How is it a copout statement? Listen, for multiplatforms, yes the PS4 will have the graphically superior version. That is a selling point in the PS4's favor and no one is disagreeing with that. But, in the end, the games are always what matters, and exclusives will be a major selling point. That has been proven time and time again, and I don't know why people are so adamant about turning a (trivial to many) performance advantage into such a major selling point that it should overrule any other aspect of the system.
People know about exclusives though. There's nothing to discuss there. You simply buy a console for the games you want and that's that. There's also no reason for the media to downplaying OBVIOUS advantages in terms of performance. We have facts are what games will be running on so there doesn't need to be any extra comments from the media about what matters our not. Let the customer decide because depending on a persons situation, they may be a position to tell the difference in games and they will do want to choose a system that will give them the best visuals.
For me personally, I wasn't like this last gen. I bought systems for exclusives. Surprisingly to me I've seen people choose a system based on multiplats, so it CAN actually be a selling point for a lot of people believe it or not.
For the general gamer, many won't care, but they deserve to know the truth about what they're getting for $500 and be informed rather than spread false information led by Microsoft PR that doesn't properly communicate information about the native resolution their games play at.
