You Gen I guys are too much lol.

The nostalgia is great, but it's been bested in story, Pokemon distribution, post game content, balance, etc, many times already.

The music is amazing, though. Still great after all these years.

Have all the Mega evos been discovered?

Nope, and most likely won't until we actually find a way to see the game's code or Game Freak say they've given us them all.

Theoretical situation
- Mid November
- "Hey guys, lol Typhlosionite Wi-Fi Event"
- Mega Typhlosion

I consider myself a Gen II/III guy first and foremost! And hey, the story has been basically a variation of "Evil Team try to control/capture legendary, shit goes down" since Gen III.

Regional DLC? That would be intriguing. Might be odd in game balancing

"Do you want to go to Hoenn?"
"Yes."

All your Pokemon are given to the professor to hold while you go through Hoenn, then you get access to them after beating the E4. That's how I'd do it anyway.

Most if those things are things that people generally don't care about on this topic

Talonflame nooo. It was the only Flying type that I really liked from Gen VI (besides Yveltal obviously) since there's a lack of most types and I want a team with all new Pokemon. I had Archeops in BW so I didn't need Unfezant. There's Hawlucha but it's meh and I heard that it can't even take part in Sky Battles so the chances of learning Fly are low if that's true.

Well it's decent so I'll see but that means Fletchling and Fletchinder are going to be terrible offensively when compared to some of the other regional birds.

Interesting.

It should take 5-10 turns. Each time it's your turn it switches to a cutscene of your Pokemon dressed up in costumes, trick-or-treating.

He'll no to pulling an Ash :/

I'd rather a Kanto approach (done much better), where you go through the gym leaders as challenges, with a simple story telling how Hoenn has changed in the years. Then you proceed to the E4 and an adult Brendan/May is the champion and strongest trainer in the game.

Looking at videos and pictures of Pokemon Amie made me think of a cool idea of how GF could really mix up how Pokemon is played..

Maybe next generation (or with Z version), they could add a "Randomizer/Pokemon's choice" function. Instead of your Pokemon evolving based on set determinants (Like level up, ), some of them would evolve based on a combination of their "personality", how well you treat them, and their happiness overall . It'd be a neat idea in my opinion and somewhat logical, since not every animal in real life is the same and they have their own personality quirks. It'd also be pretty faithful to the anime, as there are some Pokemon in the show that don't want to evolve (Pikachu, Dawn's Piplup), while there are some that are very eager to evolve (Iris's Axew).

I don't think every single Pokemon should be subjected to this, but make it random instead so that maybe at least one or two Pokemon on your team have a quirk like this. I think it would go a long way to making you actually care more about the little bastard's you're raising and mix up things where it's usually been the same since the begining. Also, it would be completely optional so it wouldn't really affect anyone who didn't want to use it.

What do you guys think about that?

Togepi / Togetic (supposedly already found and confirmed as a Fairy-type; still awaiting a Regional Dex number)
Togepi has finally been confirmed? Wonderful, hopefully it can be found really early. Aside from Black 1 I don't think I've played a Pokemon game since G/S/C where I haven't got or transferred over a Togepi/Togetic early on.

LMAO @ the rose-tinted Kanto lovers.

Sinnoh had better geography and better environments what with the rain, snow, and other impediments. gtfo here with that shitty gen 1 nostalgia.

Great...only Ampharos and Zapdos seem to have an actual movepool beyond T-Bolt, so this sucks. Oh well, I'll just give Gardevoir T-Bolt and ignore the Electric types.
But Lanturn is awesome. :(

I think we all know that Hoenn is the best region in the series :P Man, I love that region and can't wait for a remake.

EDIT: Definitely liked Sinnoh, too. I feel like Hoenn and Sinnoh are quite similar. Not a fan of Unova either. BW2 Unova is definitely best.

No, imagine a game like this.

You finish one Region with your full leveled team ( after elite 4 around 60ish)
Then some post game in this Region, now the postgame story drives you into the next Region, fighting agaisnt those postgame enemies you will used your "champion team". but a Professor will tell you in these Region are even more Gyms and Pokemon, you get a second roster of team, the rookie team.

You will fight through the Gym's with your rookie team, after you obtained the 8th badge you can mix teams, throughout the new Region there are several Trainers in the wild who will differ which team they will use. Rinse and repeat for new Regions.

