It balances out stream monster East Coast bias.

Meh not really. WC players get tons of coverage and sponsor deals despite lack or travel, placing, and exposure. At the end of the day, EC travels, WC doesnt. Always more EC heads at tourneys all around the US unless the tournament is right in SoCals backyard.

That's exactly why ChrisG was the only EC player at Canada Cup.

French Bread on blast
French Bread's staff is probably too used to drawing rail-thin Type-Moon characters. (Seriously, every female character in their series looks like they would fall over from a gust of wind.)

...and did Kamitani really draw Filia with what would barely qualify as a belt for a skirt? Yooooo.

That's because the Illuminati are all out on the west coast, dur. To be fair, it's easier to travel to events on the EC, for someone living in NYC there are a lot of events you can make on a (sometimes long) drive, whereas if you're in CA anything outside of CA itself or the southwest (Vegas/Phoenix) is going to be a hike (and AZ doesn't even have a major anymore).

I think part of it is that it seems like there's more streaming done by the WC players -- although that might be a bias induced by how much FGTV streams. I don't know why the bigger EC players don't stream.

As I've been saying for years.

Everything looks great outside of that, I'm concerned about the duration of those transitions as well. It's a series staple though so I'll deal.

edit: it's still coming to current gen systems as well correct?

Yes is crossgen confirmed, PS3 and PS4 versions.

I think it's easy to say EC travels to more tournaments when Big E himself runs more tournaments in Philly than the entire West Coast circuit.

lol so like a couple of hours?

How about this? For Norcal players since West Coast Curleh is in Irvine it takes a 7 hour drive just to get there and participate.

Get on our level.

It depends on where they're going -- Boston is about 4 hours, Toronto and Montreal are about 6-7 hours, Raleigh is about 7-8 hours, hell even Atlanta is about 13 hours (and I know players who have made that drive -- or bus trip). So it's some long drives -- but there's not even anything in that range for CA players outside of Las Vegas and Phoenix (hell, even San Francisco to Seattle is over 12 hours).

I've made the trip from Phoenix to LA and back many times, I know that feeling. :p

Man, this game looks amazing! I can't wait to play it. What are the mechanics of this game? I've heard they "dumbed it down" a little, is it true? I've never been into the old GG's, but xrd looks too damn good

It's basically a more complicated P4A with less Jojo's influence.

I think you drastically underrate the travel distance for most people on the EC. Excusing tournaments like NEC and ECT which are closer to the EC major cities. WC still doesn't got to CEO, Final Round, TFC, or MWC. All these "sponsored" players at TRB and WNF yet they can't ever make it out to majors? SoCal is just lazy plain and simple. Again far more EC people out to SCR and NCR than WC come to NEC and ECT.

Things are still in the air and changing.

Blitz is this new parry-like mechanic (if you played GG before, think slashbacks) in this loketest.

Roman Cancels (spend 50% of meter to return to neutral during a move on hit or block) are different compared to GGXX and this loketest, the yellow one is like False Roman Cancels (25% of meter to return to neutral during a move, move specific and specific to a certain "part" of said move).

Faultless Defense seems more or less the same. When blocking, spend meter to avoid chip and cause a little more pushback, also has secondary uses.

Burst to get out combos/pressure or if used offensively, give full meter.

Chain system is "Gatling Combos" where specific normals will chain into specific normals, not as straight forward as magic series L M H.

You build meter easy, walking/dashing forward builds meter.

Negative Penalty is doing too many retreating actions in a span of time, you lose meter and take extra damage.

Hitstun proration is the combo limiter. It's confusing if you want to math it, but in GGXX the guardbar did a good job of communicating it.

What's MWC?
joke

Okay buddy. When I go to Evo next year and I see a majority west coast audience I'll put it all on EC being lazy bums.

That's a load of crap and you know it.

Seriously though, you need to cite some sources for this. To my recollection, the only people from the east coast to attend SCR or NCR this year were ChrisG, MarlinPie, and maybe RayRay? Meanwhile, I know ECT had a bunch of west coast players, including Justin & Friends, the FGTV guys, and Fanatiq. I don't know which events had more from the opposite coast, but it's not as straightforward as you say.

