They're probably just different Mega Stones. So the Charmander you're given in X will be holding Charinite X and the one you're given in Y will be holding Charinite Y or whatever.

Seems like Sky Battles has more factors than just "part Flying" and "can Levitate".

Also it seems only Zard has two versions.

I'm not sure I like mega evolutions as an idea. I guess the limit to one per party is alright, it plays up the 'partnership' you have with your favourite Pokemon but it seems so crude.

Hopefully the game handles it well.
