My camera phone does it no justice at all.

Does the gamepad function as a CC pro or something?

No, which is pretty absurd. Just thinking about all the content that would open up (Xenoblade, DKC Returns, Wii Virtual Console) would be amazing.

I find it hard to believe that they can't patch a firmware update to the Wii interface to understand the gamepad as a CC. Or at the very least, just toss some Wii versions on the eShop with the very minor tweaking (assumption) necessary to run them in U mode.

The subset of people that own both a Wii U and Xenoblade must be really small.

I own a Wii U but not Xenoblade, damn it :-(.

Can you use Dolphin only with legal copies of the game?

If not, no deal. I don't do illegal crap.
Yes, but you need a method of getting the game onto your pc, which while legal, requires a modded wii.

But man, xenoblade shines something special on the pc

Yay, I'm a minority.

It looks ok on the Gamepad and I play with CCP... too bad they won't let us use the Gamepad controls.
Gamepad viewing is pointless without it. If I'm gonna be using a separate controller I may as well use my TV since I can't comfortably lie in bed a play.

My experience with Wii on the U pad is that it introduces really bad scaling artifacts. You would expect it to look like razor sharp Wii frame buffer grabs, but it seems to first upscale to your TV resolution (1080p for most people), then downscale that output to the U pad (double scaling). Perhaps setting Wii U to 480p will improve results.

I believe you can just place the game into your PC's optical drive and run it from there (using Dolphin), or copy it to the hard drive as an .iso file.

I bought both the Wii U and Xenoblade last December, and have played it on the gamepad in the bedroom with the Wii U in the living room.

Glorious.

Actually going to go try this. Sounds interesting.

Wish Nintendo added Wiipad functionality and auto scaling depending on the game.

That would be too much to wish for lol. Wish at least the homebrewing community could work something out.

I have a laptop powerful enough to run it, but them stuttering ugh.

Nah, the stores I'd be looking at are definitely in urban areas. Less "giant battle in the middle of nowhere" and more "dawn of the dead with higher population density"
I almost said urban, but it didn't sound as funny. Good luck with that. I was lucky enough to grab both before the price gouging began.

Thanks. both came out during a period of a couple years when I ignored most games that weren't steam-sale-impulse-buys so i missed them...

I anxiously glance at last story and pandora's tower on amazon every so often, wondering if I need to pounce on those to avoid similar fates..

Pandora's Tower has been dirt cheap. I picked up a couple of copies for $13 at GameFly, and it's been $20 new at GameStop twice, with Amazon matching that at least once.

The Last Story shouldn't be that expensive either, unless you want a Limited Edition or something.

I bought a Wii U last week. Also have a sealed copy of XB. Been battling it out in my mind on whether I want to open it or not. If gamepad control support was patched in for wii mode I would've broke.

Instead I'm patiently waiting for that $40 copy on black friday now
