Guys,

After 15 years or so of playing Pokemon, I just now deciding to step up a bit and raise my Pokemon competitively, at least for a bit. I'm not aiming for championships or perfect winnings or the like, I still wanted to use my favorite Pokemon even though it might not be viable competitively so that shouldn't be too hard.

So I begin reading about IVs, EVs, Natures, Abilities, breedings and builds etc and consider myself still knowing jack shit. I'm now trying to breed a Pawniard with Adamant Nature. I purposely ignored IVs for now since it's my first build after all. My next target is to get it to learn Sucker Punch, but I understand that I need to breed it with something else (Cacturne or Croagunk, which I have).

My question is: how do I start? Do I breed it to get Sucker Punch first, then find the right Nature? And after I got the "ideal" one, where is the best place to train?
Kill two birds with one stone: getting both the right nature and Sucker Punch, that would be best imo since you're not worrying over IVs.

Also, can someone help me out and infect a Pokémon of mine with PokéRus?

Man, I have 2 Shinies already after only seeing one in previous Generations.

Shiny Vanillite in a Horde and Shiny Crawdawnt in the Safari.

I'm not trying to make excuses here, but y'know, that was my first battle against a person in maybe a decade! And I had HMs all over the team! That O-power hurt. I did do that thing with the whirlwind, man :(

Nah, I didn't really mean it like that. I always give out a random o-power whenever a battle's over. :P

Sorry for going all out, but you did get me pretty damn good with the whirlwind. Messed up my volcarona majorly.

Too many dragons is your downfall though.

Also goddamn, dat Belly drum/aqua jet combo.

I was aiming for a perfect 6 IV Gible, but I did manage to make two 31/31/31/X/31/31 Gible, one female and one male so I'll use the male for myself and keep the female for a rainy day.

I do have a box full of 4 IV'd Gible that have Rough Skin as an ability. Not sure if I should give 'em away or Wonder Trade them. My friend list is terribly full due to Animal Crossing folks.

I got a Japanese Eevee with Anticipation through Wonder Trade with 5 Perfect IVs.

Holy shit.
Good god almighty.

Yeah there's just way too many in Gen 6. I only ever made 3-Pokemon teams for in-game battle facilities, so I bet if I ever think up a full team it'll be swiss cheese in typing.

So I've come to the conclusion Aurorus is my favorite from this new generation, under harsh competition from a ninja frog and a luchador hawk.

Having a wide variety of STAB supereffective, Boltbeam/BoltBlizz, Avalanche and good survivability+lowish speed necessary to make good on it, I think it'd do well. I'd like to run a Hail team around him once I get ahold of a good +SPA/SPD focused Glaceon and a Stallrein since I got MEGAVOLVED Abomasnow, but Ice really got no real buffs this generation; if anything, a stronger offense Steel and stronger defense Fire makes it worse off in ways (if I'm seeing it right).

Daaaaamn that Shiny Gardevoir Bride Form looks pretty awesome.

Too bad it's male :P

He feels pretty, don't hate! :P

The actual online battle spot is limited to 3 only, so you can try that out if you want that style.

Hold on:

To get Hidden Abilities from Friend Safaris, the friend whose safari that you're in has to be online?

Either way, my next project will either be Dragalge or Heracross.

I'll finally have a team of 6 by tomorrow I hope. It's a random mess but it's my first time trying this so I'm going easy on myself. I'm sure I'll probably need a better lead with Hazards and a spinner at some point, but I'll focus on that once I feel the pain.

So hopefully I'll get some games in with some more gaffers then.

Just got an adamant Scyther by way of Wonder Trade in exchange for a lowly sandshrew. I know nothing of IV training, but adamant's good right? Seems to boost attack at the expense of special attack which might be useful.

Thanks Clairovoyance! :)

Edit: These guys have Dragon Dance too? Nice! Won't be useful for this build but I'll save it for a future Tyrantrum for sure!

I believe the friend being online significantly increases the chance of Hidden Abilities showing up, but it is not a requirement.

I went Ditto hunting yesterday in a Friend Safari and they still showed up with Imposter.

So my tentative team is looking like...

Dragonite, Mawile (Mega), Alakazam (Focus Sash), Azumarill, Volcarona, Aegislash.

I've yet to fully finalise what items are going to who and move sets etc... but how does this look generally? I've never played Pokemon competitively so this is my first time making a team like this.

Scyther and Scizor are physical attackers. They don't care about Special Attack so Adamant is one of their best natures. There are some builds that use Jolly, for the speed boost, though.

No problems, thanks for the Eevee! I put Dragon Dance on it since you can relearn egg moves now in X/Y in case I wanted to change movesets.

I always get beaten so badly by Gaffers.

Just saw first hand how good Protean Greninja is. It gets super effective STAB damage on just about everyone. And coupled with its speed, its weaknesses and resistances often change after you've already chosen an attack. I don't know how to deal with that :lol

No, Diggersby's base Attack is between Azumarill's (150 or so) and Medicham's (170 or so).

Huge Power doesn't just double the base stat.

So it triples the base attack stat? Why does the description lie?

It's my weakness in online 3v3, where I mostly use the pokemons I really like. Which means basically no DEF at all. :P

I hate 3v3 with a passion. 1 crit or 1 miss can decide the whole match. And I'm sick of dealing with Garchomp and Blaziken.

btw, how did your Haxorus outspeed Mega Houndoom? He's Timid with max speed EVs(115 base speed). I'm still learning. ;_;

Dragon dance raises speed. Plus haxorus already has a base speed of 92.

Oh, I mustn't have been paying attention. Didn't see the Dragon Dance. I make so many dumb mistakes, but I'll get it eventually.

I think I'll breed a Ferrothorn. I have nothing to deal with with Water and Fairy, and he covers both of those with his STABs.

Pretty much why I'm using him. :P

Goddamn brave bird spamming talonflames. :(

It's not that Brave Bird is the problem. It's that it's coverage with Flare Blitz is really good.

Aegislash is a sufficient counter IMO even if it doesn't run Iron Head. No Fairy types to my knowledge have a secondary typing that resists ghost (except for the Normal/Fairies that I can't remember whether they got Fairy added on or it replaced their typing altogether).

God, I've had terrible luck with my Froakie breeding. Got a 31/31/31/31/x/31 Protean Froakie.. but with HP Steel (need Fire). I have 31 Attack because I run U-Turn.. and his defenses are terrible anyway

I'll take that Froakie if you don't want it. The one I have has HP grass. :(

I'm gonna start breeding Anticipation Eevees with perfect IVs using the Japanese Eevee I got. PM if you're interested in grabbing one. FC is in my profile and trainer name is Reya.

Not really asking for anything in return as any 3-4 IVs will be disposed of through Wonder Trade, but I am chasing an Adamant Jolly Rough Skin Garchomp.

I'd be happy to have one :)

I don't really have a problem with fairy, but I'm using ferrothorn pretty much because it covers my def weakness and water weakness. Plus it works pretty well in a team with azumarill and volcarona.

Currently using it as a parent (best female I have is x/31/x/x/31/31, so results vary. Hopefully I get a good female soon so it will move faster. I'll let you know if I get more :D

EDIT: oh and they're Hasty

Adamant? I have Jolly Rough Skin Gible with 4 IVs and I'm sure I can breed up one that has 5.

Asking again: Can anyone infect a random Pokémon with Pokérus for me? Wonder Trade isn't helping.

I'd like to take one as well, I don't mind the IVs though, just the hidden ability.
