Third trailer for Frozen (Walt Disney Animation Studios

The trailers for this have been better than the awful Tangled ones. Tangled was amazing.....let that sink in for a moment.

Also, dem reviews! Awwwww yissssss! This is gonna be another home run for Disney. Really looking forward to this one.

Wreck it Ralph was awesome, mostly because it was a good movie about videogames, but nothing will ever top The Lion King, ever.

About this movie...looks kinda boring, I dunno, it doesn't stand out at all for some reason.

Some of the quotes from the reviews are filled with extremely high praise:

indiewire.com said:
Over the last few years Disney Animation has solidified and with "Princess and the Frog" and "Tangled," have refocused on the classic fairy tales that fueled both golden eras of Disney Animation. "Princess and the Frog" was genuinely magical, but it often felt like the audience was resistant to the old school animation, and "Tangled" was an attempt to make those classic tales multi-dimensional, which worked (mostly), but was somewhat sabotaged by forgettable songs and occasionally clunky plotting. With "Frozen," the lessons learned from those previous movies have been sharply utilized. "Frozen" feels like classic Disney animation. If someone had announced "Frozen" as the studio's follow-up to "Beauty & the Beast," no one would blink. It's that good.

digitalspy.com.au said:
Everybody remembers their first Disney film. The most remarkable thing about Frozen, the fairytale adaptation that has been in the works for more than half a century, is that it feels like your first Disney film all over again, with all the dizzying joy and emotional power that implies. Eschewing the traditional boy-girl core story in favour of the relationship between two sisters, this is Disney Animation Studios' strongest outing in years. With heart and wit and powerhouse songs in spades, it has the feeling of an instant classic.

denofgeek.com said:
The biggest compliment I can thus give Frozen is this: somebody watching it is going to feel the same way about Disney's latest that I felt over 20 years ago when I first saw Beauty And The Beast. At its peak, Frozen is Walt Disney Animation Studios firing with everything, demonstrating why it's emerged in recent years as the most interesting mainstream producers of feature animation (with terrific features such as Wreck-It Ralph, Tangled, The Princess And The Frog and Winnie The Pooh). And this is very much a Disney film, the kind you feel nobody else could make. It's a fairytale, but co-director Jennifer Lee's screenplay manages to modernise it, whilst never losing the feeling of tradition. There's no cheating here - it's the story itself that's been made more relevant, rather than any gimmicks attached around it.

Take early reviews with a grain of salt. The Den of Geek one won't even be on RT. Still a small sample size as well.

Anyway, to balance things out, I'll post this very negative opinion from animator Michael Sporn:

I was able to switch up my plans to see FROZEN in a theater. It hurt badly.I’s the worst Disney feature I’ve seen in ages. I won’t get into it, but trust mean on this one. It’s a horrible attempt to make a long-form feature. I had to walk out at the 2/3 mark. The drawing wasn’t all that was wrong. Acting, coloring, songs. It’s a mess. I’ll go a little deeper (but not by much) at another time. See the Mayazaki film a second time instead.

If people are judging movies by trailers in this day and age... I just know what to think.

In any case, hyped. Don't let the "it's not 2D!" and the "that trailer was terrible" crowd lose it on you!

He could have at least explained why he didn't like it in more depth. Anyway...a handful of glowing reviews VS one negative blog post isn't going to stop this hype train.

I mean the praise this is getting is some next level stuff. Comparing it to Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King? Doesn't get much more promising/exciting than that!

I won't put too much stock into the Beauty and the Beast/The Lion King comparisons. Honestly, it feels like something that a few people started and the rest just went along with. It also draws on the narrative of Disney decline after The Lion King which I don't really subscribe to.

I do expect the film to get good reviews overall but there are only 6 'proper' reviews so far, I'd be wary of drawing too many conclusions from that.

Anyway, the script has been made available: http://www.stitchkingdom.com/disney-script-download-66771/

That person sounds like a John K. and a Cartoon Brew fan. I don't like to pull ad hominem but when a person subscribes to those two it should be telling.

Also the comments imply he also hated Tangled.

Shit, this is only three weeks away?

Yep, it premieres on November 27.

Of course, Australia will get it a month late. I would have already listened to the soundtrack several times and maybe even read the script and will be thoroughly sick of the film by the time I get round to watching it.

Tricky I Shadow I trust you 100% because as we know Tangled is the best thing EVER so I'm planning to see this first week of December when its out here and buying the blu-ray asap.

CAN NOT WAIT :D

I swear, people who hate Tangled probably only saw the trailer.

I'm still shocked that people use trailers as a gauge for films when time and time again it's shown merely as a hook.

There certainly are people who have watched Tangled and genuinely disliked it.

What does annoy me is people who love Tangled but who refuse to give this film a chance based on the trailers.

Oh there are, but most of the time the complaints make it sound like they viewed the trailer and assumed stuff from it. I remember hearing stuff like "it looked too 'modernized' for a fairy tale" which is weird.

I just finished reading every word of the script (I couldn’t help myself!) and I’m completely confident this will be really fantastic.....even though I’ve only read the script I can already tell that the music in this is going to be a big step up from Tangled. Here we have a few duets that are very promising, and the way they edit one duet in particular with the camera constantly switching between the two characters is classic Disney. Speaking of songs, Disney really went for it when trying to get dem feels out of you. ‘Let it go’ and ‘For the first time’ scream broadway and golden era Disney. Actually.....the whole movie has a very emotional/personal undertone to it. When it wants to it can lay on the drama thick. This is another case of the trailer not representing the movie well at all just like Tangled. Surprise! Surprise!