Edit: Also everybody who said Sinnoh was a good region is wrong.

But Lanturn is awesome. :(

Oh my bad, Lanturn has a great movepool but has REALLY shitty stats. It has an HP stat of 120, after that it's highest stat is 76...

WOW! Thank you for this list!!!

People are just saying their favorite region based on their favorite grn, I guess?

Kanto has become the standard (as in, can easily be passed up)

Johto is more like an add on

Hoenn as a region is okay, despite much of everything in it being forgettable

Sinnoh had variety, but that's about it

Unova is okay. It feels more grand and big in places but that deception of scale is about it

Maybe they all suck?

When adressing the games why do people refer to the originals when they have remakes?!?!?!

Fire Red and Leaf Green are extremely solid and because they're built on the same engine as sapphire/ruby it's easier to compare. Why are you comparing original R/B/Y same could be said with HG/SS

Hoenn was my favorite, hardly forgettable. That shit had more variety in one route than most regions had in one half of the map. And you had places like the sunken ships, Mirage Island, and walled city in the middle of the ocean, a town made of floating logs and a town in a forest canopy, along with varied terrain, a volcano basin, a desert, etc. Lots of creative terrain and routes. Best gen map by far in my opinion.

I'd love to see Hoenn remade in 3D, and expanded with a new chain of islands containing Pokémon from other regions. Slap a Mega Groudon and Mega Kyogre on the cover. BAM! Radiant Ruby and Sparkling Sapphire.

Haha, no. The original Kanto is still the most replayable. Good selection, awesome pacing, no excessive dialogue, no routes that drag down.

What? Kanto and Sinnoh are both awful. It admittedly had its pacing issues and a minimal sprite palette due to the transition to GBA graphics but Hoenn was probably my favorite region. Tons of diversity.

The only thing that depresses me about Fairy Togekiss is that it doesn't get STAB on Tri Attack anymore. Do we know the full extent of the fairy movepool now and if there'll be some viable special attack moves for it?

Most of those are over the top for the sake of being over the top, and they muddle together in the end with their lack of making sense. Not to mention, the place was just annoying with its excess of water.

Yeah, it sure is a heap of fun to balance on those wooden beams to avoid grassy areas and, oops, fallen off and triggered a random battle. Have to wait for this weather effect to end and this text telling me it's raining to scroll by to OHKO this Wooper.

Weather is so much fun, you guys!

Hoenn became a drag near the end of the game with the constant surfing. It also lacked regional diversity as everything was lush/tropical in climate. Personally speaking I think Unova is the best followed by Sinnoh. Hoenn is annoying for me, and both Kanto and Johto have aged terribly.

You know how the remakes had the location art show up whenever you enter them? It'd be great if they do it for cities as well if they do plan on doing a remake for R/S. It would look so good.

I believe Moonblast is 100 percent accurate, 95 power special attack with chance to lower enemy's Sp. Attk. Crazy stuff.

Isn't GameFreak vocally against paid DLC?

Their statements have been contradictory. At E3, they said that they were exploring the possibilities, but had nothing to announce. However, in another recent interview with a site called Pocketgamer, when asked about going in the micro-transaction or free-to-play routes with the series, Masuda said they wouldn't have DLC as long as he was the director.

lost in translation and stuff

They'd still do stuff like events/location promotion like they always do, but I hope more wifi.

Kanto started everything I guess for those who started with Kanto we can value the simplicity. Hoenn was dull as hell and is where the series for me became very stagnant...

You know, guys, if they remake Hoenn, it would be in polygonal 3D, which means they can shrink those bodies of water or even alter the landscape -- they don't have to follow the original layout religiously. A rough approximation would work, and in full 3D Hoenn would be filled with interesting new details.

In other words, don't let your opinion of the 2D game color your interest in a 3D remake!

Wait, so you can't currently do any kind of transfer from B/W/B2/W2 to XY even if you have the games on hand?

It's the Fairy (Ice Beam/TBolt/Flamethrower)

Poor Hydreigon :(

Hydreigon managed to top Dragonite as my absolute favorite dragon in the series last gen. Imagine how I feel now that Fairy's being treated as a legit threat.

:'(

I bet it's more of a difference of opinions between Masuda/Game Freak and Ishihara/The Pokémon Company. They've already done paid DLC in the recent 3DS Mystery Dungeon game. Game Freak may just be ardently against that route.
