Don't Shoot Yourself! impressions:
If you like Tilt to Live, I think you'd like this. The game's very much a puzzle/bullet hell hybrid. Like Tilt and other games like Fireball, the primary goal is evasion, but the twist is the level design itself. From portals to invisible walls and other varied barriers, you'll have to adapt on the fly and learn the best way to deal with each new challenge. It's fun, frantic, and difficult, and really it's just cool to see what challenge the developer has come up with next. It's not frustrating, throw-your-phone-away, more of a learning curve to that aha moment of satisfaction when you master a level

And there's a web demo to try: http://www.silverwaregames.com/DSY/

Just got a new iPad and picked up Ravenmark Mercenaries.

Am I missing something? Each contract gives me 10-30 silver, and my units have to rest for 19.5 hours after doing each contract. But to proceed with the story (white Major Contract), I have to have 7000 silver. Seems like it would take me days and days to even do the first story mission.

I've heard the series is great and I really like the gameplay I've played so far (Border Skirmishes are cool) but I hope I'm missing something here and the F2P hasn't gimped it.

Isn't ravenmark mercenaries the multiplayer version of the game? I wasn't even aware it had a story. Have you played ravenmark: scourge of estellion?

Are there any good free multiplayer games on iPhone/iPad?

Downloaded VS. Racing 2 which was pretty good... I'm open to any suggestions but need to be 'free'....

EDIT: for anywhere between 2-5 players...

I played the game the other day on the PC and that's how I did it, although your screenshot does look a bit unfamiliar to me for some reason. I can't imagine that I missed this area though so that must be the bit I'm remembering. Maybe the iOS version is just framing it differently. Or they've changed the level?

Nope, that was it. Success, and game beaten :)
Now she wants to get the achievements, lol like I remember where all the white thingie are.
Anyway, no spoilers here of course, Limbo's ending never jived with me, I understand what they were trying to accomplish but I just think it falls short of the game's atmosphere and has nothing going for it besides "hey let's talk about what it can possibly mean".

Downclocking the CPU compared to the Air would be a middle finger to developers who already have enough different specs to accommodate. I doubt there's going to be a heat issue, and it doesn't seem like something worth what should be minor battery life gains.

We now know the A7 is running at 1.3 GHz in the mini, same as in the iPhone 5s. Air is 1.4 GHz.

I need a quick yes or no for Transport Tycoon from the iOSGAF. Was dead set on getting it but the AppStore reviews are less than favorable so I held off. Yes? No? No? Yes?

Picked up Kingdom Rush, didnt realise the majority of heroes were IAP's, sort of irritating from a completionist perspective. Are they required?

The challenge missions are where the game gets really challenging and you don't get to use heroes for those...there's really no point in buying them.

Yes

I love it.

Mind though, it's essentially Locomotion and not TT.

ah forget to mention that.... but chapter everything until chapter 6 were free back then... since when is chapter 6 costing something?

Yes.

It was a little buggy initially but they've fixed it up by now.

You're playing the wrong Ravenmark. Play the single-player version (Scourge of Estelion)

Deemo. a Pianoversion of Cytus.

Nice game, but i suppose its going to be a IAP-slaughter...

Definitely looks like a Tapsonic/O2Jam/DJMAX Ray clone with artsy-fartsy story elements. I hope they at least bothered to sync the music properly this time. Cytus is still an unplayable mess to this day.

It's out now, $1.99 universal. A quick scan through the Facebook page they set up for it had a video message from Nobuo Uematsu among their posts - I didn't really have much time to look into it, but does that mean he did a song for the game?

I can't believe Oceanhorn is finally coming out today.

I finished the room and epilogue. Really fun game! Once done is there a reason to keep it on my iPad?

I agree-it was great. I backed up my save with iFunbox just in case, but I did delete it. I'm assuming the Room 2 will be a new app entirely-I can't say the same for The Walking Dead season 2.

Adding to that, here are a few more titles coming out tonight that I think might be worth while
(linking straight to TA as I'm on mobile and they have info compiled)

Stealth Inc (Universal app By Curve Digital Games) - This looks absolutely fantastic, just check the trailer!

Epoch 2 (Universal app By Uppercut Games) - I never really got into the first one personally, do we have any huge Epoch fans here? :)

The Rivers of Alice (Universal app By Delirium Studios) - A marvelous looking graphic adventure, with music that reminds me of Sigur Ros.

Bit.Trip Run yesterday's update claimed the framerate issues to be fixed. Bullshit, it still slows down every now and then. So disappointed, damn. Really want to play it, but it's just impossible.

Woah Stealth Inc looks brilliant - like a mix between N and Metal Gear Solid :O
It's fantastic. Well the PC and PS3 versions are, don't know how the touch controls will play out. If N or SMB mixed with puzzles and Splinter Cell, you'd get something like Stealth Inc. (I still think Stealth Bastard is the better name)

I might check Stealth Inc. Out...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T79pZCn5A7c&feature=youtu.be&a

I like what I see but I don't know how do I feel about Oceanhorn being the most blatant copy of a famous game series I've ever seen. It's not even Gameloft level of obnoxious - it's far worse. From the simplistic story set up, switch puzzles, combat, enemies (oh hai chu chu o_O), art direction, heck even Zelda-ish jingle when you solve the puzzle and that Nordic-esque mural telling the legendary story of... wait, a legendary kingdom? The game hardly tries to be any different. Now if it would be 20 hours long, and have *actual* Legend of Zelda-kind-of-good dungeons, 9 dollars for a different "skin" and no iconic characters is actually a very decent deal. But I doubt it will be. Still, knowing myself I'll probably check it out soon anyway o_O I just feel very confused about this game at this stage. Whoever picked it up, share the impressions but preferably longer than after first 20 minutes!

