Adam Sessler"Titan Fall one of the Most Enjoyable things I've played at a Convention"

Won't be getting an xbox one before a ps4, but this game admittedly looks really good. Probably more excited for it than I am any other next-gen game at the moment. Disappointed it's an exclusive.

If you can get past the manufactured hype around this, it really does look like the kick in the ass modern multiplayer shooters need. The general aesthetics look as generic as they get, but gameplay-wise there's a blatant focus on moving modern shooters forward, and I like it.

I don't understand these comments. How exactly is general enthusiasm insincere?

I've seen this type of comment so many times maybe we should start talking about manufactured retorts against the manufactured hype. :P

Not saying Titalfall won't be a great game, but there's a reason Adam Sessler will never say a bad thing about it:
Abbie Heppe

They worked together at G4 and are really close friends. Now she works for Respawn.
He's be dissing his friend's hard work if he didn't praise it.

lol come the fuck on.

Adam Sessler is a paid Microsoft fanboy/shill who is friends with a Respawn employee which is why he has the opinion that he does about the game. troofackz.

I want to play this game to see what the fuss is about. I don't think it'll really make sense until I get my hands on it. The impressions of everyone that's played it have been overwhelmingly positive.

She is just the community manager, its not like she personally designed the game and coded it.

My hype/impressions are totally fake for this game. I also have money coming under the table from both EA and Respawn to talk about this game while totally not getting my other work done, which by the way has nothing to do with actual games anymore and more with the accessories. ;p

It looks like these arguments are getting better.

I haven't seen 'dudebro' thrown around even once yet. Looks like gaf is growing up.

I goddamn knew it!!!!

What the hell am I reading here? He likes a game so he's being paid by Microsoft. Man, some people cannot accept that other people enjoy a game that they have not had a chance to play.

We don't know much of the 360 version but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be of this scale.
Besides, there are other things besides "graphics" that can push hardware. Frame-rate, animation blending, scale-of-area, AI etc all contribute in pushing what is needed in the hardware.

This is why it's so easy to see games like KZ: Shadowfall or Infamous:SS because "visually" it's the first thing we inspect when showcasing hardware. But look behind the scenes and you'll notice the gameplay barely has any improvement or refinement compared to it's last-gen predecessors.

Until we know what the 360 version is like, it's all speculation, but I don't personally believe a true 'next-gen' experience would be possible cross-gen. Nothing about Titanfall strikes me as something which would be impossible on a PS3 or 360, graphics aside. You could say the same about almost all the games we've seen so far. My point is that Titanfall isn't really 'next-gen' in a way which a lot of other games aren't.

This looks fun, I'm not sure how this is "moving shooters forward" by doing what Halo's already done with vehicle combat and what Warhawk/Starhawk attempted to do.

Check the tutorial vid out....its pretty easy to wall run and jump.

I guess the trick will be...where you jump to. I like the idea that the map is made so I can get around it without walking too much but the danger will certainly be there if a Titan spots you. :D

Now, does this actually take skill and finesse to pull off? Or is it a case of Assassin's Creed "Hold left trigger for awesome"?

I wasn't that great with the jumping from building to building like in this GIF, but then again I was being shot at and didn't have too much time to test it out. Then again, I felt really newbie-ish trying to scale up a building to get to the roof. Kept missing the areas to climb up, but I did eventually make it. :: shrug ::

I would rather have Assassins Creed hold button.

Mirrors Edge made it overly complicated. Not that Mirrors Edge is a very complicated game, it was highly unnecessary. I want to enjoy a game, not get carpal tunnel trying to jump on fucking walls. I didn't even finish Mirrors Edge on consoles because of how annoying the system was with a controller.

Make it a 1-2 button thing. Jump + Sprint. No need to have to press 32 buttons, that isn't fun.

I vehemently disagree. A game needs tension for me, and "press A for awesome" leaves me watching a badly directed movie.

Mirror's Edge entire goal is to be an immersive experience. The whole entire premise of the game is climbing around the city, there is nothing else to the game.
If you made the controls as simple as Assassin's Creed, then the gameplay wouldn't be very interesting, resulting in a boring game.

I would argue that the Assassin's Creed series makes for a very boring game due to its dumbed down controls, but that could be a discussion for another time.

Sessler has become a microsoft fanboy, just look at his youtube channel in the past 7 months. Everything is a spin for microsoft. E3 was the biggest joke, he said everyone who wants a ps4 just wait microsoft has some good ideas. Then doing the gamescon ps4 presser he tweeted "no mention of gaikai" really? they said expect it next year. He just had to bring something negative to sony. I have no respect for someone who is probably getting paid by a company. He even went on that microsoft trip I saw him tweeting about. I see no Sony or Nintendo spins from him thus I unfollow. What a weird thing that his number one game is Titanfall which is an xbox one exclusive for consoles. He has turned into Major Nelson jr.

I understand the need for developers to determine player intent and make what the player's thinking happen on screen painlessly but Assassin's Creed is the end of the spectrum where they made it 100% mindless. It worked for the type of game it was but man was it boring. Felt like I wasn't doing anything at all and they might as well have removed the need to hold the trigger.

Right, because the rest press riding Sony's dick (and I'll admit, it's a well deserved dick ride) for the past 7 months doesn't make them fanboys only Sessler. The title of fanboy is only applicable to people trying to be positive about Microsoft.

The second half of your comment was great, but you fucked it up with the snark in the first half.

You press jump twice to use your jetpack. When you jump towards a wall you automatically run across or vertically up it. Running on the wall also resets your jetpack so you can do chains like the one in the gif. Seems pretty intuitive and simple. Cant see why you would need much skill to do it, but gamers have gotten soft so maybe in that context.

Completely a matter of preference. If you raise the barrier of skill, it's easier to appreciate higher level play. If you lower it, you have to shift exactly what it is the gameplay is focusing on. You're cutting straws if you're under the impression there's a better design decision to be had.

Man, console wars are fucking stupid.

TitanFall does look like it will be a good game but Adam's enjoyment with it seem to be more about the fact that the gameplay is new and the people he was playing with had comparable skill level to himself. For example one of the praises he gave was that no one knew the map well enough to camp in that one perfect spot. That is likely to change after the game is launched.
