So, uh.

This Sunken Temple place.

Is it pretty tough? I think we're planning on hitting that and one more Brayflox run tonight.

And then, Titan tomorrow. I got my Infantry shirt!

Should I feel bad about the possibility of being level 36 before doing Titan? I REALLY want that Infantry set. >_>
Was running it for the first time tonight (as was the rest of my group). It's a mechanical dungeon. I had a really fun time playing with a duty finder group. We got wiped 2 or 3 times on each of the bosses due to us having to really get the gimmicks for each fight (and me as the healer being stupid one time). Everyone kept their spirit up and we entered the final boss for a final attempt with 6 minutes remaining. Everything clicked and with half a minute left we finished the instance. Pretty epic finish to the most interesting dungeon so far.

With all the duty finder horror stories going around I have been very lucky so far and have been mostly playing with really fun groups.

Man, I really want to continue playing this game but I'm getting to the point of boredom. I LOVED the main story quest line, I had a 50 PLD from 1.0, got a Dragoon up to 50 and pretty much every other class to around 40. But I'm at that point now where I just feel like everything is a chore, grinding tomes, repeating dungeons etc.

I was doing a duty earlier as a Dragoon, Amdapor Keep or something like that. We get to the first boss and we wipe, I was ready to go again when the tank says our DPS is too low. He examines my gear, which is mostly high level Grand Company stuff and AF armour, par from the weapon which is the level 46ish GC weapon. He explains nicely to me that my gear just does not seem to be sufficient for the dungeon and tells me to probably go and do Ifrit until I get my Dragoon weapon from him. This just made me think "I'm done", I really don't feel like repeating Ifrit over and over until I get my weapon, I thought I was done with this stuff when I quit WoW, seeing MMO's continue this gear grind is just awful.

I feel like I can't get into any other MMO now unless its combat is at least on par with something of the likes of TERA. All the zones being divided by loading screens bums me out, it just feels dated. Graphically, the game is gorgeous and the music is phenomenal. But all the core mechanics just feel old in my opinion.

I think I'm just turning into a grumpy old man and miss sandbox MMO's like SWG.
Anyway, I'm gonna continue it tomorrow and do Ifrit HM again, maybe I'll get lucky. But right now, I don't see myself paying for a subscription.

Reposting, logging back in now, feel free to hit me up.

For any gaffers on Leviathan, I have set up a linkshell for us to chat in-game and possibly organize groups.

Linkshell details for Leviathan Gaffers
Name: Gather Against Fate
Leader: Vesaa Sasaki (STAB-Gatekeeper on Gaf)

Everyone welcome, either contact me ingame or send me a PM on here with your character name. Will give everyone who joins invite privileges, so we can get new people in when I'm not around.

I just had a great experience fighting Ifrit.

DF party, but three of us were there for the first time. We all watched the cutscenes and waited for everyone to finish. Everyone agreed on a strategy before the fight.

We got wiped once by his OHK but the healer (the only guy who had fought it before) explained what to do, no one got upset, no insults were handed. After that Ifrit fell quickly.

In the end we all congratulated each other for a job well done.

Faith in the online community of this game slightly restored!

The Sunken Temple is the true time to use the oprahwinfrybees.gif

Yeah, I feel the same.

So, I got to chat with Yoshida for an hour at PAX two weeks ago. Took a while to get these cut, but here's the full interview in two parts. I think it's a good watch for people who don't know what Yoshida is like and his bluntness to discuss the shortcomings of v1.0 and what they're trying to do with ARR and upcoming patches.

God dammit, Titan Hard Mode is tearing my FC a new asshole. We've got the gear, it's just after we get the heart down it just goes into absolute overdrive and we lose a healer, after this it just goes to shit.

Any tips? We've literally been stuck on this for a week. Moral is at an all time low and people are beginning to just give up..

Have ranged in a straight line so when the plumes come out you just have to strafe left and right?

Seems like SE got a bit lazy toward the end of the main story. I just completed the level 46 story mission and then it immediately jumps to level 49 so now I'm just kind of stranded with nothing to do but FATE grind so I can pick up the quest.

I really don't find FATE grinding all that enjoyable either. Gonna be a long couple of days.

If you're just playing an hour a day, it will be.

We generally do this with the "waves' (What we call Weight of the Land), people were very disorganized on this but we finally were able to prefect it.

