Raise the flame shield: Your "controversial" gaming opinion.

I hope to see Nintendo doing iOS games soon. Even if they have to go bankrupt to see that.

Most people might not like it but I can see them doing great as a third party in smartphones gaming.

I just don't really see why. Nintendos biggest franchises really wouldn't be too well suited for mobile, and having to lose those just to have mobile Nintendo games like you'd see on a phone or tablet just isn't worth it to me.

I would never sacrifice a Nintendo EAD 3D Super Mario game for just about any mobile game.

Nintendo still puts out some of the most charming, well polished, and immensely fun games - some that wouldn't be very well suited to a phone or tablet.

It's not that I don't think they could do something interesting with those restrictions because I'm certain they could, but I would just miss the large scale Zeldas, Super Marios, Metroids, SSB, etc etc.

FPS games on consoles is a terrible idea, and I WILL look down on you if you enjoy it. It's unplayable and down right stupid. It began on PC, it should only ever be played on PC.

I don't mind your opinion but I dislike when it involves using incorrect information to "back" them up

Arcade and Console FPS predate PC FPS by quite a few years

Battlezone - 1980 - Arcade

MIDI Maze - 1987 - Atari ST

PC FPS only really took off with Wolfenstein 3D in 92' although id software had an earlier FPS for PC in 91'

I really hate Buger Time. Maybe more than any other game I've played.

Way too hard. I mean, that salt shaker is worhless, the enemies are way faster than you, and in the end the game is very blah even in the perfect universe where it's major flaws were corrected.

oh you can go straight to hell

there's nothing more satisfying than dropping a burger on a rampaging pickle that's out for human blood.

1) MH is nothing more than a clunky grindfest with subpar graphics.
2) I find it painful to watch grown man play any sort of pokemon.
3) HL2 is overrated and un-engaging, the gunplay is absolutely horrendous. HL1 much more interesting.
4) Nothing wrong with DC's aesthetic choice, nothing at all.

oh boy... lol

Xbox 360 is the most overrated console of all time. Both the PS3 and the Wii had much better games when it comes to exclusives. The 360 only got away with it because of its online service, and while it was slightly better than the PS3's, it should never have priority over actual games.

Come at me, bros.

I agree, after the first couple of years new quality first party games dried up on the 360.

I think people who were not around during the SNES V Megadrive (Genesis) era missed our on what was a great console war, where you only got one console, games were different on each machine and with no internet what was said about each machine rumour wise was treated as gospel.

Good Times

People who don't like fighting games, character action games, or arena shooters are peasants.

People who prefer sandbox games and story driven experiences are double peasants.

killzone franchise plays like crap even the vita version. people only interested in shadow fall because its coming to ps4. reviews will show just how average the game is like every single installment in the franchise even the above average killzone 2.

ps4 is just an updated ps3, no new experiences really being offered, sony played it safe.why not just get a pc and wait till a couple of years to find the ps4 at a much discounted price.

Vita is just a dead handheld gaf is far too in love with, might have games but most of them aren't worth a dam. soul sacrifice is just awful cant even believe review sites gave it anything higher than a 5.

i am getting an xbox one mainly for kinect 2.0 and tv features.

I like both so maybe I'm a half peasant.

Unless you like to dance, Kinect is useless.

That sounds actually terrible. I don't see how you can look back on that with fondness, unless you were kidding in which case I'm sorry.

i find it painful that grown men find other grown men doing as they please painful

I liked all the modern stuff in Earthbound.
Mother 3 isn't exactly a loving embrace of modern day life.

i see what you're saying in terms of setting, but...Mother 2 was by no means a "loving embrace of modern day life" if you were paying attention either, though

this may be the first time ive seen a post of yours i agree with, but...yes. i suck hard at Burger Time but support this notion

Zelda 2 is a better game then LTTP. It dared to add new gameplay elements, something few Zeldas afterwards have done.

To take this further, I like Zelda 1 more than LttP too. I'm not going to argue that the original is 100% superior, since LttP's combat is so much more complex and the original has a few obtuse secrets, but I like the original's focus on fighting and exploring your way through dungeons rather than solving puzzles more, along with how the challenge in getting to each dungeon was actually finding them rather than figuring out how to open them.

You really seem to hate everything Sony/Playstation related, every post I've seen from you is about how shitty they are.

To me that also sounds like a very weak reason to get a console, but I guess it's just me.

I have never finished a Final Fantasy, I've tried and tried so many times... And it is a pity because I love some Squaresoft and Enix games such as Parasite Eve or Wonder Project, but the famous franchise never had my interest.
The last try was Final Fantasy VII and I have to say that part of the fault was that terrible Spanish translation. Anyway, I find it a bit... bland in terms of dialogues and story.

Bioshock Infinite is the worst 2013 game I've played this year. I can't finish it. The gameplay is so brain-dead it's almost offensive for such a high profile game. The relationship with Elisabeth (Who comes straight from Beauty & The Beast) is forced from the beginning and I don't fall for it. The violence is teenage garbage and for a game that is supposed to be clever and the best the medium has to offer in terms of maturity, I laugh silently.

I personally feel the Gran Turismo series is irrelevant today. It's a relic of a past generation living on previous glories.

What made them irrelevant? Just curious

My not so controversial opinion: ToX is the worst Tales game, seriously, it is. The game is bare bones in every department, technically flawed too, boring and primitive in gameplay. Can't even begin to understand why people like it so much.

Forza made it irrelevant for me.

Playing GT5 it just feels like a game without a soul, it's a bore fest, this is coming from someone who grew up with the GT series and loved every game and spent countless hours on GT1/2 and rushed out to buy a dual shock controller at release to play with GT.

I'm not even going to get into how poor the sounds are in GT5 or the whole non premium models.

