Just saw it, it was good, not great.
It didn't blend as seamlessly as the first (I could be exaggerating) story-wise, it was bland and generic. I have some knowledge of the comic-backstory of the antagonist, and was disappointed by movie's portrayal of him/her/it. The reasoning behind his actions were extremely generic and slight spoiler:
made for a predictable bad guy.

+The humor is GREAT, on par if not better than Iron Man movie humor from ALL characters

I know these movies have to be on their own, I get it. But it annoys me to no end when the Earth (and universe for that matter) is faced with catastrophe? The rest of the Avengers are taking a nap. I could get over this notion when they were fighting in Asguard or elsewhere given that the Avengers would have a hard time getting there. But London? Come on.
I know I was definitely hoping when Jane & Thor were about to be crushed by the ship that Iron Man/Hulk would fly in and move them out of the way. Drop a quip about how he had errands to run first or something, and be done.

Loved it. Definitely in my top 3 Marvel movies and it's great to see them knocking these Phase 2 movies out of the park. That last battle, holy shit. So awesome.

That's ASSUMING they aren't pre-occupied at the same time with their own thing.
Loved them falling through portals uncontrolled. Made for some awesome epic brawl moments as well as surprisingly funny moments for a final battle scene. Mjolnir flying up in to space was SO cool and it doing 180s trying to find Thor was so good. I was kind of nerding out over that.

Only problems with the movie I had were:
- Some of the Earth stuff in the first half was kind of whatever though I was never bored. Some if it seemed redundant like
.them showing Selvig's TV arrest twice when they only needed it once
- Was hoping for a little more of the Lady Sif romance angle. I'm wondering if there was more to that that got cut because it only seems like the smallest of setup here.
That's about it. Other than that I really enjoyed it. Can't wait for Cap 2!

which is really the only part where Earth would be aware of what's going on, happens in London in probably a half hour span of time. That's not enough time for Iron Man or Hulk or Captain America (who are all most likely in the US when this goes down) to respond. If this had happened in NY, you'd have more of a complaint.

Supposedly IM3 is 6 months after Avengers, Thor 2 is a year, and Winter Soldier will be 2 years after Avengers (http://www.slashfilm.com/captain-am...ier-takes-place-two-years-after-the-avengers/). I don't think Marvel has officially laid out the timeline for Phase 2 though. Pretty sure they just pieced that together from various info.

Cap is in DC and Tony is in LA. The whole battle is shorter than the trip across the ocean would be.
Next week's episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is gonna cover the aftermath of Thor 2. I hope they explain why S.H.I.E.L.D. didn't get involved.

you know it's going to be something half assed. Like a throwaway about that monster still running around london they had to get. But yeah, the whole final battle taking place in london in the space of about a half hour is explanation enough.

yeah, but again that line was throwaway. "I tried to call SHIELD and they didn't pick up." OK.
There was also a line early on about how the local authorities would alert the federal authorities, who would alert SHIELD which is something Jane didn't want to happen as they would lose control of the site.
So indications are that shield would EVENTUALLY show up, but aren't exactly the first number people call when things start to go bad. Either way I'm not that interested in the show and will probably skip it.
I'm much more interested in the reveal that
we know what two of the infinity gems/stones are, and the upcoming films will DEFINITELY have the others showing up. I'm curious if they're going to go the Time/Space/Power/Soul/Reality/Mind route, or just make them 6 obscenely powerful items that do whatever
edit: also, having Asgard with a vault of WTFOMG powerful items and odin pulling out exactly zero of them when asgard gets invaded is LOLworthy.

yeah, having SHIELD "not taking her seriously" or having her get stuck in hold music hell or something would be more plausible. but it's not really meant to be overthought, i don't think.

In the first post credits scene,
Sif and Volstagg deliver the Aether to The Collector in a box for safekeeping, outright stating that it's one of the infinity stones/items, and that the tesseract from Avengers is another one. Collector announces his intent to gain the remaining five for unknown reasons at the end of the scene.
no idea how you could have watched the scene and missed it. the scene consists of literally no other dialogue.

having the infinity stones/gems all in one location is an EXTREMELY BAD IDEA. Collector is an elder of the universe in mainstream continuity (though not exactly a "good person") and maintains a collection of the rarest species and items in the universe. It WOULD be safe with him, assuming he wasn't corrupt...which he is.
It also creates a very simple link between GOTG and THOR, which is probably closer to what Marvel wants.

Is the 3D worth it? I'm planning on going today and the Marvel films usually aren't known for their 3D efforts since all of them are post-converted.

Thought this was pretty enjoyable overall. My favorite part was actually
Queen Frigga protecting Jane from Malekith. I haven't seen the first movie so the queen being able to go toe-to-toe with the main bad guy was a total surprise to me, even after seeing her grab the sword off the guard. Shame she didn't make it, but at least she went out like a badass.

this was actually a good line. There were a ton of bad ones though, mostly from the Natalie Portman character.
That was just a scout flyer, their smallest ship. The damage the drag caused was probably tiny, it was jamming the source that made it go down
I'd assume it's some sort of malleable material with a high impact strength.

I liked the film, but the start was a bit jarring as well as Natalie Portman's character. Fun flick.
Wasn't too keen on the villain, they could have fleshed out his backstory and character much more, although it was marginally better than other superhero villains in ensemble/minor movies. Loki owned this film.
