VITA NEW MODEL Announced with built in 1GB memory!!

Slimmer, lighter, cheaper Vita with an LCD screen?

Smart move. Hopefully this brings over a few more PSP owners and other fence-sitters.

i hope this model doesnt come to the US. If it does i hope it co-exist with the current oled model at a cheaper price. i would hate for anything to happen to my current oled model in 2 years and have to replace it with a lcd model.

I love how we got ppl in this thread acting like OLED on vita is so godlike, but we also got a big thread here on neogaf complaining about Vita OLED burn-in with some of those same people from this thread in that thread.

If Sony pulls off the switch to LCD/LED right and it still looks good without the OLED burn in then I'm all for it. On top of that it's thinner, lighter, comes in some pretty sexy colors , and dat micro usb. Also the 1gb internal is nice for people to play games from retail with no probs and you can still download small mb games like Hotline Miami.

This is a good step for sony imo, now the next thing they need to do is advertise the shit out of this and get a crapload of more games first party and third party

I wonder if the shoulder buttons will be a little nicer.

I'll definitely buy a 64 gig memory card, but I guess I should hold onto my current Vita. I don't really have a problem with LCD screens, plus you wouldn't have to worry about burn-in, but so far my Vita has been fine so idk. Battery life doesn't seem improved enough to warrant a new purchase either.

Well it'll probably help Sony in terms of cost of materials. But I don't like the switch to LCD. It was a differentiating factor. You could spot the difference even when comparing it to high end phones.

It's the same price isn't it??? I'm confused.
There will be a fabrication line transition to pay for and new colors always = new sales to at least some degree. So the color collectors will likely subsidize the transition in manufacturing, then Sony will get more competitive with the price.

Get demand OLEDs while they're around, no way this is not a full global replacement.

WHO IN THE HELL decided the pink Vita should be pink + black? In what possible galaxy does that combination make any sense? White + pink is like a thousand times more logical.

Sony's new direction away from OLED in their Vita revision coupled with the announcement of the new PS Vita TV have pretty much cemented my decision. Playing Vita games on a TV for a price point of ~$99 will be nice, at least.

No OLED is serious buzzkill... But I will wait to see reviews of the screen. Modern LCDs are pretty decent...

Yesssss... Now we can escape the tyranny of the mura effect, motion blur, a mayfly lifespan and the wonders of burn-in.

Still feel a bit burned by my purchase of the OG Vita, but it would be churlish not to double dip now that they're giving me what I wanted all along.

BAH! I can't believe they still have the speakers in the same position in this new Vita.... my thumb usually blocks one of the speakers enough for me to notice a volume difference in stereo sound balance.

No OLED stucks big time. Maybe I should buy a new Vita of Craigslist for cheap before these replace the current model.

You do know neogaf is not a sentient individual being but people with opinions right? There is no contradiction with different people wanting different things.

If this an LCD of Triluminos quality, then all is OK.

But if Sony cheaps out, then it would be worth hunting down an OLED Vita while they still exist.

No OLED or a bigger internal storage kinda'of dissapeals for me.

But damn that sexy yellow PS VITAgrrgeee grr grr.
