Pokemon X and Y SPOILER Discussion Thread

My party so far:
Fletchinder 26
Pidgeotto 25
Combusken 27
Burmy 18
Quilladin 26
Zigzagoon 13

I have just been catching all the pokemon as I see them, I only have one badge and have been playing for nearly 10 hours.

So far my team is
Greninja - 37
Charizard X - 36
Honedge - 33
Raichu - 33
Tyrunt - 33
Lucario - 33 (Was Pangoro but switched it out once I realized that Lucario was given to us)

My team right now:
Frogadier-29
Charmeleon-28
Pidgeotto-29
Simisage-27
Pancham-28(HM Slave)
Amaura-27

I'm going to get rid of Pidgeotto once I can evolve Charmeleon into Charizard and can teach him fly, getting rid of Simisage for Phantump line, and Pancham for my baby Goomy's line.

My entire team is around lv. 40 and we just left the third gym. They are:

- Tyrunt (evolves in the morning, so I must wait)
- Venusaur
- Blaziken
- Greninja
- Raichu
- Diggersby (useful fellow -- Cut, Strength, Dig and Rock Smash!)

The way Exp. Share works now is BRILLIANT.

Dang. I'm on the fourth gym. I haven't been using the Exp. Share. I want to train most of mine myself and not have the sharer do all the work. I wish you could say "I only want the Exp. Share to be functional on this/these pokemon." Alas, you cannot, so I most likely won't be using it.

Is there a point in tipping people? Like once you tip a cumulative amount you get something? Or is it just a useless money sink?

Dunno if this is mentioned anywhere or not, but i believe Eevee needs to know one fairy move and 2 or more hearts in Amie. Seems convoluted....someone should test.

Sylveon rocks though. It learns this fairy move called Moonblast and rekts everything. Sylveon actually eclipsed my starter because it was rocking the exp multiplier from trade and amie.

It's true. I have a Sylveon and I learned Charm at level 29 while having 2 hearts in Amie.

This game is easy until after the 7th gym when everybody starts teaming up on you... ._.

At least catching Xerneas was awesome.

Current team:

Heliolisk Lv. 58
Meowstic Lv. 55
Goodra Lv. 52
Venusaur Lv. 59
Greninja Lv. 57
Marowak Lv. 53

I have but a simple request...kind of simple (are we allowed to make requests?).
I would like the other 2 Kalos starters (I have Fennekin as of now), as well as a Noibat. I just beat the first gym and would like the other 2 Kalos starts and Noibat as early as early can be.

Gurthang (Doublade) - Lv 35
Delphox - Lv 36
Gogoat - Lv 33
Floette - Lv 31
Furfrou - Lv 33

Currently in-between sixth members, it used to be Diggersby but he fell out of use. Will eventually pick up a Clauncher, would be training my Helioptile if I didn't already have two Pokemon susceptible to ground

Just evolved Doublade into Aegislash, and... I didn't expect such a massive drop off from his attack stat! At least I have power trick on him.

But those defenses...!

He has two formes. You're in defence form I believe it's called. When attacking, he changes into Blade Forme which I think switches his attack and special attack. I don't have him so I'm not sure on the specifics

Does anyone know how to find the music when going through the passageway things at the edge of towns? It's excellent

When you use an offensive move its attack and defence swap, when you use a defensive move they swap back. Don't worry.

I agree with you about the music. It's beautiful.

Carbink is so adorable that I couldn't resist catching two of them. And don't even get me started on Espurr, a.k.a. Cutest Pokémon Ever.

Anyone have a detailed breakdown of the difference between male and female Meowstick?

Movesets are really poorly documented at the moment, we'll probably have to wait... or I could bother to train mine since I caught one of each and report back but I'm not really far enough to do that effectively.

Just beat the champion. Final time was 21:56 and my Hall of Fame consisted of:

Greninja 79
Blaziken 80
Venasaur 67
Bisharp 69
Alakazam 67
Auroras 62

Exp share was a god send lol

Looking into it some more it's seems that Aegislash only goes back into defence mode when it uses King's Shield (which is a Moverelearner move). But yeah it's going to be interesting to see it find its place in the metagame.

Looks like

Shadow Claw/Shadow Sneak
Sacred Sword
Swords Dance/Iron Head
King's Shield

will probably be the moveset of choice for it

Chesnaught's shiny is so amazing. It really should've been the default color!

Probably gonna try to hatch a shiny Chespin when I beat the game now. He looks too good.

Would someone mind explaining to me how the fuck Aegislash isn't going to end up in Ubers thanks to its ability? Or is it deliberately this gen's Excadrill? (not kidding, excadrill is in ubers)

Aegislash's ideal strategy is very predictable, that might just save it from ubers (but probably not)

- Send out (Shield forme)
- Take hit
- Attack (Switch to Blade forme)
- Kings Shield (Back to Shield forme)
- Goto 20

Mindgames will have to be built around this bastard on both sides, since if you play it right it's effectively BST 720. But still very predictable.

Sword Stance: 60/150/60/150/60/60
Shield Stance: 60/60/150/60/150/60

Wait, would Mold Breaker disable its ability or no?

Is Kings Shield a priority move? Because if it's attacking second, I imagine that the opponent could take it out on turn 2, right before it can use King's Shield.

Everyone is operating under the assumption that King's Shield has priority. I'm not sure whether that's because it does or because Chesnaught's similar attack does. I'll be finding out when I can get my Doublade levelled up a bit more.

EDIT: Seems that Kanpachi said it does have priority. Thing's definitely going to be a pain in the arse.

Okay I'm in Lumiose City, and I've been to both the Pokemon centers, talked to everyone in each of them, but I still haven't found the Name Rater...
It's the town to the West

It's the town to the West

Which one, Camprier or Coumarine?

So is there any place yet that has the Pokemon's moves and what levels it learns them? Its getting really frustrating not knowing what moves my Pokemon is gonna learn and when, like I dont know when to evolve my Doublade cause I dont know what moves it'll get or what moves Aegislash would get. Same with missing Tyrunt evolving at lvl 39 since its still night time right now.

Aegislash's ability and Kings Shield is essentially the same as using Power Trick, right? Want to make sure before I replace it

So according to Serebii Litwik may have had its hidden ability replaced as the one he found in the Friend Safari had Infiltrator. This would mean no Shadow Tag Chandelure.

I asked in the OT, but no response yet and I'm impatient, so thought I would ask here too :)

Does anyone know what the best level is to evolve Pumpkaboo via trade?

So far my team is
Greninja - 37
Charizard X - 36
Honedge - 33
Raichu - 33
Tyrunt - 33
Lucario - 33 (Was Pangoro but switched it out once I realized that Lucario was given to us)
We have the same team :O except for Charizard. I have Charizard Y, the better of the two.

I'll be switching out Raichu and Lucario though

Is it just me or is there not much post-game content in the game? :(

That was a major complaint some people have said. Supposedly it's not as barren as reported, but not as rich as something like HGSS. But with Super Training, great online capabilities, and a ton of Pokemon, you could spend a lot of time trading and battling.

Here is your post game achievement list:

Get all the Vivillons
Get a Pokemon from each region
Max out a Pokemon's EVs at level one
Buy all the cosmetic items
Find a use for Chespin

Beat the champion last night with:

Greninja
Venusaur
Aegislash
Gardevoir
Draglage
Tyrauntum

Champion almost won until Venusaur decided enough was enough, turned on man mode and decimated her team.

It's a shame this game doesn't have BW2's Medal system. Nothing provides an incentive to do pointless stuff quite like the promise of an in-game achievement.
