Fighting Games Weekly | Nov 4-10 | I-No what that finger smells like [18+]

Can't imagine they'd do that, especially since the focus of USF4 is solely on people who have been keeping the game alive for the last 2 or 3 years. So it's automatically a smaller audience they're aiming at. Splitting THAT audience further in half seems weird.

Plus, this is a goofy ass ad. I don't think something as potentially big as securing rights to the main entry in the biggest fighting game series ever would be rolled out with something this silly. Especially since there's really no reason to make the ad centered on cabs unless it's a play on words somehow.

So it's probably just Street Fighter II & III in all their endless iterations for Capcom Arcade Cabinet.

Maybe Sony will let Iron Galaxy put that fucking patch through.

Oh god the Iron Galaxy SF III patch, opening the wound again.

My original thought was Sony is doubling down on their 4theplayers campaign by making nostalgia heavy viral videos of 1st or 3rd party franchises that can be found on the PS4. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw more videos like this.

That's definitely a possibility, too. Can't get an exclusive? Fuck it. Market it like it is anyway. People will associate that product with your product more than the other one.

what if it was some godly bundle of like

*SSF2T
*VS
*SF3:3S
*SFA2 or SFA3

basically Capcom GGPO for PS4

I think having a ton of titles in one would automatically make the community for each one bigger

It wouldn't cause salt, it would just kill the Xbone in the FGC.

Not sure about that. All signs point to a sponsorship from MS for Evo 2014 with an inclusion of Killer Instinct in the featured games at the competition.

Having a new game exclusive to the PS4 that causes demand would place stress on Evo, financially and logistically (you'd need XBox Ones for KI, PS4 for whatever title this is, and XBox 360s for other titles).

Assuming Evo can pull it off, it leaves an extremely heavy burden on TOs to be able to provide setups to play a large number of games; they very well might have to choose the system that they can leverage the most, even if it doesn't mean having the most popular games at the moment at their tournaments.

BYOC would remedy this, but depending on the size of the tournament, that would bring it's own logistic issues as well. Smaller tournaments/weeklies would fare better under that model, but the larger tournaments would struggle.

I don't know how extremely heavy the burden is on TOs, but there are already tournaments that run different consoles for different games. CEO is a pretty big example. Anyway, once the new GG hits this might be a problem regardless, unless the new KI dies and everyone switches to PS4. :V

The new KI is a problem alone because it's XBox One exclusive. Even if you just had two setups, that's $1K that you have to shell out + $120 for copies of the game.

That's $1,120 USD total for two setups. One setup can handle a 16 man bracket in about two hours by standard pool setups today.

If you have 100 entrants, and have two sessions of poll play (50 people per session of the day have to be covered) that means you need eight setups (you're not going to have 18 man brackets), so your cost there is $4,480 USD.

For a game that by all means looks like it will draw at least that at any major tournament, that's going to add up really quick and present a real challenge to pull off.

Welp, BYOC(onsole) Will be the norm for a lot of KI tournies!

Ok, I realized my math is wrong.

You can run one 16 man bracket per two hours, but you'll need two consoles. Assuming an eight hour day, that's four sessions. You can handle up to 128 people a day with two consoles if you have one full day dedicated to pool play.

That means your cost for every 128 people in the bracket per day is $1,120 USD for KI (two consoles, two games)

That's a much easier number to overcome. If you're running everything over two days though, you probably need another two setups to get through top thirty two on the first day, raising the cost to $2,240 USD.

Of course, if the game is a massive breakout, then it might drive those numbers up this year.

And we could see lots of FGC interest simply because it's going to have a large Evo presence
(Maximilian pre-reg confirmed)
for the reasons mentioned before.

All-in-all, it's still a great time to be a fighting game fan, although difficult financially if you want to play all the games, whether at home, or at a tournament.

Sorry for the confusion before. You were closer than I was Silky =)

Man, Nemo getting heat for his Fchamp rematch comment in his comment because folks think it's a jab at Flocker, lol.

But Killer Instinct is only $20.
You can get it with all of the outfits for $40. The $60 is only for the physical version.

That's fair.

At the same time, most TOs prefer physical copies because of internet issues as well as time it takes to download on all systems, etc, etc. It's just easier to pop a disc in.

I patched Skullgirls online at ECT5 on four systems and it was a PITA. Now imagine if you had to do that for all games for 50-60 or more systems (depending on the game). It becomes a logistic issue pretty quickly.

KI is gonna be 90% rotating free character online
Fixed.

Well, if the consoles haven't gone online before the event, then they're fucked anyway, because they have to download the OS, unless they're all downloading it at the event (which would really suck).
And if they have downloaded it before, then they could download the game as well.

There's also supposed to be a Nemo vs Neo MM.

At this point the community is going in hard on Nemo. The community voted for him to come to Capcom Cup as well as Eventhubs putting hin as #6 best Marvel player. He now has a chip on his shoulder and has to perform otherwise people will start bringing out the "fraud" word.

Nemo is in a very curious position where he has the rare capability to defeat the three best players (ChrisG, FChamp,, Flocker) but he is prone to getting beat by lesser known players. Wouldn't be surprised at all if MarlinPie knocks him out at the tournaments... but really its all about them FT20s.

God I wish I was attending Capcom Cup as a spectator. I want to go in on these MM bets so hard.

neo vs nemo should be nemo freeeee. Atleast that is what I want to say.

Its very clear that neo relies heavily on D.Phoenix. Just a few months ago (2-3?) fchamp had to TEACH basic normal phoenix shit. It wasn't even like advance tech, it was just basic shit that all phoenix players should know. Yes his magneto is pretty good, but I don't think his overall grasp of his team is that good.

Nemo vs chris G/Fchamp will be good. I want to see that shit. I have no idea who is going to win or lose and I like it like that.

I think it's the other way around.

Top players (Champ and Chris specifically) have a chip on their shoulder because they're the ones that got bodied and lost significant amounts of money in the long sets.

More players and the community have a chip on their shoulder because Nemo got ranked highly in the EH rankings
(I find all the butthurt to be foolish, but whatever)
above other players who have been visible for longer (without really realizing that being visible for longer really doesn't matter, it's about the results).

On a related note, Marlin Pie hasn't confirmed that he could go. He says that he hasn't gotten the days off from work yet:

Nemo's homework and in-match adaptations are probably his best strength. It's basically what happened with Daigo recently. He bopped Xian and Infiltration but got beat out in Capcom Cup Quals or so. I suspect it's going to be a long shot for Nemo to win the actual tournament but I think he'll do well in the MMs he's lined himself up for.

And right, I'd agree that it's everyone else that has the chip on their shoulder. Nemo has a bit of confidence (and lack of it as well) but he's simply just excited to be participate really.

If he loses, will he be demoted from SilverBoyNeo to BronzeChildNeo?

I doubt forfeiting the spot works like that. They will probably give the spot to the person who got #9 in the poll. Probably going to be RayRay or someone like that.
