took me 20 to get the chest.
Just wiped 4 times on normal Ifrit... unreal. If the que wasn't 15-20min for a tank at this time I would have just que'd again. This guy pulls the second we get in, Has his tank pet out. Didn't attack the nail.. I understand if its your first time and MMO but come on. I even explained the fight quickly while the first wipe was happening. We somehow managed to kill the nail without him in the end.
Have they ever talked about transmog for this game?

What settings do I change so that when I lock on to an enemy, the camera doesn't snap right up to them? Some times on big enemies I'm locked on to, I can't move the camera up or down (or zoom out).
I've evolved! It was a problem at first but I'm so adjusted to fixing it even if it does mess up that it I don't feel the problem anymore - except carbuncles.

Just did Sastasha again with a Healer than wouldn't heal. lol.

What do I do now? Should finishing the storyline be my first goal? Im caught up with my Grand company wanting me to finish the 2nd hunting log set before they'll promote me again and not quite sure what I should be working towards.
Ifrit HM and crap are after the story stuff right? I've got 150k, I see people spamming shit about relic weapons, is that a post story item?

Not that I know of, never such a thing in FFXI, though FFXI did have a very active community at one point that made custom gear .dat files so you could at least change the appearance for yourself.

Man, I have been searching all week for a physical copy of this game for PC all week. I have never had such a hard time finding a game. They must have greatly underestimated the demand for the game. I live in a fairly big city and the nearest copy to me is over 100 miles away.
Played XI for a while when it first came out, then moved on to other things, but I always liked the story elements of the final fantasy mmo much more than the other games. Hopefully I'll see some of you soon once some shipments come in

I can't update the game. I finally put in my registration code before work today hoping I could download the patch and start playing tonight. When I came home the patch had not downloaded because there was some sort of error. I've been trying to download the patch for a couple of hours and it keeps erroring out. What should I do? I thought I was smart by waiting for everything to work itself out and still this game won't let me play it.

finishing the main quest gets you the 8 man story dungeon and another level 50 dungeon
What's the error code?
I don't know I'll tell you next time it messes up. Why does thing have to start the download from scratch every time?

I'm tempted to pick up the last PS3 CE copy just to add to my collection, but it's about 40 miles away. It's not as bad as 100 miles, but I wouldn't drive that far either way for a game, especially if you can buy it online.

The percentage readout always begins at 0 though.

Ever since phase 4 for whatever reason the launcher dropped the option to resume downloads, no idea why. Had you downloaded any major sized files before this one or did you install from the disc?
My personal error was;

Had to create a virtual machine of an OS to get around that error myself. Other people had luck with "Run as Administrator"/removing read-only on the files/run in compatibility. It's hard to say where the problem lies.

So around what level do I start getting the good looking armor as a CNJ/WHM? I'm at 25 now.
Define good looking.
Traditional WHM set with the robes is lv45 for some pieces, and you'll be wearing a pair of underwear until you get the chest piece at lv50.

Oh man that sounds really depressing. I downloaded the game and installed it. That had no problems. Oh well I guess I'll just pray and hope they fix this game before I lose interest.
The Acolyte set looks pretty cool, I think. It's just level 15 green gear though, so I don't know if you'd want to backtrack through the first dungeon(s) for it by now.
I just hit 30 and I'm still wearing the robe/coat.
I felt the caster gear was always somewhat pretty.
Well if you've download the game using their launcher before it shouldn't be hard to search the forum for part of the error code and find potential fixes, or it could just be your connection screwing up. If all else fails you can try using a torrent;

There's other links for similar torrents so that may or may not be the best one. Setting the download location as your current install folder should save you a bit of downloading.
Had similar problems. More or less yes from what I'm aware. Go to the processing plant in Mor Dhona and party up.

Oh I wear whatever I think looks pretty enough, despite the stats. I do keep the best gear around for when I need it.
Annnnd I'm almost 26 and I haven't touched the dungeons yet...oopps.

