Will it be coming to Sprint? If so my next phone will probably be the Z1 unless iPhone 5S really impresses.

I'm really excited about this phone. My HTC One served me well, I want better picture than just for instgram straight flexin. Hope fully the unlock will be Att lte compatible....I don't want to wait for the not so sure Att version..

Seems like the camera on this phone actually delivered.
A lot of people are saying it's the best phone camera they have used (excluding 808Pureview), and super steady shot video seems to work extremely well.
Also, apparently the camera software isn't even in its final form.

Yep I'm done with the One too. I initially wanted the Z1 but with no ETA for the states, I'm gonna be heading back to iOS with the 5S, lol.

Why don't you just buy a Xperia Z and save some money?
First of all both camera look like crap in the night scene. Why even bother to shoot it. With a SLR you still need ISO3200 and a 2.8 or faster lens to handle that night scene.
The cannon picture, the Z1 photo is alot sharper than the 1020 in the per pixel level. I wish they post more samples.

I looked through that link all the images are mostly shooting against light which is exactly what you don't want to do with a small camera. There are no signs or any any fine detail in any photos I can crop up to do useful comparison.
All the blogger had to do was point the phones at a crowded place in good light and he failed this simple task. SMH

Wow... Some of the Nokia fans are having a mental breakdown on GSMarena.
If they cared so much about their camera and image quality why not just buy a DSLR and save themselves from going grey early?

But the phone does indeed look great. Looked at UK contracts, seems like they're asking too much atm, so had to remove the Z1 from my options.

A lot probably don't, if I had to guess it's because WP or nokia had best in class in something for a while which gave them a point of pride amidst the constant sneering at WP. I could be wrong of course.

Sell them, no point keeping something you don't want.
The ones under day lights are fine. But the ones in door or just under shadow had me rolling me eyes.
The more I look at these the more I think I should spend $350 on a Xiaomi and spend the rest of my budget on a Ricoh GR.

I've still never really got the issue with viewing angle that wide. As long as I can hold it roughly in the direction of my face and it looks great that's fine by me.

Ughh I remember trying out the ZL in-store a while back and being surprised at how terrible the screen was. Looks like not much as changed in that regard.

It doesn't matter if they're pre production. If they're sending out ones with shit screens to the reviewers again then that is what the narrative will be.
Considering how it was the number one concern with the Z you'd think they'd have got their shit together. A lot of people do care about the screen. I turned down the Z because of it, and I know someone else who did as well.

Lol, and people said The Vita 2000 is gonna be fine as long as Sony are gonna put a "good" LCD screen on it. Yeah right! They aren't even gonna put a good screen on their 600+ flagship phone.
i am one of those guys who didn't bother about veiwng angles. Sony phones have excellent screens head on with fantastic color reproduction. that is until i started gaming. Now whenever i play temple run the shift tin color makes me so disappointed about it .
Well now that sony has finally corrected camera next yer may be they will give attention to screen
PSP had excellent screen for that time. and its a separate department. Sony mobile also said that oled is bad for cell phones so we just have to wait and see

because viewing angles affect how the screen looks in different orientations.
As I understand it, it should have exactly the same screen as the Z Ultra, just a 5 inch variant. Just wait till the phone comes out.

Wtf....ultimate panel lottery, thats not how you build a premium smartphone branding...smh. They are always so close yet so far with their Xperia push.
Sony should have read the reviews and comments about XZ poor screens...points deducted, hype deflated...baffling why they still dropped the ball on Z1 screen. I mean the Z Ultra screen received warm praises...not industry leading but no scores were deducted there
Good IPS screens are readily available, not some super secret exclusive tech. LG, Apple, HTC, Nokia, Microsoft, Asus, Acer uses it. Granted enemy LG-Philips are the biggest producers of IPS screens, Sony shouldnt be saving pennies for their flagship phone.
I also read from zombie, that Sony opticontrast layer is to blame for poor off angles, as the Z1 is rumored to be using SPVA screen, the pictures should not washed out like above.

His point was why it matters on such a small device that's meant for personal viewing. A TV is a completely different beast.
For me personally I use my phone as a GPS in my car. Off angle a Z is hopeless which is why I didn't buy.
Yeah, iirc this is the strategy Sony is employing to use as eventual leverage with American and Canadian telecos.

rumors posted at esato forums. SPVA has better contrast/blacks than ips and also do not suffer from ips glow, however spva suffers from contrast shift and tints easily off angle.
XZ actually uses a lousy ips panel from JDI. I think the panel specs has about only 160 degree viewing angles...almost TN level. smh.

I rather have a bigger storage than having an SD card slot. SD reading is always slower and laggier...I want thing snappy.