Whilst the characters and humor seem very Tangled - Frozen seems to be a little more "dark" and definitely pulls at your heart strings more often than Tangled did. Now I completely understand why some critics were comparing this to Beauty and the Beast - it has very similar themes. The sister relationship dynamic also helps the movie differentiate itself from past Disney princess movies, they surprisingly have a decent amount of depth to them. Another thing that surprised me was a very refreshing plot twist that I didn’t see coming. Maybe it’ll be more obvious when I watch the movie, but when reading the script it kinds threw me. It’s welcomed and harsh, but I wouldn’t have had it any other way!

Conclusion: This is going to be a great movie.

looks really good. Like others have said the snowman is fucking dumb. The horse worked in tangled because it didnt talk.

hmmm we will see I guess. kids will love it.

The horse in Tangled was better than a sidekick. He practically had his own story arc and character development. Plus he didn't talk.

Olaf has great thematic importance.

Glad you liked the script, even if I do think you are a little crazy for reading it now.

If you want to spoil yourself some more, I'll be happy to indulge you though:

Here are some recordings of songs which were played at certain Disney Stores. Lower quality and some ambient noise:

This. Once you watch the movie you'll realize that he's in the movie for a reason and not just randomly thrown in.

He may still be annoying to a lot of people...but the actual reason he exists is kinda of an 'Awwwwwww' moment.

Wow this is great stuff. 'For the first time' is completely classic Disney! I'm also pleasantly surprised with Kristen Bell’s voice!

Movie of the forever, confirmed.

(Now watch the next 5 reviews be negative.)

(And of course, only 2 of the reviews had numerical scores and the ones from the Wrap and Hollywood Reporter wouldn't have given anything close to a 10/10.)

And just a warning, there is a one-star audience review on Rotten Tomatoes (which appears right at the front for me) which contains MAJOR SPOILERS.

I wasn't very hyped before, but now i'm hyped as fuck. I have same vibes from it as from Hobbit and Avatar for some reason. Wanna watch it in Imax too. But it's such a long wait for me, it premieres on 12 december here.

Saw a trailer for this before Gravity last night.

Looks really, really good. Can't wait to take my daughter to see it.

I think I'm even more excited for this than I am for the PS4 or the Xbox One. And I'm really hyped for those. But I can't get the snippet of "First Time In Forever" out of my head. I just got my Veronica Mars Kickstarter shirt in the mail today, so I'm definitely wearing that when I see Frozen.

Looks so painfully by-the-numbers..

If you go by the trailers it does looks by the numbers, but after reading the script? Boy, are you in for a surprise if you watch this.

The sister dynamic and a few refreshing plot twists will probably make this the least by the numbers Disney movie in a long time.

Werent the first reviews very mixed?
I would be surprised if its as good as even Tangled

What are you even talking about?! The first handful of reviews have been overwhelmingly positive.

A lot of people are saying this is Disney at their best and comparing it to the classics from the 90’s.

Saw it this Saturday at the cast and crew screening. I really enjoyed the movie. A lot. If you're a fan of Tangled or the Disney movies of the 90s you'll eat it up. I'm expecting it to win Best Animated Feature and Best Song ("Let it Go") at the Oscars no question.

Visually the movie is stunning. The composition and color work is beautiful. It's a serious accomplishment.

I don't want to give anything away but I do have this bombshell to drop:

Olaf (the snowman) is absolutely fantastic. I'm dead serious. He looks very annoying in the trailers because of the way it's cut. You'll see what I mean when you see the movie. He's actually incredibly funny and not a Jar Jar Binks in any way. Big, real, earnest laughs from him.

It's the best Disney film I've seen in years. Disney Animation hits it out of the park again.

I have no interest in seeing this but wanted to say it's extremely refreshing to see a trailer for a modern animated film that doesn't barrage me with pop music.

Seems like the Oscar race for Animated Feature is already over...

I actually expect The Wind Rises to take home the Oscar. It's Miyazaki's final film and news of his retirement is still fresh in the memory, the Academy might want to honour his career. Also a fair chance that it might be the better film, I wouldn't know yet.

So, not an Amid Amidi fan? (Personally, I prefer talking to Jerry Beck and I support Cartoon Research, which is his new gig.) Also, how could someone hate Tangled? :-(

Personally, I'm looking forward to this movie and I hope I get my pre-screen pass soon. I run a store called Animation is Art in Aurora, Colorado and Frozen is on my radar because of a few things.

1. So, the guy from The Book of Mormon is a singing snowman in this film? SOLD. Also, what I know about the character makes me pleased with his presence in the film.
2. The music: "Let It Go" is an empowerment anthem in spirit, but the lyrics cater greatly to the LGBT community. I hope they love the gift they've been given because the song is damn good and they need to use it.
3. The soundtrack is TWO CDs. The art book looks fantastic. I can't wait to carry and sell these things.
4. I look forward to the excellent cosplay this will inspire if it catches on. Some of the cosplayers in my area are already working on costumes and those look amazing.

But yeah. Lyrics like "And here I stand and here I'll stay" and "I know I left a life behind but I'm too relieved to grieve" are amazing. "I'm standing, frozen, in the life I've chosen." That is begging to be claimed and owned. I mean, seriously.. it's so goood.....

Reading the reviews.. that one star audience reviewer on rotten tomatoes didn't like it because it felt like a classic Disney film and the music sounded like a classic musical? Someone should stab out that guys eyes, rip off his ears, and feed the parts to the birds.

Funnily enough, I believe Amidi actually liked Tangled, albeit his praise for the film was mixed in with his usual bad-natured snark, whereas Jerry Beck wasn't keen on it at all.

Those lyrics are exclusive to the Demi Lovato version.

I especially regret the lack of this one which you've mentioned:

Up here in the cold thin air, I finally can breathe,
I know I've left a life behind but I'm too relieved to grieve.
