It competed with the worst nintendo console of all time, and the xbox one. Boring over the shoulder exclusives copy pasted over and over (I liked spider-man). 2011 laptop CPU powering it. Loud ass fans because of cheap thermal pads. Looked cool and had a solid controller though.
it's your opinion. I think it was a great SYSTEM

360 was a good console with great games early on but had a lot of shitty drawbacks rrod paying for online & the fuckin ass batteries & shitty d pad

Hard to vote on this, because except for Stadia, I have (and still do have) all of these consoles. And DUDE: no ColecoVision? One of the greatest consoles of all time? (Yes, I realize Stadia is not a "console." I never supported it.)

So, I guess for me, as a console hoarder, it would have to be 3DO. I tried to like it, wanted to like it, but just couldn't do it. That's the one console I didn't buy. I even supported the Atari Jaguar (what a bust that was) and the 32X.

Gotta be PS5 is you're a multiconsole gamer. If you've got a PS4 Pro, and Xbox and a PC; PS5 gives you nothing. The hardware is great, maybe their best ever compared to the field, but the truly exclusive games are just simply not there. The only use case is if you're dead set on being a one-machine gamer, it's OK, but even then, all the best stuff can be played on your old PS4 Pro.
So the ps5 sucks if you're willing to spend what 1,500 dollars as a low estimate for 3 platforms instead of 500 for one console!😂

Not really, just if you're a gamer who's dead set on owning every console, PS5 provides less exclusives than the PlayStations before it. By a wide margin. People who just want to play some casual COD and Madden will do just fine with it.

wii, ps2, and switch
  • wii was 1000% too casual
  • ps2 is a great system with an huge, varied library... but for me, something about it just doesnt hit that ultra-god tier status so many people give it
  • switch is good, but not that good

What percentage of gamers is this I would think it's small.

But you can play all ps4 exclusives on PS5 in far better quality. Casual games are eventually not gonna be available on ps4 e.g Helldivers 2 and GTA5. You could buy a PC to play some of those ps4 games ( good luck with bloodborne) but you would have to buy them again.

I think saying PS2 when PS1 exists is a joke, but that's just me.

Yeah, PS2 was lacking compared to, say, the XBOX, but as the dev tools matured, it succeeded in what it set out to do: make good 3d worlds. It was a lot less limited than PS1, which had neither the Saturn's charm point of nigh-immaculate 2d nor the z-buffering of the N64.

Now, if you were to criticize PS2 on dev difficulty, you'd have a point.

Gamecube for me. I hated the controller (still do). Ridiculous purple lunch box. Worst 3D Mario ever. Gimped disc capacity. The only system I resold less than 2 weeks after buying it. Wii at least I lasted a month.

Well, you just said average gamers don't go around buying extra consoles...

But listen, the PS5 is far from bad. Even with the library it has. The reason I mention it here instead of WiiU, 32x etc like others, is because it is good (but overrated). Those systems I mentioned aren't really rated at all. What blows my mind is the people defending this PlayStation guys. It's the diehard who are financing the blunders they're making in the C Suite. You should see my forum postings in the PS3 era. I was a CELL believer. I even went to war on AVS in defense of BluRay. It's OK to like it and be critical. Look at me, I was an admitted Intel and Nvidia fan boy. Past couple years I dropped them both with extreme prejudice. Though I suppose someone who insists that figuring out graphics settings is beyond their capabilities and thereby stuck with consoles, there's not really a choice this gen. If I was going to be stuck with only one console, I'd be taking PS5 over XBox. So I get it. But man, consider buying a prebuilt on Amazon and giving it a thorough test drive within the return window.

PS4 and Wii, by far

PS5 gets so much hate I don't see how it is overrated

edit yeah reading this thread I don't think people know what overrated means

Strongly disagree. The Saturn is very much overrated in gaming communities like the Dreamcast is, though less so.

Subjective and many of the games are redundant due to overlap with the PSX library.
I only agree that DC is overrated.
Saturn was great and holds up better than the PS1 and N64 if you go by imports.

wrong Dreamcast is underrated
A great console and a generational leap, crossgen games on Dreamcast like Revolt, was more next-gen than PS5 and Xbox games proportionally.
