Wii U Games 2013

I was just thinking about this yesterday. Are you referring to the ground pound and blow moves? Im pretty sure blow is gone, but i forget...

Yeah, those.
But nevermind, I just watched the whole video I posted and that shit is still present (1:28) for reference.

Oh, right. I dont mind the smashing. the blow is the only game mechanic that kind of felt forced and broke the flow of the game too much to me. maybe they will add button moves, since they must have had to on the 3ds version...

edit:i just realized we look like M & L talking to each other about DK.

Can I post my nintendoID here. I have no wii U friends.

Add me! "namDa65"

Just got the system, can you view people's profile on wii U and compare played games?

I didn't mind at first since the first two or three sections of the island were easy but as you progressed in the game where perfect jumps, timing, killing enemies on the fly and cat reflexes were crucial, shaking the remote to smash, blow and roll became really annoying in order to find all the puzzle pieces or the "Kong" letters.

You can view their miiverse profile, which probably isn't exactly what you are looking for, but you can view their posts from there.

No played games list that I know of, but you can see what they are currently playing.

EDIT: I just watched a video of M&S 2014, and holy crap the skating ring turns into starlight road, and there are wisp powerups?

Regarding Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze.. do we know if we still have to shake/waggle our controllers to perform tricks? I recently finished Country Returns and my God it was a frustrating mechanic.

Edit: Like the one from :18

Sounds like it should be better.

Many fans will be happy to hear that when using the GamePad, you can perform a roll and pound by pushing a button (Y)

I am considering buying a Wii U very heavily in the lead-up to Christmas. I did justify buying a 3DS with less games out for it and I have been on the fence for a while.

There looks to be a few good games here and there for the Wii U as well (W101 looks especially good to me).

Go ahead and jump in, man. The more of us who jump in increases the chance of better stuff down the line. Besides, there are some good games available now, so you really can't go wrong...in my opinion.

What? I don't get it. Why are you not getting it?

Waggling.
I just HATE that mechanic. It broke the game for me
And since they seem to be doing the same for Tropical Freeze, well...

Probably you're going to say..use the gamepad then
but I can't. I don't feel comfortable holding it for more than 1 hour.
I can't get used to it. I haven't finished ZombiU, Batman Arkham City and NintendoLand for the same reason and probably never will.

Don't get me wrong I think the gamepad is a nice piece of tech and all the features and possibilities it provides as a second screen are pretty useful but if games support other controllers, I will avoid the it like the plague.

Do we know that using the remote requires that you "waggle" to do the ground pound?

Its the best time to jump in yet. Grab yoself a bundle, a sweet game and get hyped for that Mario.

I say go for it. NSMBU, Pikmin 3, Wind Waker, Rayman Legends (if you don't have it), Wonderful 101 are all great games plus we have Wii Fit U, Wii Sports Club and 3D World coming out. LOTS to do.

Download EarthBound too :)

Same here. I played a bit of WWHD today with off screen play and was totally sold. They go for dirt cheap on Craigslist, so selling my PS3 and grabbing a Wii U with SM3DW would be awesome.

I was looking for some Metroid images on google and then I found this:

Well, that's pretty cool. Imagine a Metroid U this way.

Deus Ex down to $40.70 new on Amazon.com. That didn't take too long. It'll probably drift close to alignment with the PS360 versions before much longer.

Please tell me you took advantage of the white pro controller on sale then.

It's my birthday so screw it, what should I buy, Sonic, Deus Ex, or ACIV?

(Note: I will likely own all at some point anyway, and I already own Deus Ex on PC but the Wii U version sounds like a much better experience all round. Also, ACIII bored me after 12 hours...)

If you really have that much of an issue with both of those controller setups then you can just use the Pro Controller. I am guessing that there is some other reason why that won't work for you either though.

Actually I own both the Wii U Pro and Wii Classic Controller and I would be happy to use them for this game but I don't know if they have been confirmed.

My pick would be Deus Ex, but I haven't played Sonic.

AC IV is not available in Europe, so I don't know about that. Between Sonic and Deus Ex is a tough choice, specially if you have already the PC original. Deus Ex for Wii U is a really great game with probably the best SP implementation for the Gamepad, while Sonic is a controversial game which I enjoy very much. I would take both, but if you have to chose, I would go rather for Sonic because I think Deus Ex will drop faster in price.

Price isn't an issue as I can only really buy from the eShop due to my location. I know Ubisoft has had deep sales on the eShop twice (?) now, so I'll probably wait on another one for ACIV.

If we're still talking about DKC TF, the no. No other controllers outside of the GamePad and Wiimote/Nunchuk have been confirmed. Expect more on that closer to release since we only learned about CC support for Mario 3D World a month ago or so when the website launched.

Looking for some advice for games for the holidays. I haven't played my Wii U since I left for college, but when I return home for Christmas I plan to make use of it. My current library of Wii U games is Nintendoland, NSMBU + NSLU, and Pikmin 3 and I enjoyed playing and finishing all of them, but now I want to try out some new games. I'm thinking of taking advantage of the B2G1 free deal at Target in a few weeks so I'm hoping to get at least three games. I'm definitely picking up Super Mario 3D World (doesn't apply for Target deal though) and The Wonderful 101. Trying to decide what other games to pick up, and I'm considering WW HD, Rayman Legends, and Sonic Lost World but I have my reservations about each so I would like to hear what you guys have to say. For the record, my issue with WW was the price which shouldn't be a problem with B2G1 free, Sonic is due to the negativity about that game, and Rayman is mostly due to saltiness about the delay leading to not wanting to really spend full price on it.

For the B2G1: Wonderful 101 / Wind Waker / Rayman Legends. Definitely.

The sale takes care of the issue with the WW price (and it's worth it anyway) and Rayman Legends is worth ignoring any saltiness over.

I see.
Well, in that case I guess I'm going to wait closer to release to see if they ever confirm those controllers.
Like you said, they released an ad saying 3D World supported Wiimote+Nunchuk too so there's hope

Out of the games you are unsure of, I'd go with WW HD.

Personally, Rayman is fine but the Wii U is platform-heavy and Super Mario 3D World and Donkey Kong will be the better games as my guess.

Accidentally saw a store here having The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword - Orchestra Edition or something on sale real cheap so I bought it. I have never played it but I can't wait to try it out when I get a Wii Remote Plus controller. All Wii games can be played on the GamePad screen with the Wii controller + nunchuck right?

OK sounds like I will be getting W101 / Rayman / WW HD for the B2G1 free deal then! (and Mario the week later)

I admit it is a little disappointing to hear that the new Sonic game is a turd because it did have my curiosity, but a bad game is a bad game regardless.

I've been playing Sonic via Gamefly rental, and it's not a turd. It could use some polish and it's a little too hard for it's own good, but it's mostly been fun so far. Some review sites seem all too ready to shit on any Wii U exclusives for some reason (Zombi U, Wonderful 101, this). But the game does have it's problems, so I wouldn't recommend it as a "must buy" either. You'd have a decent time with it, is all. Therefore, not a turd.

Rayman Legends will be $25 at GameStop on Black Friday, and there's a good chance other retailers will have it even cheaper, so just keep that in mind.
