XBOne Version of NBA 2K14 Missing From Blowout Press Event, Confirmed Native 1080p/60

Update 3: Clarification

That is good news. I wonder where they put the extra %50 power to use on the PS4 version if at all.

how come ads on tv only show PS4 logo at the end then?

I have no idea about the TV spots. I haven't seen them. I find it hard to believe that they don't mention the xbox one at all. But if they don't that's a marketing deal.

In terms of these reveal events is what I've been talking about. Sony isn't paying anyone to show their version or not show other versions. I've been told this directly. Honestly they don't have to and they know it. If you have the best version of everything why waste money only showing yours? You *WANT* both shown.

Glad to hear both are 1080p/60fps though. 2k Sports are wizards. NBA 2K on current gen are some of the best looking games each year.

Well, what do you know? One of the most impressive games shown thus far is native 1080p at 60fps on both systems. And, no, I don't think there's anything wrong with why the Xbox One version wasn't shown.

Personally, I'm thinking a marketing deal of some kind. I know Mortimer says that's not the case, but I think that's underestimating how aggressively Sony is marketing the PS4. When they say that the PS4 marketing campaign is the largest in Sony's history, they probably aren't just dishing out hyperbole. Even I made a thread on how much I think the PS4 marketing is outpacing the Xbox One marketing thus far, at least from what I've seen on US television, and how much it surprised me. But it doesn't just stop there, folks.

Pay special attention to what Sony is doing. They appear to be doing more third party publisher/game specific deals now than I've ever seen them do before. Look at the big marketing campaign around Watch Dogs before it was pushed back, look at the way Assassin's Creed has gotten a spotlight on the system. That new Assassin's Creed US TV commercial with Drake's 'started from the bottom' opens up with the playstation logo and ends only showing the game coming for the PS4 and PS3. You've got things like exclusive additional gameplay, exclusive DLC, and it spreads across multiple games, even Destiny.

Before the first footage of the next gen version of this game was ever shown, it was officially labeled by the company making it as the debut of the first PS4 footage. That's not something you commonly see without some type of deal in place. They usually just say instead that you're seeing the next gen console version of the game for the first time, but it was highlighted as the PS4 version. Or am I mistaken about the company themselves saying that? Was it someone else who called it the PS4 version before the footage was ever shown, and not 2K themselves? Either way, doesn't matter, I suppose, but, trust me, if I even remotely catch wind that the Xbox One version isn't perfectly up to snuff, I can always cancel my pre-order for the game, and just grab the PS4 version later. I've got plenty of time to do that before the system launches, and the game has to be reviewed, on both versions, before the PS4 is out, since the game also launches with the PS4.

Glad someone agrees with me. Well articulated.

this is the sort of shit we got with PS3 versions of Multi-platform games. Not shown until launch for poor quality in comparison to the 360.

So they also made deal with COD and NFS?

yep nothing to worry about. it's just aggresive sony 3rd paty marketing that only ps4 versions have been seen. The months of concerns about dev talking xb1 trouble with dev tools and performance have absolutely nothing to do with it.

must be the new aggresive sony 3rd party marketing. has to be.

Also, what's this about the Xbox One version of COD never being shown? The first ever debut footage was confirmed by the developer to be running entirely on the Xbox One. And the PS4 footage that was shown on IGN, wasn't that just the MP? I really didn't watch much of that footage except for a glimpse after people kept saying how terrible it looked, so that made me curious. But, to date, the only SP footage shown has either been the Xbox One version or the PC version. Did people doubt 2K when they said that the footage of NBA 2K14 shown was the PS4 version? I don't see any reason to doubt Infinity when they say the debut trailer for COD Ghosts is running entirely on the Xbox One. What's with the skepticism around everything Xbox One? Even now people can't seem to square that the PS4 version and Xbox One version of this game are running at the same resolution. Although, I personally wouldn't have been surprised in the least if the Xbox One version were running at a lower resolution, but apparently it's confirmed that both are 1080p native.

Texture resolution could be different. Just because both will be 1080/60p doesn't confirm that the game will look identical on both platforms.

PS4 guys have been harping on this resolution shit for a month now. Now that a X1 game matches the resolution, you're going to dig into the textures? What's next?

You don't understand some people care more about games and features than graphics? You don't understand that some people want to pay more money for a less powerful console when they prefer that console's exclusive games plus extra entertainment features to the competitors exclusive games? I... I just don't even...

He could have been talking about the response below.

I didn't know speculating there could still be differences between versions was such a problem.

I don't think anyone can really change your mind at this point.

Wow, 2k must have some voodoo magic. Those graphics at 1080/60 for both systems on launch? Insane.

The X1 no show is still a little worrisome. But even if it's a tad downgraded it's still impressive.

Take it easy. I was referring to the comment below the image.

Are you really having trouble understanding why people are skeptical of anything regarding the Xbone? It's honestly not that difficult to understand.

He made a completely valid point. NFS (from EA, who have MANY deals with XB1 right now), NBA2K14, and EVEN COD(!) are being shown on PS4. Why? Does anybody honestly think Sony has a marketing deal to only show the PS4 version?

Do you know so little about graphics that you can't think of other improvements beside resolution and framerate or what is your point?

Fair point. They could add more effects.

Reading the first few pages of this thread after knowing the updates is amazing. So much for forza 5 being the only native 1080p XB1 game.

Wait, do you really think a game being 1080p and 60 fps alone makes them equal in all aspects? We wouldn't have to speculate if they'd just show the Xbox One version. We've been trained to believe "version not shown is at least somewhat subpar compared to the version shown."

CoD was the tipping point for me.

In my eyes someone from IW would have said "calm down everyone it's 1080p on both systems" by now.

The writing was on the wall :/

Honestly, I'm just glad there is a big game announced to be 1080p on Xbox One. It makes me think, "hey, maybe it's not all bad."

No I don't think that makes them equal but enough is enough. What happens if we find out the textures are the same, we start comparing how many hairs are in Harden's beard?

As far as being "trained", that's a load of horseshit. PS4 is their lead platform in marketing and development (I think). Not having the X1 version at a small press-only event with a couple of units is telling of nothing.

Gameplay

Mike Wang is on and speaking about elevating the game harnessing the tech. Primarily in physics and animations. Foot planting clips shown.

Wang is talking about Ecomotion. Foot planting. No sliding or phantom steps. Showed difference between cur and next gen. It looks great. Really no sliding. Now showing dribbling. Ball actually rotates while dribbling which is not in current gen.

Now speaking to ball handling. Eco Motion allows them to track true physics. Ball spinning when dribbling, ball in hands. Tangible object.

New animation system. Guys will have real life wingspans. New KD shoes look great.

Mike speaks about animation synthesis, Eco Motion - based on physics and situation, animations will change. With animation synthesis, animations will change based on circumstances. If KD takes a shot and D is guarding him tight, anim will change on the fly.

The game feels alive. For example, a shooter won't land the same way two times. Animation will adapt to the situation. Truly incredible stuff here.

You would think people would be starting threads about this and talking about the things that matter instead of the resolution wars we have lately, smh.
I fucking doubted 2K, I thought they would just up the res and improve graphics but this is just too fucking good! That game alone would get me to next year.

while it is still a little worrisome that the x1 version wasnt shown, the fact that it is 1080p and 60 fps makes me feel a bit better. surely the easiest cut to make with the smallest impact on the overall look would be resolution... so if thats 1080p i'm not concerned... much.
