. And I'll be sticking to that.

For me the main reason by far is the far more appealing launch games. (DR3 looks fun and stuff like Crimson Dragon on day one is too tempting)

Belief in their other gaming avenues. As a current Kinect owner and knowing how much fun I have with it. MS belief in it gives me confidence they'll support it. And devs will know it comes in every box and will plan accordingly.

Killer Instinct has gone from a bad joke to genuinely something I can't wait to get my hands on.

TV.movies.video integration. I know this is a curious point depending on which company even dares mention this whether it's a positive or not. But for me I don't game all the time,I also like to watch TV/Video and the Kinect integration with the OS on 360 is great I expect even more interesting stuff from the One and that leads me into..

Apps. Yes Apps. I want to see more. But I want full voice control for everything.

But I guess in this age the most important thing is my friends are getting one. I have at least 7 friends who are getting one on launch. And I'm not missing out on that.

I imagine that for many people that's what it will come down to. Where are your friends gaming?

Oh and TitanFall :p

I forgot about D4. That's has to be bought. But yeah, like I said earlier I'm getting it just for the NFL deal and nothing else for now.

- Better looking launch games (Dead Rising 3, Crimson Dragon etc.)
- Sunset Overdrive gives me serious Jet Set Radio/Crackdown vibes
- Always preferred Xbox controller
- Online and UI has always been a step ahead of the Sony consoles, so I expect that to continue
- Halo 60fps dedicated servers. Fingers crossed the Forge is amazing.
- Titanfall with a controller. I could get it on PC but I'm weird and prefer using a controller for anything that isn't an RTS.
- MGS5 is coming to Xbox. MGS4 was the sole reason I bought a PS3 and it was worth it for that one game in my opinion but that's what I'm like. I'd buy a console for just one game if I had to.

Don't care about the Kinect at all but over here the PS4 is $550 and the Xbox One is $600 so I don't care about the $50 difference.

- Amazing controller; Enhanced rumble, 5.1 audio through the pad (easily my favourite feature)
- Kinect 2; Potential for family games, my son and wife will love this
- Multitasking
- App store potential

- Titanfall
- Fable
- Ryse
- Witcher
- Dragon Age
- Potential Rare + Crackdown
- Quantum Break
etc etc

- Also the exclusive TV shows are very appealing, not to mention TV integration via voice control.

It's the stick positions for me. Once you get used to it you don't want to switch. I guess this could work the other way around too.

after their disastrous start it sounds like they are fixing the indie situation and that whole policy nightmare they had at the start is basically gone.

So I'm left with keeping the same ecosystem. Sony disinterests me for some reason as we..

Titanfall is a deal breaker. The game looks amazing. Why MS don't fork out the 100 Mill to buy the rights I have no idea. They need a new IP now that Halo has gotten long in the tooth, and I say TF is a 100 million dollar bet.

If this game goes to PS4 it will be very difficult to justify the purchase for me.
