New Zelda Wind Waker HD videos

The Gohma Boss battle looks amazing, but there IS slowdown in that video.

Near the beginning.

EDIT: Is it me, or is stuff missing from the HUD? The button layout is nowhere to be seen.

Yes! You can turn off the HUD, just found out myself from a reviewer. So glad this is in.

New footage with no HUD. Warning for the bloom sensitive, this is footage on the top of dragon roostand I don't know if it's just me but I've noticed the bloom is far more pronounced here than in most of the other areas we've seen. It is the top of a tall island after all.

Weren't you able to get rid off the button layout in SS?

Not completely. In SS, you'd still get the item currently equipped. But here, nothing. You can turn off everything so that only rupees, health and magic is left.

I love that.

So hypnotic. That looks next-gen to me.

Is it me or are the character models still similar to their Gamecube version - i.e. they still seem sharp and not rounded. I notice this everytime with Link's hat as well. Not much of a problem to be honest, I just notice that a lot.

Are they not the exact same models as the GC version? I think they are.

wwHD looks fantastic, but I was looking at gamexplan's videos and a lot of ..you can notice tiny slowdowns same with that gif on the top of the page ._.

Turning off HUD is awesome. I wish they just took away the hearts, keys and rupees too. We have a gamepad for a reason, right?

Rupees and keys? Yes, but I think hearts should still remain on the screen.

I mean we do have the famous audio cue for low health (and visual, Link looks out of breath when you stand still), so at that point I'd take a quick look at the gamepad to see how much health exactly I have left.

the bloom still looks like shit yall are crazy. I hope someone takes the assets from this game and makes a Wind Waker: Perfect Edition texture hack for Dolphin ^_^

Man that gif... If they work on this artstyle some more and create a new Zelda in this vein, I'm going out to buy a Wii U tomorrow.

I'd much rather ask them to get rid of the noise than the hearts though :P

Non-bloom graphics criticism: disappointed the shadow detail rendering distance seems quite low. You can see it in the Windfall Island video, the shadows popping in along the stairs relative to Link's proximity. It's a blemish on otherwise nice shadow rendering that reminds me a bit of last gen limitation, and the kind of shit I desperately tried to fix via cfg/ini tweaks on PC games.

Non-bloom graphics compliment: looks the game is using ambient occlusions, and it's a really nice touch, denser scenes are wonderful sense of depth and lighting complexity. Doesn't look super high quality, but it's there and welcome. Will be interesting to see if it's implemented on grass, as it should make the layers of thick grass look really great.

I noticed the shadow pop in as well. Not sure why it's happening, because it certainly shouldn't be a hardware limitation here. It even happens sometimes on things close to Link. Wonder if it's an engine issue.

There should be more bloom there. It's on top of a volcano above and surrounded by clouds.

Rendering distance doesn't appear to be the issue, though. We've seen other shadows at greater distances and they were fine.

The casting itself might be at fault, here.

The graphics are really good, none of the Dolphin shots come even close.
However, the sailing video is really off putting and bringing down the slight enthusiasm I might have had for this. Video is basically a minute of literally nothing happening - yep, that's fucking Wind Waker for you :/ And I have forgotten how pointlessly big/empty the map really is.

I loved that part. It's relaxing and gives a sense of adventure.

I am still embarrassed that I died on this boss when I first played Wind Waker.

That's your opinion.

I personally enjoyed Phantom Hourglass and it's a worthy game to carry the Windwaker story.

I still can't make my mind up about PH and, to a lesser extent, ST. They're like some crazy zelda optical illusion. Look at them from a certain angle and they are super fun and charming. Slightly change your viewpoint and they are steaming piles of dogshit.

I think I might have a more charitable viewpoint if they weren't direct sequels to one of my favorite games.

I enjoyed both PH and ST, tbh I actually kinda wish they'd make an updated version for the 3DS. Specially in the graphical department.