Additionally, the reason CEO, TFC, and FR have more east coast than west coast players is that they're still much much easier to get to from the east coast than from the west coast. For UFGT too (I'm gonna assume that's what you meant by MWC), flights are significantly cheaper when flying from the east than from the west, and driving is only possible if you're coming from the east coast. Even then, we still saw a pretty even split of east coast vs west coast players at UFGT this year and the prior year.

Does anyone remember that youtube video where a guy is explaining what's so great about Virtua Fighter? I can't find it.

Stop making excuses for SoCal. They don't go to majors, when they do the majority of them get bodied. The only thing that matters is placing at majors. You want to be considered a top player, get off your ass and go play against proven top players.

guys, the wc people can travel more because they have more money. EC people are poor. I mean they don't even drive cars in the EC, they take buses and trains. WC people don't go to that many tournaments because they are smarter and want to save money. I mean not all of us want to take the bus/train for life and live like bum(s).

Man that's right I forgot. It's just that the SoCal player are just so much smarter. Man you're right I've been wrong this whole time. Sorry guys, my bad. Why would a guy save his money from winning TRB or WNF and take it and go to a major to prove that he's actually good? Smart thing to do is just keep that money and spend it on Del Taco.

Or just go to school. Look at richard, he goes to UCI. What school does Rayray go to? Richard is an investor. Rayray is a gambler that lost money to a washed up vet.
edit
I mean if you look at it in other esports, there are no good league players on the ec. Why? Because ec people make bad decisions and can't save money to afford a computer to play league. Obvious there are exception like silk.

http://shoryuken.com/2013/11/04/legend-of-raven-release-extends-to-playstation-4-and-xbox-one/

After announcing a shift in both name (Yatagarasu to Legend of Raven) and platform (3DS to PlayStation Vita) earlier this year, a brand new trailer released by Nicalis today reveals a bit more information on their port of Hotapen’s doujin fighter. Legend of Raven will see its reach expanded past the handheld to Sony and Microsoft’s next-generation consoles.

The trailer also reveals that the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One releases, along with the previously announced Vita version, will employ GGPO netcode in their online play. Whether or not these updates will change the Q4 2013 release window remains to be seen.

Do you mean the LAAkira one, when it was on levelup? I think it was him and it was there.

Damn, I want to watch it now as well. I forgot where it was/who did it.

Yeah, the Legend of Raven trailer was made private after I posted the article. I included all the information though, so all you're missing out on is recycled gameplay footage.

Yatagarasu on Vita/PS4/XB1 is the old version, not the new kickstatered one, right?

Why the hell would they do that?

Graphics are gonna see a bit of a bump (mostly backgrounds, I believe), but yes it's basically the original PC release.

As for why: Nicalis has been working on this port for quite some time and Nyu Media is responsible for publishing Attack on Cataclysm.

Rico and Sp00ky should be able to fit it. Big ass Art, I don't think so.

Who wants to play some AE? I feel like playing after Wao was wowing everybody with his Oni. Yeah I totally went James Chen there.

Proven top players? What's their eventhubs ranking?

Man, I'm not sure how I feel about the game's visuals. The character models are wonderful and most of the stages are pretty cool by themselves, but the transitions from one move to another during a combo are still just as bad as their 2d games and the characters look like they are lit the same way on every stage, so they don't look like they fit together. It's a bit of a mess. :x

Looks fun though.

This is a load of shit.

I have half a mind to dig up player rosters and compare player prevalence in these tournaments. I am not going to do that because it's too much work and really the person who is making these bold claims should do the fact digging himself. I don't even remember who showed up at NCR from the East Coast aside from someone like ChrisG and RayRay (sponsored players). Usually from both sides it's the sponsored players who travel far coast to coast. Obviously not talking about events like CEO/Final Round which are way closer to the East Coast than the West Coast.

There isn't a big difference between the two to say that one coast travels a lot and the other is filled with lazy bums. You constantly see Justin Wong, FChamp, Neo, PRRog, Ricky Ortiz, Floe, Mike Ross travel out far to tournaments. Hell even lower tier players like CJShowstopper is seen traveling long distances.

It is all relative.