Our main problem is after the astral flow, he does Mountain Buster, Tumult, then the Waves, that just ruins people. Everyone gathers behind Titan so the healers can AoE heal us through the Tumults, but people are slow on the move out of the waves and get killed. If its not that its bombs. It's just so goddamn hectic and it causes people to freak out and drop the ball.

It's going to feel so good when we finally beat this...

Finally hit 50 on Fisher just a bit ago, "feels good man"

Hopefully it'll become useful later on, but until then its time to max culinarian out.. or alchemist i can't decide

What...I made a character on Ultros, got to the first quest and then logged out. When I came back later my character wasn't showing in the character select screen. And now, if I try to make another character, I can't select Ultros :(

Qarn is pretty tough. The GAF group I went just kept getting wiped on that first boss fight. After the 2nd or so time we all knew pretty much what to do but those damn RANDOM INSTA-KILL moves were just ridiculous. I was the tank and of course my first instinct is to pick up all the adds. Bad move in that section. A couple attempts later we attempt the opposite and just kite those fuckers. That worked better but I still ended up taking a stinger since most of my moves build enmity. The whole thing is just so random. I enjoyed it regardless. It was just a pretty big jump from the previous dungeon.

Unfortunately those wipes cost us a lot of time. We flew through the rest of the dungeon until the final boss were we ran out of time. I look forward to another run though. Lots of treasure too!

Thanks for the feedback, GAF.

I'm looking forward to it now. A mechanic heavy dungeon will be good so I can keep my team on their toes.

I'll report back after we run it with details.

Bees? Just gotta have the DPS to get them down. I think final sting can be interrupted too.

My gaf party just finished up Qarn...BLM here and on the first boss once I realized I had time to set a few spells off on those bees before the doom hit me we were fine. Doesn't help that the doom timer is a little tiny number ticking off on the top of the screen that I can barely see from the couch.

Had a few issues with dodging later on...I swear that dodging aoe spells on the PS3 is broken...I literally have to move the second I see the red outline appear. Frustrating as a BLM because I can never get a spell off. And on the last boss there were lasers everywhere. Rest of the party carried me along though and we got through it. I'm glad there's people on Gaf to help out an MMO newb like myself.

That terrible feeling where you get disconnected from the net in the middle of a battle leve quest with other party members. Bet they think I quit. :(

maybe. you're just not good? or maybe your team isn't, i don't know. the GC weapon is lv.44; and dps is a big part of finishing AK.

Qarn is a lot of fun. Ran it blind with my FC when the game just came out. A lot of wtf and oh shit moments. Finished it, and had a great time learning the place.

Any idea when the character creation restrictions will be removed? One of my friends just bought the game and I'm pretty bummed he can't join me and my other friends.

Something I've noticed: mods keep turning "FINAL FANTASY" into "Final Fantasy" when they change the thread title. It is actually the former.

As well they should; in English, non-acronym proper names have only the first letter capitalized. Just because our corporate overlords think that their game title should be in all capitals doesn't mean that the English language has to bend to their will.

Just did some calculations. With my 12% HQ and 80% success rate, it will take me approximately...

305 mining nodes to get a single level at level 43.

Dear lord. Save me.

Rested, manuals, levequests, daily turn-ins.

They all help.

The real title should be A Realm Reborn™: FINAL FANTASY® XIV ONLINE, and the first post should be edited to note that the game is available for Microsoft® Windows® and SONY® PlayStation® 3 (PS3™ for short).

31 successful runs of ifrit and never seen the bow drop once. So many failed groups or people leaving at start because of the group not being perfect. This is going to take forever.

Edit: Sorry for the bad spelling, just frustrated lol

Yup. I feel your pain. I'm not sure how many kills I've had (it's a lot), but I've never seen the claws drop.

To make it worse, a couple non-monks, in my FC, have the claws.

That sucks. Think I went 1/25 on my h2h weapon; seems like these weapons can be stubborn to drop. Saw like 10 smn books though, lol.

I received my First-Press copy of the Realm Reborn OST today [thank you, CDJapan!] and immediately redeemed my code for the Wind-Up Dalamud. It's a pretty unique pet, although it doesn't do a whole lot other than float there. It would have been nice to have a miniature Bahamut emerge occasionally and just fly around causing havoc/breathing fire, etc. But I digress!

The End of an Era trailer, in full 1080P and 5.1 surround sound though...words cannot describe.

I did Hydra with some Sargatanas FC members, I wish I took a screenshot but the fight was quite busy, the best is we did it in 2 tries, we beat Ifrit too and started Garuda to get the hang of it.

Now I need to keep getting tomes and better gear.
