Game is still absolutely stunning! I will happily get this again for the improvements!
Even regarding that it's still more exaggerated, especially in the sky.
Ultimately it's a fairly moot point to me, as WW clearly isn't striving for realism. So having a whimsical cartoony look have a defense as realistic tropical lighting is weird. I'm sure playing the game it'll eventually grow on me, but I would have liked some sort of Halo CE-esque switching ability.
Exactly, it cant be compared 100% to real life.
Sounds good! I'll keep your offer in mind as I plot a cross-country tour visiting my fellow GAF members. (Half-serious, but man that would be fun):lol Come on by, bring over your Wii U so I can see what the fuss is all about.
Well, I wish you would have taken a picture so I could see what your eyes saw. I've never once in my entire life, which admittedly is only a paltry 28 years old, seen anything that even remotely resembles the bloom in this video. It looks friggin' weird at times.
That said, let's just assume for a second you are right. Let's assume in the Dominican Republic there is occasion when the beach turns into an irradiated wasteland of light.
My query would be: So? It's Zelda: Wind Waker. It has one of the most distinctively stylistic art directions in all of gaming. Was the original idea to emulate REAL LIFE, or to provide an amazing palette of colors and cel-shaded expression which is at its best when it is on a clear canvas?
wait are you saying it looks like real life or not? lol
this seems like you want to be on both sides of the argument haha
I literally gasped at that part. The jump in scale is astounding -- you can see two additional archways in their entirety. It's a sweeping view, and you feel like you're there.
I'm in the Caribbean right now, and as much as I like how the game looks, the bloom or whatever you want to call it is exaggerated. It does however succeed in giving the game the proper atmosphere and feel.
That part was the "woah" moment for me in the comparison.
Bloom >>>> That shit DOF filter the original has.
END OF STORY.

So the bloom is only outside? I wish they would have kept it bloom free like the original.

Oh man, that DOF filter was weird. Always aggravated me on Windfall.Bloom >>>> That shit DOF filter the original has.

This is not an argument but I'm glad you have stated your position for the record. I have inscribed it on the universal book of records for safe keeping.

...it -is- gone in the HD version, right?

Like we are in this forum to not express opinions.
Speaking of which, looking forward to trying to take selfies as Ganondorf pirouettes through the air behind me.

What the -- did you shop this?

Native 1080p, apparently. Still 30 fps, though -- probably because the animations were synced accordingly. No biggie, though -- will look hella crisp, all uncompressed on an HDTV.16:9 really helps this game a lot. Is this game native 1080p or 720p?
Looks very crisp eitherway.
Ah, OK.Nibel did.

I don't know why you thought my comment was saying otherwise, but i wasn't mocking his opinion, merely implying through a lame joke that it does not further the discussion we're having, since he quoted me.
Just lol.It still looks horrible.
Too much bloom and the colors look off.

The discussion about whether or not Wind Waker is trying to look like a realistic depiction of a sunny day, or a stylized one? Neither looks realistic. One looks sunnier and doesn't have a hideous DOF filter all over everything more than ten feet away. I go with that one.
Realism be damned. Sunny and inviting be praised.