My thoughts pretty much, it'll either be good or it'll be another Star Command (have been meaning to give that one a 2nd chance now with some updates under it's belt..).

So I've played the first 10 mins or so of Oceanhorn and I tell you guy, we have a winner on our hands.

It looks, sounds and controls great. Very polished and very smart.

Impressions...
Right away it starts off rainy and moody (as it was in A Link to the Past) and has great track by Nobuo Uematsu.

I was surprised to find it has some voice acting during key scenes which was nice.
This is definitely a game you will want headphones for.
Which is odd for me to say because I almost never play iOS games that require sound.

Then it just gets right in to letting you play. The movement is really responsive and combat so far has been fun. It really captures (copies?) Zelda well. I can't wait to play more at lunch.

I'm not convinced I'm even playing real players in Quiz Up, and I'll show you why:

Just going off my firm grasp on the sport of mixed martials, I can say without a shadow of a doubt that I'm not playing with a real human. I find it extremely hard to believe that I'm consistently playing someone who has never played the category and knows quickly off the top of their head that UFC midcarder Takeya Mizugaki has a college degree in electrical engineering, Kazushi Sakuraba's catchwrestling mentor, and that in 1996 Cal Worsham broke 3 ribs and punctured his lung.

I'm calling bullshit. At least in an obscure and not mainstream category such as this one. dream, play a few rounds in the mixed martial category and tell these gentlemen they've been had.

So, Oceanhorn. Almost 2 hours in... I like it. It's pretty much a Zelda clone (it's indeed pretty shameless sometimes) but it's decent, I'm having fun with it. Probably more than I did with PH and ST. Navigation is more Phantom Hourglass than Wind Waker.

Tip: block just before an enemy attack and it will bounce, giving you an opening. The visual cue is very subtle (animation is not hot in this game) so I discovered this by accident. Some enemies like ogres will block you, so it's usefull to know,

I say give it a try if you don't have a 3DS to play the new Zelda.

I'm in total agreement, friend.

What, am I playing Retha Gracie here?

weird GT Racing 2 is out right now.

So far I like this more than Real Racing 3. It looks and runs better on my iPhone 5S than RR3 too. The graphics are really good. Menu layout is nice and easy to get around. Negative, I don't think it has a lot of real tracks. It does have Laguna Seca, and it is nicely modeled.

Downloaded Stealth Bastard/Stealth Inc. and played through the first set of levels.

I was always a big fan of the Desktop version (I played some of it on my Mac), and wanted a portable version. Good news is it's a pretty faithful port. If you want to know about the base game, just look up reviews for that version and that should suffice,

One thing that I'm not a great fan of in the iOS version is the "floating" movement controls. The movement is controlled by basing wherever you put your left finger down as the center point if a virtual analog stick. For most analog games, I can see the reasoning behind this, but playing this previously on my Mac with a keyboard, I'd actually prefer a more digital d-pad or at least the option for one.

My issue with the floating analog pad is that, with my ipad, to go left you have to drag left, which means that many times, I find my thumb running off into the black bezel and bringing me to a grinding halt.

Otherwise, still love the base game. Great music and graphics, fun mechanics, but some odd control decisions.

The problem with Quiz Up is that the questions repeat FAST. And maybe there's no way around that early on, but it'd be nice if they filtered out questions you've already encountered.

Congratulations to MMA historian and totally real human being Cortney Elliott.

That's awesome, see, Dana isn't so beta after all, he is right that the sport is growing, so fast in fact that even random people know everything there is to know about the history of the sport.

Right?

Yeah especially the flag. I was going to go for the 1st place on the global ranking last weekend (little point now since people seemingly either play it 24/7 or they pay for extra exp) but I can't see much fun in getting perfect score after perfect score. I could call out the name of the country before the selection even appeared. I suppose there's a limited list of flags anyway, but for the other sections I'd say they will be expanded eventually.

As for the non human players... I don't know. They must be really good at emulating this so.

I am having no issues with it, you can just rock your thumb left / right and it still works, the developer said as much on TA forums and when I tried it it worked.

I'm still rocking the first iPad and feel like it might be time to upgrade. I really want the new iPad Mini for its size, but the Air looks good too. Torn.

I'm going to throw my weight in with the QuizUp "the players aren't real" crowd, but for a different reason. I've been playing pretty much exclusively in the Futurama category, and I'd say that 19 times out of 20 I play against someone who just randomly hits answers without having a clue. Almost all the people I'm playing against get maybe 1 question right. I don't see how people can pick this category and then constantly get them all wrong. Just now I had two questions with essentially the same answer ("Who owns half of Mars" and then "Who is heiress to half of Mars") and despite being basically given the answer to the second question after the first one my opponent still got it wrong. I can't be playing against only idiots, can I?

Plus I'm always shown as a "beginner" despite being at level 14. Annoying!

Do you read comic books and/or magazines? Then get the Air. Otherwise, get the Mini, especially if you value portability.