Wait there's no quest hubs after Mor Dhona?
Sigh. The quest system is so broken. At 45 I'm getting about 16k XP a quest. Whilst it takes almost 400k XP to actually level.
No wonder people are farming FATEs...
Quests should be giving double what they are now once you hit the 40s. Shit is ridiculous.

They should've at least let the first job to 50 get there by mostly side-questing + story quests. We're all going to have to grind out FATEs and leves anyway with secondary jobs. Bah. :/
Or make dungeons give better exp.

That's the one. I always call it Mor Dhona because they carry the same environment, and I too wish there was another because that place is so visually unappealing like the old MMO formula, "The higher the level that the area is meant for, the more depressing it has to look". First world problems.
Quick questions:
- If I level my Chocobo enough on my first class (just gotten it) can I use it to help in high-level FATEs when I'm levelling a second class?
- Could I switch to my primary during a quest and then switch back to my second one when getting the reward?
- I want all Trophies, what classes/jobs do I need to have?
- What would be a fun class to level after my Marauder?

You guys must be missing out on a lot of breadcrumb quest. Do you have recommendations turned on? You should flick it on so that every time you zone it tells you what that zone has for you.
45+ there's quest hubs in North Thanalan, Mor'dhona, Camp Overlook (outside the Kobold stronghold), and Camp Skull Valley (right outside the Sahagin fortress). Once you hit 47, go check out the Waking Sands, I remember getting a few quest in there that leads to a couple of these areas.

Spent most of my time online tonight in Toto-Rak to take care of some desperately needed upgrades and ended up looking like this:
I still have a lot of slots needing upgrades, but I think I shall move on so I can get the monk class unlocked sometime today or tomorrow.
What drops are in Toto-Rak? That looks like it's for a circus act, lol. I'm about to do some runs later for the first time.

I finished Grand Company hunting log rank 2 and can't get promoted because the commander has some trial for me but he doesnt have a quest or anything. any ideas?

Finished Sastasha earlier. It was alright but yeah, partying through the Duty Finder isn't super fun. My party members didn't talk at all and it took me about 75 minutes to finally get a party

You can't get the quest until 44, there should be a red ! from an npc somewhere near the counter. It unlocks a dungeon that you need to clear, then you can continue getting promotions.
Okay, quick update.
So tonight was my first full night playing as a Warrior, rather than a Marauder. Oddly, the transition is proving a bit difficult, at least when I'm playing with a group anyway. To be fair, part of that is the simple fact that I was getting the hang of assigning "Signs," to mobs, and that took a bit of getting used to. I kept trying to lay out a detailed order of how we were going to take down enemies, and it took me awhile to realize that with the group I was in at least, it wasn't going to work. I'd lay out signs based on the starting position of the monsters, and of course that'd change the moment the battle started, and it completely threw the party off a few times. So instead I simply used signs to designate the first enemy I'd go after.
As for the Warrior Job itself, well, it's taking me awhile to figure out how all the new buffs should be used. which of course is leaving me occasionally distracted from the more basic functions of tanking, such as keeping proper aggro on enemies. It hasn't resulted in any real major mistakes, but I was definitely doing a better job of tanking before, when I have relatively few abilities and I could just focus on the basics.
I'm actually kinda inclined to just ignore a lot of those extra Warrior abilities for awhile, at least until I get a more instinctual grasp of how to use them, and when. Also, tomorrow, I think I'm going to try setting up Macro's for the more basic MRD Tanking Combo's, to free up some of my attention for handling other things.
Anyhow, beat Haukke Manor tonight, beat the heck out of Cancer in a GAF party, and beat the level 35 Warrior Class quest. Also, tomorrow I may try setting up some Macro's. Right now I'm on the early parts of the Quest to fight Titan. I've gotta say, I'm really looking forward to that fight.

Next week, they stopped selling digital copies, because the servers reached capacity. They are increasing capacity in stages, and should be done early next week, at which point they'll probably allow digital sales to go through again.