Last of Us & GTAV: Redefining how boring and repetitive a 10/10 can be.

I really can't disagree with this one.

TLOU is one of the most overrated games I've ever played; decent and with an interesting story, but one that only really picks up by the last act, but gameplay? Nothing new here guys. Add in a barebones stealth and crafting mechanic and suddenly 10/10s everywhere! And before anyone says I loved Uncharted, especially 2.

As for GTA V, it's fine but my disappointment there is purely that after 5 years and so much hype around it, I expected more than what is basically just another GTA game.

Nintendo consoles generally have the weakest libraries in their respective generations.

Except the SNES, because that thing was fucking amazing.

Nintendo games don't hold the sway over me that they seem to do on GAF and most other gaming-centric message boards. My first ever console was an NES, but I didn't own a home Nintendo console again until I bought a Gamecube towards the end of that generation. Because of this I just never fell in love with the SNES or N64, and I certainly don't hold any nostalgia for those systems. Sure, I've enjoyed a few of the big games from those systems but I don't feel the loyalty, or whatever you call it, to Nintendo. Even their handheld offerings don't interest me much anymore, and that's odd considering the GBA and DS were played more than my home consoles from the same generations.

I will say that I do have a WiiU, but I bought it based on the hype my friends built up for it and I have yet to actually "fall in love" with the system.

Tomb raider reboot is HIGHLY overrated. Not a tr game, no puzzles, context and execution doesn't match intent / how pr sold it. Just a generic, albeit pretty, OTS for the mindless lemmings.

Thrasher skate and destroy makes tony hawk its bitch.

Thrasher skate and destroy makes tony hawk its bitch.

On point one: I agree completely

On point two: Aside from THPS2 and THUG1, I also agree completely. I've always considered the Skate series to be the spiritual successor to Thrasher:SaD.

I thought most people here didn't like the new TR actually.

Whenever any of my friends admit to liking it though, I do question their taste; it represents everything wrong with the shallow nature of AAA gaming.

60fps is completely unnecessary and I'd much rather devs focus on making games actually look decent on consoles. Maybe I'm superficial in that respect.

I get more out of seeing a field rendered at 30fps with abundant amounts of foliage and volumetric water than I do seeing a shitty ass and almost lazily plopped down texture which apparently signifies the "ground" with heavily compressed 2D water in an inarguably "smoother" game.

I agree it's not a Tomb Raider game, it's a female lead Uncharted game. But I did enjoy playing it.

I don't get CoD.

Since i played loads of CoD 4 the series has just been going horribly downhill and i can't understand how people can still play it, when it's essentially the same game every time.

I also hate the influence it's had, so any good games are being broken because they are following a CoD path, Battlefield and Halo being the foremost of these.

I also hate Forza, the driving feels dull and lifeless and i have no interest in having hundreds of cars i'd never use. Also i have no interest in mechanics or modding and just want to race stock.

There should be a special level of hell for the MS person that decided to back it over PGR.

I could not for the life of me get into Bastion

I thought FFXII was awesome

The Last of Us was only OK, storywise and mediocre, gameplay wise

Xbone doesn't seem as bad a console as everyone makes it out to be

CoD has sucked since 3.

The Vita is better than the 3DS bar none

The best trilogy this generation was Gears of War. I KNOW it sounds crazy but, think about it. Mass Effect drove off a cliff in 3. The only good Assassin's Creed games are 2 and Brotherhood. Dead Space was corrupted by EA. Two out of the 3 Halo games are from last gen. COD is cool, but besides 4 the single player took a back seat to the multiplayer. What else is there?

I guess Uncharted, but I agree GeoW Trilogy was better.

There wasn't as much hardline hate or vitrol, it was a lot more fun back in the day compared to now. I've met people who won't even speak to other people cause they own "XXXX" gaming product.

My controversial gaming opinion?

That gamers are way too negative, and take a perverse pleasure out complaining.

Toodles!

That's not controversial. That's a fact. especially with the advent of the internet. It's like a playground for debbie downers.

"Grown men playing Pokemon is weird and awkward" is probably a majority opinion. Although I bet they probably wouldn't say the same about Kirby.

If it's a good game, no shame in playing it even if the intended audience is kids. As for the adult Pokemaniacs out there, I'd normally think that's weird like bronies if the game didn't clearly have quite a lot of depth.

Minimalism is an artistic tool to focus in on specific themes, ideas or mechanics.

Journey uses minimalism to focus on nothing. It is an empty game, like a microscope being used to analyze an empty slide. It's a platformer that punishes you for experimenting by limiting your motions and forcing the player to collect jumps, and it's a vapid, theme-less short story told via static cutscenes.

Couldn't get into Assassin's Creed either.

GT is still better than Forza

PC gaming is overrated

I had fun playing Fable III

I thought all the Mortal Kombats from Deadly Alliance through Annihilation were awesome

SquareEnix is doing a great job.

We said controversial. Not outlandish.

Kidding, but I gotta ask for an explanation. They are:

- always talking about financial problems (sales never meeting expectations)
- games developed by them take AGES so this goes with point 1.
- upper mgmt seems to not be able to manage issues
- western games (from former Eidos family) sale decently yet they don't capitalize on these

- I thought FFIX was much better than either FFVII or FFVIII; in fact it's my favorite in the series.
- I thought both FFX and FFXII were terrible games.
- I think that both the KOTOR and Mass Effect series are very average.
- Yes, I enjoyed Chrono Cross more than Chrono Trigger.
- Skyrim is boring.
- MGS2-4 are steaming piles of you-know-what.
- Sonic Adventure 2 is my favorite Sonic game. YES!
- I did not enjoy the Mario Galaxy games.
