Speaking of casters, could you caster-bros fill me in on which of your spells create ground effects so I know not to panic when I start standing in your fire as a tank?

I think I've seen ground fire from BLMs? I never seem to see them use Freeze, is that visible?

(I also don't think I've ever seen them cast Apocatastasis on me or party members, which'd be nice on certain pulls/bosses.)

Don't SMNs have Shadow Flare? Is that a really subtle effect? I can't recall seeing that either.

I think the fire one is bard aoe. Really annoying when it covers the enemy directional arrow

SMN's Shadow Flare is a blue flame on the ground. BLM's fire circle is quite disturbing for melee.

Coil is mainly difficult due to the demanding ilevel reqs currently.
I'd imagine when Crystal Tower hits, we'll all burn through Coil together with crystal gear much easier only to slam our heads into whatever the next impossible raid is.

Yeah, people who are already doing Coil are actually skipping a tier of content, so Coil should be very hard to gear for at this point.

Pretty crazy that they are going to allow people to transfer to high pop worlds. Just a couple weeks ago we were hearing that it wouldn't be allowed. Basically only going from high pop to a lower one.

I just wonder how much its going to cost. I also assume transferring a legacy character to a non-legacy world is out of the question.

Dragoons are awesome to watch. Warriors are awesome to listen to. Bards need to DIAF, who decided they needed to grunt every time they shoot an arrow?

Lol, noticed this too. But my Warrior doesn't make any noise? What skills specifically make vocal noises, I would love to hear em.

What is a company manual? I see some talking about them for crafting/gathering classes?

You purchase them with seals. There's one for crafting and one for gathering. The tier II ones give 50% bonus experience up to a max of 40,000, not sure on tier I. Also they only last for 3 hours. So if you plan on spending a couple hours leveling a crafting or gathering class and have some spare seals then you should grab one.

You know I've been playing one for weeks and I can't think of any either

Storm's Eye makes up for it though, that skill looks fucking wicked

Mine shouts when using her weapon skills, but it's just the furious sounds the axe makes that really make me love it.

Sorry to interrupt the convo about awesome looking skills but does anyone know if you can meet the reqs for trophies across multiple characters? For example, can I craft 500 times on one character and 500 on another and get one of the 1000 craft trophies?

Chimera down!

I have to say, doing this kind of content with ppl from my own server was refreshing. It kinda highlights the "fault" of duty finder. It's an amazing tool, but grouping together with ppl of your own server who don't leave after 2 failures but stick together until the end is amazing. Reminds me of CoP.

Just shy of 12k posts.
Just about time for that OT3.

Glad I get to go home and play today, came home yesterday just in time for Maint to start :/

so did they really stop AF exploits? didn't think they would be so fast with it

first time using this gif. saved it for a special occasion. hopefully that removed the douche finder from the zone and people in there are more relaxed.

Problem is power players and 1337ists exploited it to hell and back for weeks and got most or all of their gear. Nerfing at this point only really punishes the normiez and poorz who now have to spend 3x the time for the same end result. They should have owned up to their design oversight and punished the exploiters by dramatically buffing full clears to the point that it greatly outpaces the speed runs of old--giving the impression the exploiters all wasted their time. When you allow an exploit to continue for 3 weeks, the damage is already done.

Freeze is ice on the ground, but it's basically useless right now: almost no damage, uses the silly "target a point on the ground" mechanic that's a pain in the ass on gamepad, and inflicts Bind which is a worse CC than Sleep anyway.

Apo is just a pain in the butt to manage due to short wearoff, long cooldown, and single-target status, though we probasbly should be learning to use it for things like primals' 2hrs.

So do the lowered repair costs seem like they'll help fix the economic issues since Gil isn't draining out of the economy so rapidly now?

disappointing that mages dont' have magic circles. I know its not really a FF thing and more of a tales thing... but i swear one of the ff snes games had a magic circle underneath casters while they channel.

Yuna's summons in FFX all had nice summoning circles, and there were brief ones for the XI summons.

People shouldn't blame the community for rushing to endgame. They built the game to be played like that. I wish they hadn't, but here we are.

I'll probably make that review thread today.

A new thread every week? Can we keep it up?

Seems a bit early for me but whatevs

Heads up:

Locations have now received extra shipments of FFXIV for PC. My local Walmart, Best Buy, and Gamestop all have copies that they did not have yesterday.

Dang still none at any here in Phoenix. Guess I'll stop by and check in person. Really need it on PC as well.
